He began rapping under the influence of his friend and artist Antoine “Bomb Nameless” Hagler Jr, who invited him to a studio. Despite his initial nervousness, he stepped into the booth and began recording music. His friend liked how he rapped and gave him the nickname J Rydah for his ability to “ride the beat.”

J Rydah describes his music as "reality rap," as it draws on his life experiences,

including the loss of close friends and family to prison or death. He lost his videographer due to complications from COVID-19. He honors the memory of loved ones by staying focused on his music, which they always encouraged him to pursue Their pictures line the walls of his home based studio, reminding him to keep pushing forward.

“I want to carry their legacy by not giving up,” said J Rydah. “I think of them when I’m making music and that’s what keeps me going–knowing they wanted me to take music seriously”

He recently went on a 12-city tour with another artist by the name of King Lil G. Because several show dates were scheduled closely together, it forced J Rydah to do something he thought he’d never do–catch a flight. Now, the artist is

on the move flying wherever he needs to in order to promote his music. He is excited to share his music with listeners all over the country and hopes to inspire others to pursue their dreams

“I think at this point in my career I’m just trying to stay dialed in,” said J Rydah “With anything you set out to do you’ll have obstacles that make you want to give it all up–but even throwing in the towel takes effort.”

It’s this mindset that inspired the title of the album. J Rydah hopes the project will resonate with other people from the trenches who haven’t had the easiest life or have had to endure the loss of family and friends

Keep an eye out for J Rydah's new album "Tunnel Vision," set to drop later this month.
