M4D and Deltek Vision

As you are aware we (Gordana, Rob, Marina and Charles) attended the Deltek Insight Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. Our attendance provided us with an opportunity to review current product knowledge, discuss best practice, network with design and industry professionals and review solution enhancements.

Bret Tushaus, Director of Deltek Product Management spoke to a large crowd of Vision customers at the Deltek Insight mini-general session. Bret described the features in the new release of Vision 7 – the most powerful release of Vision ever. “So many enhancements to help organizations accomplish more including, contract management, user defined information centers, employee realization, and VPM analysis cube expansion”. We are in the process of upgrading our Business Management System to Version 7.0. This will incorporate new dashboards for Business Performance, Operations Performance, Project Performance, Resource Planning and Client Relationship Management. The vision 7.0 upgrade also includes remote access to all modules.

Bret spoke about Deltek’s approach around mobile developments, which is about enabling the workforces from your entire organization to work wherever and whenever. Management for Design are about to release our first mobile app, Vision Mobile Timesheet which has been extensively used by design businesses in the US. This app has added flexibility and convenience to the Vision using mobile workforce.

We are currently working on a module called Touch Time, which offers the same functionality as the Vision Mobile Timesheet native iOS app but is supported on both iOS and Android and can be used on both phones and tablets. The beta for Touch Time is underway and the app will be generally available in the first quarter of next year.

Another new and exciting development is Touch CRM for Vision. The Touch CRM mobile app follows the same model as the Touch Time app. The initial focus of the CRM app will be on contacts, clients, opportunities and activities. We expect to be in beta in January and have the first version of the app generally available early in Q2 of 2013.

Next year we will be releasing a new tool that will allow you and your project managers to plan and manage more – Vision Navigator. It’s a tool intended to give project managers what they need to navigate their projects – plan, review and execute their projects in a streamlined and consolidated manner.

“We are super – excited about this new tool because we feel it will empower project managers like never before”, stated Bret. We have built it by drawing inspiration from industry best practices around project management in an effort to create a tool that works and thinks like project managers.

Navigator is also a browser based app that is tablet enabled so project managers can use it from anywhere they have a browser and an internet connection. To get more information on Navigator, click here, to watch a video and download the Deltek Vision FAQ document.

Bret ended the session by sharing some of the release themes for 2013 –“it’s going to be quite a year for Vision! You’ll see new features in transactional document management, Vision Performance Management, Proposal generation, core billing, time and expense, approvals and delegations and security. And that’s all happening while we continue to move forward on mobility and Navigator!”
