COLLECTION Hesakã 1

HistorY — You are about to get into the story of two souls who joined in search of a new road close to the Ancient Egyptian Temple Of Debod in Madrid. A no-return journey ushered by love where-in our vocations, dreams, experiences and each other´s points of view on life also converged. A world created from our concerns and deepest dreams. A space where everything might be exactly as we wanted it to be while keeping the strong commitment to protect the sacred value that was offered to us on a warm late afternoon of August 19, 2013. “Welcome to our Mammisi world”. —Rubén and Diana

A Mammisi (Mamisi) is a small chapel attached to a larger temple, and associated with the nativity of a god in ancient Egypt. According to the texts and illustrations in these birth houses, this was where the divine child was born and brought up. It was a custom to dedicate the temple to a triad of gods, father- mother-son, since the mammisi was an architectural version of the myth of the divine birth and its eternal repetition: marriage, birth, upbringing and enthronement of the successor. Transmitting to every dynasty its sacred power protecting it in the heart of the big sanctuaries. Inspired by its meaning, we decided to create designs with our own philosophy. Understanding the natural as divine and the eternal as the responsibility of a sustainable practice.

Mammisi is inspired by the pure state of things. In the tangible state trying to capture emotion in every piece of clothing to create a bond with it and thus, to choose every design not only by their esthetics, but also by the sensations they cause on us. —Diana Ramíre z

« NATURAL SOUL»

— We design induced by the natural thing evoking our deepest vocations. A variety of subtle lines in harmony with the natural properties of organic textiles of high quality was added, creating comfortable pliant garments of extreme smoothness. A pleasure for the senses, which along with our principles of ethical and ecological responsibility and the incorporation of handmade embroideries of scarce production, turn them into unique garments of inestimable value.

Mammisi is born from within ourselves. From what we are essentially. From our childhood memories, from sensations we went through and dreams we have always had. The add value is the vocation that pushes us on to create. —RubÊn M atill a

Ñandutí

(spiderweb, in guarani language) — Ñanduti is a lace that is embroidered by hand with needle and thread on a frame. A traditional skill of Paraguay that needs of a laborious work and patience on the part of the weaver. An art that is generally passed down from mothers to daughters and done in a punctual form and very limited editions. Between two and ten days are needed to finish a ñanduti lace, depending on its size and the workmanship of its embroiderer. Legend has it that a mother was who first wove an embroidery, inspired on the web a spider was spinning with an admirable precision, to console her son who was wrangling for the love of Samimbi. The Mammisi mission is to recover these ancestral skills to prevent them from extinction, to generate wealth and to encourage its learning to the future generations. On the other hand, we apply them to our garments giving them a new usage that at the same time enhances value and history of each and every one of our designs.

My first memories show me as a child with a restless and dreamy spirit. Moments full of emotion in which I found a special feeling in handicraftcrafts, generalcrafts or painting figures with my fingers. My artistic reference was my mother, who lovingly taught me to always do everything I was into with a lot of care and commitment. Later I found out that I was feeling a big weakness for what it would turn into one of my biggest passions, the Spanish guitar.I used to daydream with the yearning to have a say on things and express myself , to tell stories and to travel anywhere my infinite imagination would lead me. My professional worries led me to start in 2007 my first project with which I took part, and was awarded a prize, in the Contest of Ideas for Young Entrepreneurs. From this moment I decided to guide my way towards my creative freedom and turn my vocation into a professional activity after the vision of that child who was dreaming of creating whatever he had pictured in his mind. A reunion in essence for creativity

DIANA RAMÍREZ Designer

From what I can remember of my childhood in Paraguay, where I keep my fondest memories onwards, I always felt strongly attached to nature. I loved walking around barefoot, the light, the silence, the rain... and I still have a liking to them all.. I used to spend summers in the countryside with my family surrounded by cotton fields and playing outdoors in the nature. Later I moved to Argentina.where I studied fashionable and textile design in the university of Buenos Aires. I used to spend entire nights drawing ideas of designs while sipping mate in company of “Floppy”, a very pretty white poodle. There I also attended courses to learn pattern designing, and upon arriving in Madrid , I also learnt fashion designing. Later I took a break to completly devote myself to my biggest creation, my son Homero. I am a romantic woman who likes emotive movies and relaxes weaving. Now I continue with a new project called Mammisi in which every clothing item I design keeps a bit of my history.

HESAKã Collection

(clarity, in guarani language) — In this collection we draw inspiration from the light, the clarity and that sensation we feel when we look at the sun with our eyes closed yet perceive its presence. That’s why in almost the entire collection we use white color which is Mammisi’s favorite. That white aura that radiate from people with special particularities, the color of diversity and what makes us unique. We also use black color which is the opposite and causes this effect of absence of light, creating a perfect canvas for colored embroidery which stand out in an absent background, getting back its shine. Mamissi lifestyle where light is always present and constantly nourishing our natural drive to continue pursuing our dreams until they are achieved — D i a n a R a m í re z
