When did you start collecting Sindy and why? I started collecting Sindy in lockdown in 2021 when I saw a Facebook post about Kid Kreations new Collectable Sindy. Reading about the release, it reminded me as a child I’d always wanted a Sindybut, the closest I got was owning an Action Girl by Palitoy. It was given to me at Christmas in 1975, I insisted she was my Action Man’s girlfriend LOLand I use to make her fashions myself

How do you find the Sindy collector community? I find the Sindy Community gives me great joy and comfort. I have made some wonderful friends since I started taking photos of my girls and posting them on social media

What is the most prized/treasured piece in your collection? My Shaping up 1985 Sindy of which I named Veronique. I have created her into a bit of a style icon. She’s not the most expensive doll in my collection but, I love her dearly (In fact she has become such an icon she is making her debut in this issue as a new Mam'selle style columnist, see pg. 24)

What is missing from your collection or, what are you lusting after? Definitely Sindy’s friend Gayle by Marx Toys If anyone would like to gift me one I would be over the moon! LOL

Do you have a favourite Sindy/outfit/scene setter? and why? I love Sunshine Girl (1977). I have one NRFB and it makes me smile when I look at it - as it’s so stylish and very typical of the 1970’s My favourite scenesetter has to be 1972/73 Sindy Super Show. I can send my Blonde Trendy Girl down the catwalk as she spins around in various fashions

Do you have a Sindy budget? How do you manage this - as it is so easy to overspend? I allow myself a set amount each month out of my wages, that I spend on Sindy. Have I ever dipped into my savings? - occasionally if I see a ‘must have over my budget? What do you think? LOL

What’s the best and worst part of collecting Sindy Dolls? The best is the buzz you get when you find a doll or fashion that you have be wanting for ages The worst is being outbid on an auction sale.

Any tips for Sindy Collectors? (What to look for, where to look, how to find a bargain etc) If you love the look of her then buy her Keep up-to-date with the current market prices and then you’ll know whether it’s a bargain or not!

Tell us about Veronique – what inspired you to come up with her story and shhh… you can tell us is she your favourite? I've always been involved in fashion in one way or another throughout my working career. I have developed her into a fashionista as I’ve gone along, and now she’s a bit of a Sindy celebrity on my Instagram account! LOL I admire the wonderful sense of style that French woman have, hence where her name is from. She is my favourite but that’s top secret in the Sindy cupboard!
