A magnificent pair of mid 18th century carved giltwood girandoles attributed to William France and John Bradburn, each with a cartouche-shaped moulded frame with extending scrolls and husks, the frame continuing upward to support further moulded scrolls and foliate ornament enclosing a forward spray of leafy plumes with ruffed edges and surmounted by an anthemion, the scrolls extending towards the base enclosing a cabochon within scrolls and leaves, surmounted by three foliate ornamented scrolled arms supporting gilt-metal candle holders in the formed of joined leaves. A rare George III marquetry commode with serpentine top centered by a rococo cartouche of floral marquetry on a yewwood reserve within a wide cross-banding and moulded edge above a conforming frieze centered by a brushing slide fitted with an inset leather panel, the front of which is inlaid with ivy leaves, the case centered by a pair of cupboard doors centered by a large cartouche surrounding a floral bouquet tied with a bow and flanked with husk swags and trailing foliage on a yewwood reserve within a thick cross-banding, the case with rounded canted corners with conjoined carved giltwood foliate C-scrolls, the side panels centered by floral festoons on a yewwood ground similar within a thick crossbanding, the case raised on an apron centered by an ormolu rocaille-form cartouche and raised on rounded bracket feet. 3. THE TURVEY HOUSE COMMODES Attributed to Mayhew & Ince
A pair of semi-elliptical marquetry and ormolu commodes, each with a central drawer and two hinged, sprung quadrant drawers in the frieze, over three graduated front drawers and two quadrant cupboards enclosing shelves, standing on four short legs with vase-shaped feet. Each commode is veneered with panels of harewood and West Indian satinwood, with tulipwood crossbanding, purplewood banding, and ‘white’ and ‘black’ stringing and cockbeads. The harewood and satinwood serve as dark and light grounds to the marquetry decoration of each commode, which centres on a coat of arms on the top (Birch impaling Ryves). England, circa 1775

4. A MOORISH CENTRE TABLE An early 19th century Italian gothic ebony and ivory centre table profusely decorated in the gothic taste with interlocking arches and scrolls in ivory with a central gothic patera to the top, all set against an ebony ground. The table has canted corners with square cross section legs, which terminate in high tapering feet. The base bearing a crown 'D' stamp in several places and a residual paper label, also depicting a crown 'D'. Within the carcass of the piece were found three pencil inscribed paper fragments bearing maker's names and dates.

AN ANGLO-INDIAN EBONY AND IVORY COLLECTOR'S BOX An early 18th century Anglo-Indian collector's box made in ebony and inlaid with ivory etched with penwork of the finest detail, the top and sides profusely decorated with a running pattern of sinuous fronds bearing large flowerheads, seedpods and leaves, within ivory veneered edges etched with scrolling foliage and flowers, the top opening to reveal a central well with sectioned compartments and three small drawers, the underside of the top similarly inlaid with etched ivory; the box with its original silver hinges and engraved silver handles to the sides and raised on a modern ebony stand with square tapering legs and silvered box castors. A PAIR OF CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY GAINSBOROUGH CHAIRS A very fine pair of Chinese Chippendale mahogany library armchairs with arched backs flanked by padded arm rests with foliate and blind fret carved supports, raised on square chamfered legs similarly carved with blind fret and joined by pierced stretchers; the chairs upholstered in very fine yellow silk needlework with flowers and foliage in vibrant greens, reds, blues and pinks. The French needlework with large stylised flowers in shades of red and pink with bluegreen foliage on a gold ground combine the most expensive colours of the period. A PAIR OF GEORGE III GILTWOOD DEMILUNE PIER TABLES A fine pair of George III giltwood pier tables in the neoclassical taste, each with an unusual focilised marble top with an ormolu beaded edge above a conforming frieze centered by a rectangular plaque carved with a flower-head flanked by honeysuckle, the frieze with a fish-scaled ground alternating with flower heads and fluted panels, raised on acanthus-carved circular tapering fluted legs raised on toupee feet.

A unique late 17th century William III carved giltwood looking glass. The oval central plate with an inner border of harebell husks, a central border of oak leaves and scallop shells and an outer border of mermaid scales. The cartouche with a Herculean lions head helmet mounted on a carved club adorned with ostrich plumes and axe heads flanked by flags. The sides with swords and sabres with eagle and lion head handles, above crossed serpent-like anchors supported on a battery of mortars and cannon. The mortar crowned with the head of Hermes above an image of Nereus, 'The Old Man of the Sea', with surrounding thunderbolts and lightning flashes. The whole entwined with stylised rope ties.
