Program Highlights

Directed Independent Studies

A “DIS” is an experience requested by a student that allows him to explore coursework otherwise unavailable due to schedule constraints. The experience requires a strong student-teacher.

Featured Assessments

Many courses throughout the guide are tagged with icons indicating a prominent assessment that has largely influenced the course design and execution. These icons allow families and counselors to quickly identify courses that may align with a particular skill that a student seeks to develop.

Counseling and College Counseling Seminars

Students are supported throughout their Malvern career in a myriad of ways, including formal Counseling class all four years of their high school experience. These sessions allow students to surface and discuss relevant topics in a small and supportive environment. College counseling also provides time for students to work on application materials.

Dual Enrollment [Immaculata University]

Beginning in the 2020-2021 academic year, Malvern entered into a dual enrollment program with Immaculata University in which students have the opportunity to earn college credits through Malvern Prep courses. All of these courses are noted within the 2022-2023 Curriculum Guide and produce an independent Immaculata University transcript should students choose.

Additionally, Malvern offers (3) co-ed experiences for eligible seniors with Villa Maria Academy students. These courses are listed within the 2022-2023 Curriculum Guide and are taught by Immaculata University professors in a semester-based format on Villa Maria’s main campus. Successful course completion results in an Immaculata University transcripted grade.

Peer to Peer Learning Center

Peer to peer support and mentorship has long been identified as a way for participating students to increase their connection to their school community, enhance their cultural awareness, and increase self-esteem and confidence. Malvern’s Peer to Peer Learning Center seeks to help students to become better at learning and at teaching. Students qualify to become mentors after a rigorous training program embedded in our Tutor and Mentor Curriculum and headed up by our English Department Lead, Susie Sweeney Berlacher, and High School Counselor, Korin Folan. All students have the opportunity to access the Peer to Peer Learning Center, which is both a physical place as well as a very special program that is available in our community.

Online Learning

We understand that learning can happen anytime and anywhere. As a result, we are formalizing a series of online offerings for the 2022-2023 academic year that students can take advantage of should they meet stated requirements. We hope this continued commitment to optionality enables students to craft the schedule that best suits their needs this coming year.
