Site Investigation

Before starting the foundation works, a site investigation is carried out to determine the soil type, groundwater level, and other geotechnical factors that can affect the stability of the structure.

Footing Construction

Column and Wall Construction

Once the footing is in place, the columns and walls of the building are constructed on top of it. The columns are typically made of concrete or steel and provide vertical support to the structure.

Excavation

The first step in the foundation works is to excavate the ground to the required depth for the foundation. The depth of the excavation depends on the load-bearing capacity of the soil and the height of the building.

Slab Construction

The slab is a horizontal surface that forms the floors of the building. The slab is constructed on top of the columns and walls and is reinforced with steel bars

Backfilling

Finally, the excavation is backfilled with soil or lean mix to provide additional support to the foundation and prevent it from shifting or settling.

These are the main steps involved in the foundation works, which must be carried out in a sequential manner to ensure the stability and longevity of the structure

Waterproofing

Waterproofing is essential to prevent water from seeping into the building and causing damage. A waterproofing membrane is applied to the foundation walls and slab to protect the structure from moisture.
