dizaine d’années. Son travail porte sur l’harmonie des lettres hébraïques et latines ainsi que sur les signes abstraits.
Introduction
Michel d’Anastasio, (41) has worked as an artist and calligrapher for over ten years. His work bears the harmony of the Hebrew, Roman and Abstract letters and signs.
Today‌ Shortly after Malta celebrated joining the European Union; Michel made a genealogical research at the country of his ancestors, only to discover his long lost Jewish roots. Some couple of months later, during his voyage to Israel, Michel found the admiration for Hebrew culture. He was primarily fascinated by the Hebrew alphabet. After his return to Paris, he began an intense self-study of the alphabet encompassing hours and hours per week... The letters are beautiful to work with, and Michel felt strong artistic emotions from the very beginning of his artistic journey. A New world had been opened to him with its new palette of shapes and signs. Michel discovered the cursive letters to be much livelier, more modern, and enabled a higher degree of artistic freedom. The initial admiration has transformed itself into an evident and careful will: to improve and modernize the Hebrew alphabet mastery of outlines according to his vision, and in the same manner as he previously did with the Roman alphabet. Today, Michel takes Hebrew lessons in order to feel and understand more strongly the meaning of the signs adorning under his fingers. The work has become diverse quickly; Michel uses new materials to add on value to his works of art. Photographs of beautifully written letters and objects of decoration make great enhancements to his art.
