“It is, therefore, solely by the talents displayed in his Works, that the Artist can claim any preference and that the unfriended man of merit, who is unknown to the Public, will receive equal attention, and will have a fair opportunity of publicly displaying his Works... It is only upon the broad and simple principle of personal merit that this Society is founded, and its Regulations formed…” from the RI’s original Mandate of 1832.

As you can see from the quote above, the RI continues to see the importance of an open exhibition where work by members and non-members can be shown together. Again this year we are especially proud to have almost a 50/50 split between them and are sure that this provides opportunity to artists, both emerging and established, as well as quality and variety to our visitors. On the following three pages we have chosen to illustrate a few works by non-members to show our appreciation of all those talented watercolour artists who are exhibiting with us this year.
