fab famIly fun The school holidays may be over and lunchbox Mama back on duty but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop! Perth has so many wonderful activities, events and adventures to keep your free time fun filled right through to the next school holidays!! Here are some of Mama’s favourites.
1. Fringe World Festival Fringe World Kids - Until 13th Feb. Looking for wow-factor entertainment for the whole family this summer? Fringe Kids is where it’s at! The enormous line-up includes sidesplitting comedy and thrilling circus plus heaps of free outdoor activities. Whether it’s a day at the theatre, dinner and a show or a sunny day with the FRINGE WORLD mermaids, you’ll all have a blast!
2. The 35th Hyde Park Festival 6th - 7th March - Corner of Vincents and Williams Street, Mt Lawley. The Hyde Park festival is celebrating it’s 35th year with it’s biggest festival yet! Brought to you by the Rotary Club of North Perth raising funds for Path of Hope and their vital work in Western Australia the festival will be packed full of your favourites as well as some new and exciting activities! Get the whole family together for a fun day under the beautiful trees of Hyde Park enjoying the rides, entertainment, yoga, showbags, stalls and food, all for a good cause!
3. Sculpture By The Sea Cottesloe Beach - 4th-21st March The popular annual outdoor sculpture exhibition Sculpture by the Sea returns to transform Cottesloe’s famous white sands. This stunning exhibition is taking up residence from the sea wall all the way along the sand to North Cottesloe. Keep a lookout on the surrounding grassed areas too where you’ll spot even more sculptures in their own sculpture park.

4. Telethon Community Cinemas Murdoch - The Addams Family 2 Sat 12th Feb, Murdoch University. Family ticket $35. There are heaps of movies to choose from but we’re choosing everyone’s favourite spooky family and watching The Addams Family 2! Telethon Community Cinemas Murdoch is run by volunteers, all profits are proudly donated to kids’ charities through Telethon. There’ll be a great range of food and drink to tantalize those taste buds and enjoy. The cinemas are also fully licensed with a wide range of wines, beers, ciders, pre-mixed and soft drinks available.
5. Perth Festival 11th Feb - 6th March. Perth Festival is a not-for-profit multi-arts festival that brings world class performance, music, film, visual arts and literary events to Perth every summer. The whole family can enjoy some of the very best performances from WA’s greatest artists (and some international acts too) getting creative in our community. The 2022 Perth Festival will be a celebration of place – our city, our river, our State and our state-of-mind. Family Day in Freo on Sun 27 Feb at Fremantle Arts Centre sounds awesome.
6. Sculpture at Bathers Fremantle’s Bathers Beach Art Precinct. 19 Feb - 17 March. Free. This huge collection of Sculptures and interactive artworks will be featured along the timber boardwalks, paths, grassed areas, ocean and inside Kidogo Arthouse at the Bathers Beach precinct. The perfect opportunity to grab the kids’ scooters and a picnic and make the most of a sunny day! Sculpture at Bathers presents the excellence and diversity of WA’s finest and emerging sculptors, and it’s free!!
