I always give priority to Quality EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW With Krishna Kant
Tell us about your background and how your career evolved? I am an IT graduate but I never wanted to pursue career in that field. Since childhood, I always wanted to do something creative, something that allow me to break my comfort zone and help me to learn new things. After graduation, I enrolled in a VFX course as I always get fascinated with the special effects in movies. I learned a lot of software throughout the course but soon I realised that Photoshop is the one that I liked to use very much. So, I started learning Photo-Manipulations and I loved it and as time flows, I got better on it. But after some months, I saw the profile of Marksingerman on Instagramand I got to know about Retouching. I tried my hand on it by learning it from ‘Retouching Series’ by Pratik Naik. Since that day I never stopped. I kept on learning new techniques and my work gets improved day by day.

Tell us about your debut as a retoucher. What characteristics do you think have made you so successful? What advice could you offer? When I thought of pursuing retouching as a career option, my first priority was to build a portfolio, so that clients can approach me. For that I practiced a lot with raw images available on various websites. I was uploading my work on Instagram and from there only I got my first client from India. It was for Indian Wedding Photographs. But after working as a wedding retoucher, I got bored. Then I came across beauty and fashion images and I loved it. I learned doing beauty retouching though various platforms and tried to do TFP collaboration with photographers so that I can keep building my portfolio. To become a successful retoucher you should have perseverance and honesty in your work. In my early days, I only used to work for money but soon I realised that you should be honest with your work even if takes a lot of time. The new Retouchers who have just started their career 1. Should focus on Quality not on Quantity. 2. Keep learning new techniques and build your portfolio. 3. Always do your work with honesty, never cheat with your work. 4. Have Patience and don’t think about rewards. Keep up your hard work and one day it will pays off.
How would you describe yourself at work in so many years? It’s only been two years since I am doing this retouching work but I learned a lot as a retoucher. In early days, I only have two clients, so it was easy to work with them but as I kept building my portfolio, a lot of clients was approached me for work, sometimes I was so busy that I was working on 5 to 6 projects simultaneously and that also without any secondary help. Till today I work as a single person. I don’t have any team right now. Working as a single person taught me a lot of things like, how to talk to clients, how to advertise your work, how to deal with discounts for recurring clients, how to manage work with so many clients and how to deal with legal issues with clients. I started from scratch but right now I have a long list of clientele.
What’s the most important thing you want your potential clients to know about you? I am a freelance Retoucher, who believes in Quality then Quantity. I always give priority to Quality no matter how much time it takes. I know for clients, time is important and so as for me but you have to understand that the retouching work requires a lot of patience and hard work and if you don’t give proper time, you will not get proper results.
If you could say one thing to someone younger who looks up to you, what would you say? Keep doing your work with honesty and never keep expectations with anyone. Give your 100% to your work and have patience and whatever happens, never give up. Always believe in yourself and at last, Practice, Practice and Practice.
Has your vision and style evolved or changed over time? Yes my style changed a lot since I began my journey and it should be, otherwise you can’t survive here. There is a lot of competition here and every other retoucher has his/her unique style of doing their work. Still there are lots of retouchers out there who use the old techniques of frequency separation which makes the images to look plastic and blurry. I too used those techniques in my early days but now I always keep myself updated with new techniques and software.
Who were your biggest influences? There were lots of people out there who influenced me in my journey. Some of them are: • Pratik Naik • Lara Gilles • Retouch Center • Retouching Academy
What are your hopes/dreams for your future? Since I started my journey, I always dreamed of my work to get published in international magazines. Lately but those dreams are becoming true. Apart from that, some years ahead in my future I hope I can open my own Academy of Photography and Retouching where I can help new creators to achieve their dreams.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW With Oskaras Povilėnas
Please briefly tell us about your background. Who is Oskaras Povilėnas?
Beauty is diversity Vulnerability is strength Oskaras
Oskaras Povilenas is a direct reflection of my interpretation of human beauty and diversity with high standards in regard to quality, sustainability, ethics and individuality. I am creating every piece based on a sharp imagination of a woman’s character, including posture and the way she moves. The only aspects left blank are body shape, hair and eye colour, those are of no importance. I think of how to reflect the obvious and the more subtile characteristics of this woman in my design. The former, along with posture and movement, influences mainly the decision on cut and fabric, while the latter ones have huge impact on the details, which then directly reflect the sophistication of a woman. This is how I create an array of unique women, this is how I create beauty.
Are there particular issues within the fashion industry that concern you?
When did you know you wanted to be a fashion designer?
It was a continuous process more than one particular moment. I was a very calm and thoughtful child and was the happiest sitting alone in my room and drawing lines. And only lines. They fascinated me in a way that they form the basis of any shape and you have limitless opportunities to create. Through the years I started to be interested not only in drawing but also in fashion. Building the understanding of the complex interaction between a person’s conscious and if not more unconscious cognitive processes and the fashion they wear reflecting more of themselves than most would be expecting was essential for my fascination. I ended up being driven by the high impact and responsibility fashion has on an individual as well as on society. By the beauty of diversity.
16
The brilliance of highlights was distracting from the challenges of the fashion industry heavily in the past decades. The pandemic came as a boon and bane. Meaning it gave us the needed time to step back and reflect where we stand, whilst being economically highly challenging. We were situated in a treadmill of quantity, growth and excellence that placed a high pressure on creativity and is its ultimate enemy. It was noticeable that quality suffered. In order to be creative it is essential to take the time to think and reflect. This was simply not possible thinking of the 4+ collections that had to be designed and produced every year. While the production slowed down, the sustainability movement accelerated this year. Before the pandemic the industry did put very little aspect to the wide range of meaning this word implies. Yet it is the future. We as an industry of visionaries are responsible to bring the future to the present.
Fashion & Beauty | October 2020
What's the most important thing you want your potential clients to know about you? Beauty is diversity. Vulnerability is strength. Please take a moment and think about those words.
What are your goals for the near future and do you have any exciting project you want to share with us? My future visions are curated by my history, with the present being the modulator of the process. I am planning innovating design in a new way once I gathered enough resources. Many ideas are stored in my mind that wait to be finalised and transformed into exclusive designs. It might take some time, as the fashion world needs to recover from the economical downside of the pandemic but I am a very enduring person. I will always be a designer, as I simply cannot be someone else.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW With Anna Liljestrand
Please briefly tell us about your background. Who is Anna Liljestrand? I’ve been a hairstylist for nearly 20 years, my career started in Sweden where I earned my cosmetology and Master licenses. I’ve worked in Copenhagen Denmark, Stockholm Sweden, and New York City and now in Phoenix AZ. My love of art influences my work as a hairstylist. In my spare time, I paint in acrylic and sketch. Some of my paintings have been displayed in galleries in Sweden.
What, in your opinion, is the most important quality in a hair stylist? Knowledge of proportions, shapes and how to make it work in front and behind the camera, to be thorough with your work and love your artistry, and have fun!
What is your favorite hairstyle look and why? I love creating avant guard hair styles, hair styles that push me to figure out shapes and forms, styles that come alive behind the camera, a style that transforms into a piece of art in itself. I also love wedding style hair, it’s a positive environment and it makes you create something special for that unique special day.
Tell me about a time you had a very stressful day at work and how did you handle it? The most stressful day in my career was the first time I participated in New York Fashion Week. I had no experience in that kind of fast paced environment where you’re working on someone else’s creation and it has to be perfect. I loved it and thrived on it and have done many other shows including more seasons of NY Fashion Week, NY Bridal Week, and Philadelphia Fashion Week. I’m not afraid of asking questions, gathering as much information as possible, watching other more experienced stylists and learning from them, and mirroring the vision of the lead hairstylist.
What skills have you learned that will help you in your career? there are many skills but one that stands out is the art of mirroring, inspired to translate what I see into a desired style for the clients and photographers. I take inspiration from my surrounding, whether it’s a flower or a building, but also from an era that challenges my creativity.
Has there been someone who has really helped you? There are three people and I cannot mention one without mentioning the others. The first one is Anneli Persson who was the first person who believed in me when I first started as an apprentice in Sweden, she took me under her wings, showed me everything she knew. She became my mentor and has been throughout my career. The second person is Kat Bishop in the US who opened the doors to my career in NY when she invited me to be join the team she was on and that was my first NY Fashion Week. Without her trusting me, I wouldn’t be here today. The third person is my favorite makeup artist Erik Smithwick. We work as one fearless team, he makes my creation come alive with his makeup artistry, he’s always honest with his feedback, and he’s my perfect partner with whom to bounce ideas. I am forever grateful to all three of them.
If you could say one thing to someone younger who looks up to you, what would you say? Don’t be scared to ask for help, the chances are very high someone will be willing to help you but if you never ask, be 100% assured you’ll get nothing. Volunteer to assist others, be a sponge and learn as much as you can. Always be humble, very few people enjoy working with a diva, and be open to continuously learning. The day you stop learning is the day you should probably look for another career.
What does life look like for you now and where do you see yourself in the future? If you had asked me this question 4 or 5 years ago, I wouldn’t have imagined my life today. Today I live in Arizona after spending 4 years in New York City and travel to NYC every other month to continue the journey I started 4 years ago to develop my artistry, meeting new models and photographers, working with the same amazing makeup artist, Erik Smithwick. While I’m in Arizona, I also do some editorial work and focus my time on weddings. In the future, I envision working with other experienced hairstylists and new comers to learn new techniques and explore different media. I can also imagine retuning to Europe in 8 to 10 years and continue my journey.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW With Sergei Yahchybekov Can you give us a bit of background on how your career evolved? I've always loved photography and experimented shooting a lot when I was a teen. I started off with landscape and urban photography, as I loved architecture and travelling and seeing the world. I eventually realized that I love shooting people and the intimate connection that happens, so started doing more portrait work.
What are the most difficulties during your shoots? For me personally, the difficult comes before the shoot. I put a lot of pressure on myself to create beautiful work, so sometimes the planning and brainstorming ahead of shoots can give me a lot of anxiety and insecurity. However, once I push past that, I usually love being in the moment and shooting. There are definitely still things that go wrong, but if you have a positive attitude, you can overcome it. At the end of the day, it's not life or death stuff, it's just trying to create beautiful images. If it doesn't go well, it's not the end of the world.
Could you share how you expand your vision of art, as a photographer? I'm inspired by a variety of things such as films, architecture, music, fashion, etc. I'm a very visual person, so basically I'm always looking around to be inspired. I also like to work with inspiring people and they encourage me to be better and more creative.
If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career what would it be? It's not something just to tell yourself at the beginning of your career, but at all times: Be true to yourself, trust your vision and don't let other peoples' opinions affect your self worth. That being said, be open to feedback and learning further.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be? This is a loaded question, because there are a lot of things that could change for the better. I think for one, artists should know their value. Unfortunately in the age of social media, brands feel like they can get free work from artists because someone is always willing to do it for credit. I also wish photographers focused less on expensive gear and more on their vision and the artistry of it. Less is more in many cases.

Please briefly tell us about your background. Who is Jerzy Madison? I am a seventeen-year-old model who is currently signed with three agencies in Canada. I was scouted by my mother agency Richards Models in 2015 at a nail salon near my home. I have been with them for the past five years and owe them the majority of my success. This industry has aided my growth as an individual and helped me develop a strong mind, confidence, and determination. In my free time, I like sewing, kickboxing, acting, painting and going for runs with friends.
You have worked with Sergei Yahchybekov several times before, what is it like to shoot with him? I booked my first job with Ivivva when I was twelve. For the year I was working with them, I learned a lot about getting comfortable in front of the camera and posing for e-commerce. I believe that the majority of my success came from having an agency that cares about me and my career. When I have a question or need advice, they are always there to guide me. The advice that I would give to other models is to keep yourself healthy, enjoy your career, and develop relationships in the industry.
How do you stay fit and healthy? What is your exercise and diet regimen like? I spend two hours in the gym three to four days a week. I mainly focus on running and have adapted sprint training into my routine. Although, I enjoy supplementing a variety of different workouts like platies, yoga, hiking, snowboarding, biking, and kickboxing into my exercise regime. For my diet, I primarily consume plant-based meals. It allows my body to recover faster so that I can constantly push myself. Every morning, I start my day off with oatmeal. It’s the one thing that has been consistent in my diet for the last ten years. It’s a simple meal filled with vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants, and can be elevated by plenty of toppings.

Have you ever been camera shy? I have always been a shy person growing up so it was a struggle for me to get comfortable in front of the camera. It took me a few years before I could gain enough confidence to be able to have fun with it. My biggest concern was wanting to avoid embarrassment, which held me back from breaking out of my shell. After years I finally realized that people didn’t care as much as I thought they had.
As a model, is it difficult to get past the more superficial aspects of beauty and social media? I have found that modeling has made me more comfortable in my body. Although it is not the average story that one hears about the modeling industry. Growing up in this position has taught me confidence and self-love. Though it was difficult, I have taught myself to focus on self-improvement rather than the superficial aspects of beauty and social media.
What are the next challenges in your future?
Before the pandemic, I was planning on traveling for modeling full time. Although with the uncertainty surrounding the near future, I have begun considering furthering my education sooner than I expected. Since I don’t want to rush into anything out of fear of lost time, I've been inquiring about a variety of different life paths. I love my job and want to continue modeling and I have recently even started pursuing acting while I give things time to fall into place.
If you could go back to the past, is there anything you would change? If I could go back in time, I would have enjoyed my childhood more. I wouldn’t have let my fear of judgment and underachievement persuade my decisions.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW With Lana Svet Can you give us a bit of background on how your career evolved? It was unplanned... One day I just picked up the camera and maked the first shot. Then the second...third. Hundredth and thousandth... And voila- i'm already sick about the photography and see the world (and especially people) only in the frame =) I was luckier than most. My boyfriend (now my husband) had some shooting experience, and he guided me. Sometimes even against my will=) For example, i wanted to buy a new advanced digital camera, but instead i shot with a simple film camera for a whole year. Every time i felt like i needed to change something, we searching new ways together. I tried different films, different lenses, different technologies, different styles... Sometimes i thinked that i slow down compared to others. But finally i learned to value every shot. I flipped photo-albums and tried to understand interpretation of great photographers of the past. How they developed their personal style. And once time i understand what exactly realy make the photos. It`s your eyes and your finger. Not camera. Camera and lenses just fixed it. Help to create a form. And you must to see when exactly should be moved the finger to press release button. One moment before...And i think this understanding was most important moment in my career. Not meeting, not exhibitions, not contests, and not commercial succes. Only after this understanding my carreer was really started . I started sensible process of learning and searching for the right equipment and technologies. And this proccess go on.
When did your passion for photography start and what were the main milestones that turned you into the artist you currently are? Now i understand it was predefined. Four years ago i was sorting old boxes at my parents' house and found old films and an old camera. It was my grandfather's camera, and we shot films together long time ago, as my mother said. I think this moments with my grandfather was step one. In my adult life, it was a moment when i maked my first 120 film with medium camera. It was Bronica=) And it was love at first sight. And I still use it to shoot. Second milestone was a moment when one man wanted to buy my work. It was not my client, not a publisher, not critic...it was just a viewer, visitor. I was shoked. And so i undestand that my works can be interest not only for customers and privat clients. I understand that i can make pure art. It was very important moment for me, when i realy belive in myself.
What are the most difficulties during your shoots? Searching for an individuality of model. Her originality, her charisma... Something special. Something not similar to other. Sometimes it's just an special angle or a special light... We named that "rakurs". But sometimes it`s very difficult. You "don`t see" the model. Or model is not gonna come out simply =) and this is the most important thing in photography: story, character. And so, you start the search. And you don't have much time. And you don't have a second chance... That is most difficult.
I’ve read that planning is incredibly important to your work. Where do you start? Do you keep journals or work from mood boards? No. Absolutly not=) It`s my biggest problem.
At what point did you realize that you wanted to be a creative person professionally? When my client payed me more than i asked. That`s when i understand that i can realy make business with my hobby.
What should we expect from Lana in the near future? New shots, new works =) I've been working on a project for several years. It`s about humans and his pets. Named "Metamorphosis". Dedicated to a magical phenomenon when pets and their owners become similar to each other over the years. In the process ow working i noticed that many animals are very similar to different historical, literary or cinematic characters. And from these observation was born another project about parallel universe without humans. Working title: "guess who?". You look at picture of an animal, but you see, for example, d'Artagnan... or Caesar... or de Niro =) When I have collected enough stories and images, i will start preparing for the exhibition and publication.
What do you think is the hardest thing in your life you've ever had to overcome?
So far, the most difficult thing in my life has been overcoming myself fears, diffidence, and my laziness. And let it stay so-)
If you could go back to the past, is there anything you would change? Yes. But i don't want to talk about it =)

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW With Kristina Alpha
Tell us about the development process that culminated in the artist you are today.
I never thought that I would do photography. My plan was to become a motion designer. About 9 years ago, in my second year in college, I took a camera in my hands for the first time. And since then, the world of photography has completely captured my attention.
How does it feel to see your work on the cover of MALVIE Magazine?
I take pride in my work and my team. This is a delight! I am very glad that my works were taken to such a promising magazine. Also on the cover of the magazine!
As the expert you are, what are the unique features of this kind of photography and the keys to master it? First of all, it is the aesthetics of glamor and style in glossy photography. We sell fashion, which is an important part of this art form.
What is the secret for an image to become unforgettable? You need to think over all the details from the moment you create the mood board. Moodboard is a presentation for your entire team. Moodboard is a clear understanding of what should be the result. When the team has an understanding of what they need to do, the image comes together like a puzzle.
How long does it take to create one of these wonderful works? Much depends on the idea, people and location. We have been preparing for this work for a week.
What's been the biggest highlight in your career so far? Interview for an internet site on photography. Publications in magazines, but now my biggest event in my career happened to be my first cover for your magazine.
Has there been someone who has really helped you?
Of course. Without the help of my family and friends, I would have abandoned photography long ago. They believe in me, and thanks to this faith I find the strength for creativity.
What are your goals for the near future and do you have any exciting project you want to share with us? Now I am investing a lot in myself. My goal is to promote my personal brand and expand my audience. I want to be useful to the whole creative family. One of my closest projects is the introduction of 3D graphics into photography. I don't want to exist within boundaries, so we will create new worlds and I hope you like them.

MALVIE Magazine's
Exclusive Interview With over 10 years of experience in photoshooting, retouching, teaching and publishing, I am confident in my consistency to deliver great results up to the high magazine standards. My name is Veronika Matejova, however all my business and photography work is under my pseudonym - Vera Change. I am originally from Slovakia, but for the last 6 years I have been based in the North West of England. I am an internationally published photographer with a vivid background in the modelling industry as an in-house photographer and as a scout manager for a recognized modelling agency. I am also a former managing editor of the best selling magazine for men in Slovakia. As I have a Master degree in journalism, my whole life was - and still is - dedicated to publishing, writing and photography.
Can you give us a bit of background on how your career evolved? I am taking pictures as long as I can remember. My dad was hobby/part time photographer so I grew up surrounded by pictures and cameras. I quickly realised that I love taking pictures of people above everything else, so my friends and family would have always plenty of free pictures from me. :) Then I started taking it more seriously when I turned 18, back in 2008, and shortly after that I became an inhouse photographer for a small modeling agency back in Slovakia. Over the years I tried it all - portfolio shoots, engagement portraits, families, boudoir, I even shot few weddings back in the day. But I would always come back to working with models as I find that the most exciting.
Tell us about your debut as a photographer. What characteristics do you think have made you so successful? It wasn’t until I moved to England in 2014. All the years before that I would have small wins and glimpses of succes like winning photogaphy competition, shooting for bigger client, or having my images apper in magazines. But really, only after I moved to the UK is when I started seeing the real success. It didn’t come right away - I was in different country, I didn’t know anyone in here, I didn’t even know the language properly. But I was lucky enough to find amazing and creative poeple and that definitelly help me to get when I am today. I would still shoot fashion and editorials for magazines, but I felt my work is really mediocre - like everyone else is doing

the same and my work is absolutelly not standing out from the crowd. That’s when I found beauty. All it took was 2 shoots, and I knew right away, this is what I want to do. I fell in love with beauty photography, with all the closeups, makeup, retouching and with everything that comes with beauty so much, that I decided to niche down, ditched my whole fashion portfolio that I build over the course of 8 years and started focusing solely on beauty photography. And that’s when it all started. You can say that the 8 years of shooting everything else prior focusing on beauty was a lost time, but I choose to see the positive side. If I haven’t try it all, if I didn’t gain all the experience before, if I haven’t learned from my own mistakes over the years, I don’t think my beauty work would be anywhere near as good as it is now.
Could you share how you expand your vision of art, as a photographer? I am always trying to get my photograps some purpose. Either with use of makeup, props, facial expressions, light or colours, and sometimes with all together. Whenever I shoot - either for a client or for my personal project - I am always very conscious about the harmony of elements that creates the photography. Is this makeup going to suits the model? Does this colour compliment her complexion? What kind of light would convey the right vibe and emotion? Does use of props going to support or contradict the idea behind these pictures? All these questions

are equally important, and when you manage to put them all together in balanced way, that’s when you create something beautiful and stand out from the crowd. Personally, I am amazed with the power of colour and its harmonies. I am big fan of monochromatic and analogous looks - when all the colours used in the picture are very similar to each other - but I love to experiment as well. Understanding which colours compliment each other and works best together is the first step towards better pictures. Then, there is the light. When I am on the set, I usually have very clear idea on what I want the light to be. The choice many times depends on what model we have on the shoot, what is her complexion and what colours of makeup we are using. If we are going for romantic/dreamy vibes, I will choose very soft, maybe even hazy light. On the other hard, if we are going for passion or any kind of powerful emotion, I would go for hard light, with high contrast between light and shadow areas, to support the vibe.

What will be your suggestions or advice to new photographers that just starting out? I would say: study. And practice, practice, practice. Photography is very intuitive and subjective field, and rules are there to be broken. I know. But you need to know and understand the rules, to be able to break them. You need to understand the How’s and Why’s and believe me, that knowledge is going to help you create something amazing.
If you could say one thing to your younger self, what would you say? It would probably be: “You’re doing great, keep going!” You probably think that’s wasted opportunity, don’t you? (Laugh) Well I don’t think my younger self would listen to any thoughtful advice, to be honest. And I still think it all worked out for the best. I made lots of mistakes, but I learned from them. I went through all the photography genres you can imagine, I tried it all, and partly thank’s to all those experiences I am today a better photographer than I would be without it. I have still plenty to learn, there are many, many thing I still don’t understand, things I want to be better at and things I want to achieve. I believe they will all come eventually, at the right time, when I will be ready for them. I just need to keep working hard, keep creating, keep learning and it will all work out.
Do you have an all-time favourite photograph from your career? I don’t. I have many photographs that I absolutelly love, one is even from 2009 when I shot for the modeling agency for the first time. But that is just one of many photos from my career, that I love. And all of them are my favourites for different reasons: some might remind me of fantastic shoot, some might be a proud “trophy” of a bigger success, some of them I am proud of because I was able to create something with virtually nothing, and some of them are just absolutely beautiful to look at. I love to print my work, so handful of my favourite photographs are displayed in my studio, printed in large scale, but I do change them onece or twice a year, because every new shoot brings something better and more exciting.
Who would you most like to collaborate with? That’s a hard question! I have a long list of people I would love to work with, but the list is changing every day. Generally speaking, I love to collaborate with people that appreciate my work, people that are creative, and people that say yes to my (many times crazy) ideas. Like for instance, I’ve had a shoot with a client back in 2019 and I felt like for this one particular look, something was needed to be aded to make it even more edgy than it was. So - going completely off the moodboard we had - I asked if they were okay with pouring some water on the model and - ultimatelly destroying the makeup look the makeup artist worked so hard on for the last hour and half. They said yes! Thank God for that, because the image we created became widly popular and its one of the best I’ve created so far.

What has been the highlight of your career so far and what are your hopes/dreams for the future? I must say that lots of big highlights happened in last few weeks/months, despite the current situation in the world. The biggest step for me, personally, was signing a contract with a production agency that is now representing me in the commercial world - Muse Productions London. I am thrilled for all the opportunities that this will bring my way, and I believe there will be plenty! Looking forward for new challenges and again learning and experiencing something new. Photography has always been very exciting and glamorous for me, I am forever grateful that I am able to make living with it and do all day every day something that I love with my whole heart. I am trying to stay with my feet on the ground when comes to dreams and hopes, but what’s the point of dreaming if it’s not something big, right? My ultimate dream, the one thing that I dream about ever since I can remeber, is to shoot in NYC and have my photograps on a billboard at Times Square. I mean… who wouldn’t want that? :)

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW With Rebeca Federico
Can you give us a bit of background on how your career evolved? I have always had a love for photography! When I got my first digital camera I started with self-portraits and tried to tell a story with each image. Assisting fashion photographers fueled my passion for beauty and fashion photography.
What characteristics do you think have made you so successful? What advice could you offer? Being determined and staying focused. Don’t get discouraged. I am always looking to improve my images in camera with use of light. That is something I really recommend, before turning to post production to correct issues that could have been avoided altogether.
Could you share how you expand your vision of art, as a photographer? Always look for inspiration in different places. New colors, backgrounds and elements in the studio can be altered in different ways each time I pick up my camera.
Who is the person that inspires you the most and why? My husband Andrew is also a photographer and although we shoot different subject matter, I have been influenced by his use of light, shadow, and composition.
If you could say one thing to someone younger who looks up to you, what would you say? Don't get caught up in the popularity contest of photography and instagram. Photography like any creative field is an art form and subjective in a lot of ways. Create art and images you believe in and shoot them because that’s your creativity at work.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
There are so many people I look up to in this industry. I want to work with people who are passionate about what they do and expand my creativity. I am always looking for new artists to collaborate with.

What has been the highlight of your career so far and what are your hopes/dreams for the future? In the last few years I have had the pleasure of seeing my images in print magazines, such as VOGUE, and have won multiple awards. Growing my studio business, working with major brands collaborating with more talented artists to create something new every day.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW With Elena Soloveva Please briefly tell us about your background. Who is Elena Soloveva? I am a portrait, fashion and beauty photographer. I’ve been working in the sphere for 6 years.
When did your passion for photography start and what were the main milestones that turned you into the artist you currently are? I fell in love with photography at the age of 16. Gradually my hobby grew into a profession. I remember my first commercial shooting it was in 2004 year. My client wanted a studio photo session so I was extremely nervous but I coped with the lightning and she liked the pictures. During the first three years, I was actively studying studio photography, attended many master classes. I especially was captured by the genre of beauty. At the same time, I tried to develop myself in wedding photography. I quickly realized that my love for advertising beauty and fashion photography is stronger and I left wedding photography. Collaboration with creative people from related fields, joint work on advertising companies of world famous beauty brands, became a huge impetus in my development as a photographer.
We admire the exquisite level of detail in all your works. Does your creative process start from a certain image in your mind, or do you seek inspiration as you progress? I really love to organize creative photo sessions to realize the idea that comes to my mind. Everything starts with an idea and careful preparation. I put together a mood board, then look for specific references for the rest of the team. I think over the lighting scheme in advance. After that, I am looking for a certain type of model, makeup artist and stylist who have a similar view of creativity. The best improvisation is prepared improvisation
What would you say is your style?
I love to capture sophisticated looks in natural and pastel shades
What are the technical challenges of this kind of photography and how did you overcome them? On the set, it is very important to accurately set the lighting scheme. When it comes to beauty photography, the most time-consuming part of the job is retouching. I process the photos myself. This is a fundamental moment for me because retouching is a continuation of the general idea. It can take 2 hours to retouch one frame.
As the expert you are, what are the unique features of this kind of photography and the keys to master it?
As I mentioned above, it's important to go to the set with a thoughtful idea. In beauty photography, high-quality retouching with preservation of skin texture is very important too.
How did the idea for this photo shoot come about? I had a desire to shoot a model with a flower and soft light to create a graceful look. Initially, I planned to shoot with a different flower, but in the process of preparation I realized that cotton would better emphasize the model's facial features and her makeup
What exciting new project should we expect from you in the future? I have a special folder where I collect my ideas. I try to move within my style, but always bring something new and use new lighting schemes. I have an idea to create a series of different works that will be dedicated to one idea. In my work there was a period when I often shot with colour gel filters, now I feel that I want to return to similar lighting schemes, but with a new delicate reading

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW With Anastasia Iliainen
Can you give us a bit of background on how your career evolved? My career has gone through a difficult path. This is how they do it in Russia. A man bought a camera, so you are a photographer. But I went to study. Gradually I studied the art of photography at the University of Cinema and TV and with the best photographer in the country, Igor Sakharov. Igor Sakharov was able to discover for me the magic of light in photography. Now I photograph for glossy magazines. I chose fashion photography and portrait for myself. Together with my friend and wonderful makeup artist Vlada Sumenkova, we create interesting images, come up with ideas for photo shoots and bring them to life.
Tell us about your debut as a photographer. What characteristics do you think have made you so successful? What advice could you offer? I have been photographing my whole life, but I became a professional photographer 8 years ago. Then people did not perceive me. But I consider my first publication in the glossy magazine Generation in Russia to be my debut. My most important qualities are professionalism and love for photography. I enjoy the creation process. And I always strive to learn something new. At the beginning of the journey they laughed at me, and now they ask how to do the same. I give advice to my students. Be professional, explore, love, create.
Could you share how you expand your vision of art, as a photographer? I look at the world, at people. This is inspiring. Every moment is unique.

Henri Cartier-Bresson, Alexander Rodchenko, Patrick Demarchelier, Mario Testino, Igor Sakharov, Sails Chong. They create beauty.
134
What do you think the biggest misconception about you is?
The biggest misconception is that photography is simple. Press the button and that's it. But this is not the case. It's a lot of work on composition, lighting, camera settings and the person in front of the camera. It takes a lot of knowledge and experience.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
My dream is to cooperate with the best. The best designers, models, magazines. I can’t name any one, I want to create beauty.
Do you have an all-time favourite photograph from your career? Why?
I have a lot of favorite photographs in my career. But probably the most beloved one, made while traveling in Norway. I love nature, and in Norway, nature is amazing. All the power and beauty of the fjord is inspiring.
What has been the highlight of your career so far and what are your hopes/dreams for the future?
The most vivid impression was meeting one of the best photographers - Igor Sakharov. He is a wonderful person and an amazing professional. I dream of becoming a famous photographer. My dream is to work all over the world. I want to show my vision.
