Legacy Park, Hobart

If you’re looking for the perfect playground to host an outdoor birthday party, or to just have a whole heap of fun, then look no further than Legacy Park. We visited on a pretty grey day and there were still heaps of parties going on. Legacy Park has really cool, natural adventure play space that is suitable for children of all ages, plus an accessible community space for barbecues and picnics, an outdoor amphitheatre, two pizza ovens (yep, cook your own party food!), public toilets and shelters. The park has been named in recognition of the considerable contribution of Legacy to Hobart and the wider Australian community. The playspace is designed for children of different ages and abilities, inviting children to climb, clamber and use their imagination when playing. Discovery gardens, climbing walls carved out of sandstone and lookouts form part of the experience. Mimicking the grandeur of the dolerite escarpments on kunanyi/Mt Wellington, terraced rock walls protect the area from wind. The playscape was developed using feedback from local schools and a range of stakeholders and community groups to create a space that is really special for families and we know you are all going to love it.
