DRAWING AS AN ARCHITECTURAL ALLEGORY CASA KWANTES BY MVRDV REPRESENTED IN BERNARD TSCHUMI’S STYLE AS FOLLOWED IN PARC DE LA VILLETE, PARIS DRAWINGS Bernard tschumis philosophy of deconstructivism is visible in his red black exploded perspectives. Casa kwantes is a block looking house with a dramatic introverted curve forming the central courtyard. Tschumis deconstructivism as representation is explored in casa kwantes by surface manipulation, fragmentation and dislocating architectural components of the space. These are explored in the representation. 49

DECODING THE BUILT The Krushi Bhavan, in Odisha by Studio Lotus is an ecologically consicious building designed as a government office to empower the local farmers. With the use of passive techniques and recyclying of water it manages to save on cooling costs, electricity and water. The design problem arises from the context of the state with the large Chilka Lake being situtated nearby and a River passing by the city but yet the ‘krushi’s’ face constant water shortage problems and draught. The structure arises from water isssues, encompassing them and solving them and educating the farmers about the issues and how to combat them while also practicing it. Making a much more sustainable building which understand and answers the problems of the function to be served 51

MENTAL LOCKDOWN COVID | LOCKDOWN | GRAPHIC DESIGN Style- Dadaism This artwork talks about the Mental Health of individuals being affected heavily in the Situation of lockdown. The piece poses a lady reading the news, the terrorizing scare of cases rate and the number of deaths portrayed and updated frequently in media coverage, thus leading to an anxious and terrified state of mind. A mind that could burst at anytime. The city of Mumbai below offers a completely different view: empty & lifeless during the lockdown as the city is showered by the wave of COVID-19. In this lockdown, without stepping out for months, shut in our house due to a pandemic, the mental health really deteriorates, leading to mental breakdowns, anxiety and depression. Key characteristics from Dadaism: The strong style of collage and satire comes from Dadaism posters. The ironic rain of Corona, the tear apart collage of the eyes, black and white or print based collages are all heavily based on dadaism. By itself these elements may be nonsensical or have a completely different meaning, but when they come together in a collage based language, they give a greater satirical effect. The imagery in Dadaism is often strong and bold. 53
