4 Air India CIP Lounge, Heathrow Sector : Aviation Project Value : ÂŁ0.8M Area : 300 Sq M Capita Symonds was appointed from RIBA Stage E onwards for this interior fit-out project. The original design was conceived by Building Design Practice for BAA. I was involved in generating the detailed design package in accordance with BAA standards while adhering to the concept. I was also responsible for client communication and day to day running of the project on site.

H

ighbury Magistrates’ Court, London Sector : Justice Project Value : £3.4M Area : 1450 Sq M Capita Symonds was appointed from RIBA Stage E onwards for this major refurbishment project. I worked with The Court Standards Design Guide and the Building Regulations for design development and specification. Delivered on programme and budget this project forms a key part of my project running experience.

Year 2011 - 12 Assistant

C

herry Hinton Junior School, Cambridge Sector : Education Project Value : ÂŁ4.9M Area : 1750 Sq M Capita Symonds delivered this new built primary school project from inception to completion for Cambridgeshire County Council and later for Morgan Sindall as lead consultants under a D&B contract. While accompanying the project architect to all site meetings I observed the project and gained valuable experience of construction on site.

Year 2012 Designer

R

esort in Saudi Arabia Bid Sector : Commercial Area : 13,500 Sq M I acted as a designer for this bid and created a city of maze following my architectural intuition in the absene of an existing context. Spaces are created by carving out mass from the built form and interlocking cubes. This creates a three dimensional maze of activities connected through courtyards and colonnades. The design reflects the essence of ancient Arabic architecture echoed in their pure forms while being modern in aesthetics.

Year 2011 - 12 Concept Designer

K

nights Bridge Master plan, Kings Lynn Sector : Residential Master planning Capacity : 650 homes Area : 27Ha I carried out contextual studies and derived a concept which was later developed into the master plan. The concept is to create green corridors to allow the existing wood to extend into the development and create connections between different ecological zones and open areas. The houses are then arranged to create a fabric much similar to the surrounding with three character areas.

Year 2011 - 12 Lead Designer

M

ulti-storey Car Park Sector : Commercial Project Value : £16M Area : 15,000 Sq M The car park accommodates 560 cars in 6 floors and forms part of a major redevelopment of a Hospital. The design responds to the brief by creating a simple and functional yet interesting facade for otherwise “dull and boring” function of a car park. The arrangement of the stainless steel cladding and the coloured undersides of the soffits add playfulness to the building and makes it a dynamic mass in changing daylight.

Year 2011

Design Assistant, Graphic Designer

N

orfolk Academies Bid Sector : Education This bid responds to a brief to refurbish and extend a secondary school in Norfolk, Cambridgeshire to upgrade it’s status to an Academy. Three concepts were developed taking best advantage of the existing structure and the woodland. The building would be divided into different zones of learning with shared activity areas as HUBS. Few activities are placed to create direct linkages with the outdoor woodland to facilitate outdoor learning as a key experience.

Year 2010 - 11 Lead Designer

T

rumpinton Meadows Primary School & Community Centre Sector : Education Project Value : ÂŁ10M Area : 2700 Sq M The building will provide education space for 420 children and 60 staff along with community space. The key aim is to provide a welcoming building that integrates the school, early years and the wider community appropriately. This is achieved by increasing linkages with a spine which runs throughout the mass and acts as a glue to the activities taking place arround it.

E

co bridge in Wood green. The project focusses on a bottom up approach to local issues which are identified through a thorough analysis of the area. Deriving inspiration from the existing natural richness of Alexandra Park in Woodgreen, a new eco-center of London is proposed in the park. The eco-center will act as a generator of identity and will flow out to the urban fabric as fingers and connect two sides of the railway line which currently cuts the borough in two pieces creating distinct imbalance in their socioeconomic conditions.

T

he Urban Ascension. The project has been inspired by a simple inquisitiveness – what tomorrow is going to be like? The growing population of the metropolis is accommodated by increasing the density and vertically mixing land use in a three dimensional matrix where home, work and leisure are interwoven into a single neighbourhood. In an endeavour to make the sky approachable/available to public and to break the monotony of structure and ownership, a number of interconnected “public realms” in addition to the ground plane is proposed.

Year 2007 - 08

Intermediate Architect

V

arious projects. Dring the two years of work experience with Satellier India Pvt Ltd, I worked on six large scale international projects including residential and commercial developments in the USA and UK and high rise towers in the Middle East. By collaborating with renowned practices like SOM, Gensler, Fx Fowle & Mc Bains Cooper, as a part of drawing documentation and detail development team, I became aware of the international design processes, drawings standards and working methodology.

Year 2006

Bachelor of Architecture - Nagpur University, India

O

ffice tower in the city center of Noida. As a graduation thesis project I designed an environmentally friendly mixed use tower with due consideration to overall city center design. Various studies were conducted to understand the concepts of office planning, floor efficiency and massing in high rise structures. Extensive wind and sun studies were undertaken to fully exploit the climatic conditions on site. This resulted in a tower with climate responsive facades and sky courts at various levels for cross ventilation.

Year 2005

Architectural Intern

IT

Institute in Jabalpur. This is a winning entry for an IT institute competition which I was a part of during my internship in Kanvinde Rai & Choudhury. The campus sits on a contoured site with academic, hostel and residential blocks. The views from the river plays an integral part in the design of the academic block which steps down to the river and provides a beautiful space for interaction between the students.

Year 2005

Student design competition, India

I

nternational Trade Fare Center in Kolkata. The brief stipulated that steel as a building material should be explored and used in an innovative way with due consideration to the Indian construction context. A column free large span structure was designed with steel lamella and concrete foundations. The girders holding the lamella were tied at the top in an innovative way to allow movement due to both tension and compression and at the bottom for structural stability.
