Social Issues Process Book MALLORY BOLIN 1

PRECIS A main task of the National Parks system is to preserve species and to create a natural habitat in which they can flourish. There are two main issues currently interfering with that goal. Climate change is affecting not only the landscape of our parks, but the conservation efforts that take place there including plant and animal life. Many animals must also travel in and out of parks to mate, migrate and find food. If the surrounding areas are inhospitable, the species may be hurt. Making people aware of how climate change affects animals and their personally nostalgic National Park experiences will inspire them to make changes in their lives to be more ecologically responsible. It may also encourage them to consider their political views regarding the environment. Also showing them how development in and near National Parks regions limits migration and mating potential for animals will potentially change their views.
