A NEW DAY
THE NEW HONDA CIVIC
Sun rises and give us a new day to prove our selves These raise show us our bright future It gives us confidence to do everything right It shines to make us bright It is a mixture of all lights it is a mixture of all colours Do you know why it give us a new day because if we fail when it sets it again rises and give us a new day to prove ourselves.
T
“THE UNSEEN HEROES”
H
eroes makes us proud. But there are some who are recognized and become famous, and there are those which remain unseen. It is these who are ‘real’ heroes in my opinion. They may remain unnoticed but are those who have done a lot for the country and made our country proud. We can recall the struggle of people who have struggled in their life, silently but have after a long struggle managed to make us and themselves proud. Those unseen heroes who make me proud are : Black tiger of RAW, Mary Kom, Milkha Singh and Manjhi( the mountain man) to name a few. Some of them were noticed at some stage of their lives, thanks to our film Directors who took the trouble of filming their lives to make their unnoticed struggle ‘noticed’. We have seen these heroes in movies only, thanks to our Indian directors who didn’t let them go unnoticed. Similarly, there are a lot of unseen heroes, who are concerned about people and society and the country’s welfare and development and want to work on ‘changing the mindsets’ of society as a whole. There are people who contribute towards revolutionizing the ideas of the common man and take a step towards making India a greater country. There is one experience which I would like to share which explains who a ‘true hero’ is in my eyes. A teenage age girl boarded a crowded metro train at Malviya Nagar and after a while , went up to two young to vacate their seats for the senior citizens who were finding it difficult to stand in the train. Instead another boy and a college going girl got up and vacated their seats. This girl from Malviya Nagar turned around and thanked them. For me she was the ‘hero’ of the situation and it taught me that each one of us must be ‘heroes’ of our times, even in our smallest way. Let our deeds be ‘unseen’ but let us try to bring about a change. —SHAHID SHEIKH, 2nd year, BAJMC
IS AMOUNT OF FABRIC THE DECIDING FACTOR?
L
ife is all about learning and teaching. We all learn from simple experiences which leave a lasting impressions. Here’s what I experienced a few days ago while travelling in the metro a few days ago. Picture this scene where there are two groups of teenage girls. The first group of two girls is sitting in the train, dressed in traditional attire of salwar kameez. They glance at the girl who gets on to the train at the next station all because she is wearing shorts and a long shirt to go with it, ear phones in her ears listening to music. She is oblivious to the remarks which the girls in the first group are passing at her: thanks to her ear phones. A senior citizen is standing next to them trying very hard to keep his balance in the moving train. After three stops a lot of people get off just where the girl with the ear phone is standing. Instead of taking the vacant seat, she moves ahead and requests the senior citizen and helps him to sit in the vacant seat. He says a big thank you to her and is truly grateful for her gesture. The two girls in tradi-
he New Honda Civic hatchback will be an all turbo car which will suprepass all the existing Honda hatchbacks. This luxury car will be saught after all those people who believe in driving comfortably .The biggest USP of the car as Himanshu says is “The spacious and the roomy nature of the car will attract all those who like the hatchback to seat more than two people. The new Honda Civic is scheduled to be launched in India in the first quarter of 2017.
tional attire are visibly shocked. They thought ‘modern’ girls with ‘modern attire’ are insensitive to the needs of seniors. I realsied that day – it isn’t what you wear to adorn you but it is what you ‘wear’ within yourself – your values are your learning. So don’t judge a book by its cover – judge a person by his/her deeds. Don’t pay attention to the amount of fabric a human being wears. Outward experiences are deceptive.
Yet another experience moved me... It was a hot summer afternoon – I feel asleep while traveling in a public transport bus – tired after a long day at the University and the thrill of going back home for the summer vacations. It was really noisy, so many people were talking and gossiping but that hardly mattered – I was fast asleep - but suddenly I woke up as the noise turned to silence. Suddenly I felt everyone was around but enjoying something in the silence. I opened my eyes to look out of the window – a surprise awaited me – standing in the
scorching heat, I saw from my window, a huge water tank and a lot of people were standing there with glasses of water in their hands and giving it to every vehicle which stopped. As I looked in wonder someone tapped on my shoulder and I turned around, there was this small boy(around 12 to 15 years old) standing in front of me and asking me if I wanted water to drink and I saw there were many people doing the same, asking passengers if anybody wanted water. I took the glass of water, quenched my thirst and thanked God for creating something like water. But at the same time what made me wonder why these people were making this special effort on a hot sunny afternoon. I asked the boy and he replied, “A small gesture, Welcome to Punjab. This is our way of welcoming everyone to our land of happiness . you shall find more like us as you travel further into our land of Punjab.” Makes me proud to be a Punjabi! MAA ULA THE ‘HEROIC IDEA’
Y
et another ‘Hero’ whom I would like to say a big ‘thank you’, is K. Balaji who started this project in 2015. Tamil words, ‘maatru thirunaaligal’ which translates to ‘differently-abled,’ and ‘ula‘ meaning ‘journey’ sums up to a taxi service for differently-abled citizens. This taxi service is owned and run by the differently-abled citizens. In my opinion this is a ‘hero’ with a ‘heroic idea’ In the same way the ‘Swachch Bharat’ mission announced by our Prime Minister can only be successful if each one of us makes some effort in our daily lives. Have respect for the “kudda wallas” and “safai karm charies”(street sweepers) who work in shifts and the night shift only to ensure that in the morning the streets look clean. But as individuals if we stop littering the roads and using the bins it will make a big difference. Be a ‘hero’ and criticize those who litter in front of you. Make them understand. Try to bring about a change. —SHAHID SHEIKH, 2nd year, BAJMC

SPRING FASHION Spring time is here. The sun shine, the birds chirping, colorful flowers everywhere: everything looks beautiful. But it’s very difficult to decide that what to wear in spring season because sometimes it’s really hot and the other times there is a gentle wind blowing which makes you feel slightly cold. But not to worry girls here are some awesome fashion tips that could help you go easy this spring season. Divya Malhotra
Classy Look Try and be a bit classier this spring season because it is never off trend. You can carry a simple decent shirt with folded sleeves that can help you in both hot and cold weather with a pair of pants or denims or palazzos. Avoid wearing cut sleeves or sleeve less top because if you feel cold they can make you fall sick or if you are really fond of wearing them then you carry a jacket or a shrug over it so that you can remove it whenever you feel hot and wear it when the weather takes a slight turn . A simple and classy kurti would also go well with some solid color leggings or palazzos or even skirts. Skirts are a more in fashion this season and they can go with anything; a shirt, a t-shirt, a crop top, or even kurti. This spring desi accessories are more on the roll , you can go with some evergreen jhunkis, a pair of danglers, chandelier earrings, ethnic balis, or some fancy ear cuffs. If you wanna go with some simple earring you can go with studs or drop earrings. To keep it cool you can carry some denim shoes with them, maybe colorful ballerina flats, kitten heels, pumps, wedges or gladiator sandals.
Indian Look The ones who want to carry Indian looks can just carry a plain solid color kurti or can even go for printed ones with colorful leggings . You can even wear a salwar suit and pair them with bellies or kitten heals or gladiator sandals. You can wear any type of earrings with but try to wear the ethnic ones or even camel tassels. So be cool! Try something new and be happy.
Funky Look If you are a type of girl who likes to try new looks and go funky you can go with nice funky t-shirts or tops and pair them with denim or palazzos or flairy skirt. You can try prints which are ‘loud’ like floral prints or even block prints. You can carry them with funky shoes, balies or boots. Camel tassel earrings will go well with it or you can even try jhumkies with them. Flairy skirts with floral prints can always be paired with solid colored sandoes, crop tops or kurtis.

ITS THE KARUN NAIR SHOW
I
am a fan of the young crickerter, Karun Nair. Hoping he will continue his batting spree for a long long time writes Anubhav from 1st year BAJMC The Jodhpur born Karun Nair is a right handed batsmen and a occasional off brake bowler. He represents Karnatka in domestic circuit. He played for Karnataka at the junior level. Earlier in his domestic circuit he made his first class debut in 2013-2014 season in which Karnatka won the Ranji trophy. Nair scored three consecutive centuries in the final round when his side was in a kind of trouble. He also scored consecutive centuries in the first two league games. In 2014-2015. Nair batting score of 709 runs in 10 matches with an average of shade under 40.0 left his fans ask for more. His famous knock of 328 against Tamil Nadu in the Ranji final made Karnatka become the winners again. Kapil Dev commented on the young talent and said - “This young lad can play all kinds of shots and has a bright future”. The 303runs knock by Nair sealed the fate for the English batsman. India defeated them by a margin of an innings and 36 runs and sealed the series under Virat Kohli’s captaincy by 4-0. Karun Nair was awarded the man of the match award for his flawless knock of 303 and made man fans who swear by his batting techniques . I feel, “ His batting style and techniques have a different class altogether and he is the man to watch out for. “ . —Anubhav Bhatia, 1st year, BAJMC

MATURITY
M
LIFE IS A GARDEN L
ife! A wonderful package made by god, full of surprises, happiness and hardships. It is exactly like a garden which has aromatic flowers that have thorns too. But the thorns can never compete with the beauty of the flower and its fragrance. Thorns are always overlooked. But when it comes to our life we focus more towards the thorns i.e the struggles of life and forget to see its beauty. Life is not just about struggling; making careers, earning bread, being famous etc. there is much more to it. Life is finding positivity from negativity, finding hope when there is no hope, finding motivation to rise again and fight after getting defeated, wiping tears and then smiling again. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that happiness is the purpose of life. Happiness doesn’t come after us; we are the ones who have to go to find it. We are the ones who have to adjust and accept to be happy otherwise if we expect that others would be the reason of our happiness or if we
take the criticism made by others too deeply then we would be blown away like dust in the air. Our happiness totally depends on us. Adjustment and acceptance doesn’t mean to accept and ignore when someone is being unfair to us, the point is adjustment with our own selves and accepting ourselves as we are. When these two factors get applied in our lives than automatically we start overlooking the thorns of life and start feeling and appreciating the beauty of life. It becomes lot more easy to live. Of course, many times situations are too hard to accept and deal with as we are humans made of flesh and blood, we are prone to negativity. But as it is said “everyone wants happiness, no one wants pain but you can’t have a rainbow without a little rain” so only after going through bad times we can appreciate the good times. The hard times we go through are very necessary to taste the real happiness and to understand what is happiness all about! Happiness, we think, lies in big things but actually happiness is always found in small things, for example
happiness is seeing the love behind our parents’ scolding and worries, happiness is having true and reliable friends, happiness is being at peace with ourselves in this big crazy world e... We get so much overpowered by the hardships in our lives that we forget to see the blessings given to us by God. When we come in contact with the troubles others face, we understand the fact that everyone has one or the other problem in his or her life and sometimes we may also realise that our problems are much minor than the problems of others and we are quite lucky. Actually God has a reason to give us problems — he wants to see how strong we are and how much faith we have in ourselves and in him. Giving problems is god’s way of teaching us great lessons of life i.e having patience, being strong willed and determined. It is said that god always gives problem according to the tolerance level of a person, he doesn’t go beyond that. So what we have to do is just have faith in ourselves and never stop hoping for good. —ANNIE MONDAL, BA English (H) 4th semester

orporate Resource Centre (CRC) engages regularly with the students of all streams of all seniority from every faculty once a semester. The engagement sessions are well coordinated with the help of respective faculty members and the HoDs. In recent months, following the interaction with the leading Industry partners in their corporate events and in the industry-academia conclaves, CRC has been able to gather significant information related to the impact of ‘disruptive technologies’ and ‘neo-nationalistic’ policies on the job markets all over the world and particularly in India. It has also compelled the recruiting companies to look at their hiring strategies. It is observed that there has
been a paradigm shift in the hiring strategy from ‘volume hiring’ to ‘value hiring’, from ‘employability’ to ‘deployability’, ‘general ability’ to ‘context-based demonstrable capability’ and so on. Even some parameters such as Aptitude, Attitude and Communication Skills are subjected to new levels of testing in search of higher levels of excellence. In its’ strive to disseminate all these job market related developments to the students across the campus, a time bound calendar has been prepared. GUEST LECTURE BY DEV J HALDAR, DIRECTOR, ACCOUNTS AND MEDIA RELATIONS, LE PEAR SOCIETE, DUBAI
B
hangarh fort is a historical memorial built by Raja Madho Singh in 1631. The fort is located in primordial town of Bhagharh which lies 40 Km from Jaipur. Here is my personal experience The trip started from Alwar and was frankly a horrible one, the roads that I travelled through were in the worst possible condition until I reached the dry Aravali mountains. The scenic beauty here was admirable and the three lakes on way to Bhangarh Fort were serene and clean. When I finally stepped into the fort premises I felt a bit uneasy. Badal Sharma was my guide for the trip pointed out the fountain which was the bathing area of the beautiful queen. He also explained to us why the fort was called ‘haunted’. What he explained was Ratnavati was the princess of Bhangarh and was famed for her elegant beauty. By the time she turned 18 various matrimonial offers from different kingdoms came in for her. Tempted by the beauty of princess Singhia a black magician decided to lure the princess, he cursed the oil which was made available for the princess. However princess recognized the trick and poured the oil on the ground. The oil turned into a rock and crushed the magician. In his dying words he cursed the town to death. The curse resulted in a war between Bhangarh and Ajabgarh where the princess was assassinated. Just wanted to share this tale which was told to me by my guide. —BAHNISIKHA PAUL 2nd semester BAJMC

PRESSURE OF STUDIES ON STUDENTS
W
hile Education is the backbone of growth and development of any human being, it is most important for it to be stress free. Competition between students are getting tougher. So ,it is necessary to take some steps to reduce pressure for students. When children begin to go to school, parents expect good results from their children. After students are back from schools or classes they are forced to join extra classes. The format of present day education is such, that students don’t study with the view and intention to gain long term knowledge, but just to somehow pass the examination. In order to reduce pressure parents must understand what their children actually want to do in their life. Parents need to give them a bit more freedom i.e, spend their time the way they want. If they want to spend day in painting, dancing then they must be encouraged. All I want say is let your children decide want they want to do. —KOMAL SHARMA (BAJMC)

The media in a democracy is a messenger to carry the voices and messages of the people. Media professionals should perpetuate the truth with unbiased reporting; there should be narratives and counter narratives along with open disclosures.” Further addressing the students, Ms Lekhi said that they
should devote themselves towards nation building. In an impassioned speech, Sh. Tarek Fatah, greatly energized students stating, “There is no profession in the world which cannot be critiqued by another profession. However, Indian Journalism is far ahead as compared to many countries in the world.” Sh. Shams Tahir Khan spoke about the Crime beat in the elec-

Students Buzz LET ME BREATHE
THOUGHTS THAT MATTER
You hold the acid that charred my dreams. Your heart bore no love. It had the venom stored. There was never any love in your eyes. They burn me with caustic glance. I am sad that your corrosive name will always be part of my identity that I carry with this face.
DR M M KATHURIA, TRUSTEE, MANAV RACHNA
Time will not come to my rescue. Every surgery will remind me of you. You will hear and you will be told that the face you burned is the face I love now. You will hear about me in the darkness of confinement. The time will be burdened for you. Then you will know that I am alive, free and thriving and living my dreams. (-Laxmi, A victim of Acid Attack)
A
cid Attack is one of those heinous crimes of our society which has tarnished the glory, the integrity and respect of our nation behind the darkest screens which echoes with the helpless cries of many lives. This crime which is non-bailable, punishable and cognizable offence has created that horrible image of India which is known for rapes, racial discrimination, child labor, corruption, sexual exploitation and harassment of women, female foeticide and more such numerous acts which are rotting the society. Acid attack is a deliberate act done in order to disfigure, destroy and maim the body parts of a person. The victim of this act could be a woman, man or a child, but mostly it is very young women. It is that venomous act which ruins one's existence physically as well as mentally. The crime is prevalent on a large scale in India as well as other nations of the world; Bangladesh being one of the most attacked country. The attack is attempted generally by men on women when their love proposal is rejected by the young girl. Their aim is to take revenge by destroying the girl’s life. It is done regardless of race, religion or caste. Tuba Tabassum, was victimized by acid attack when she was barely 17. She is presently preparing for a national level medical entrance test. She is a young woman fighting her way in the world. 26th September ,2012 was the darkest day of her life when she was attacked by four boys in her village in Patna, Bihar. She was going towards her coaching center when a boy with his friends threw acid over her whole body - one of them was the rejected suitor. Reliving that moment Tuba says "My face...I lost one eye right then, my arms...my clothes had burnt and started to fall off...my skin started melting...my plait fell off". Her treatment was carried out in Sadar Hospital in Siwan and then shifted to Safdarjang Hospital in New Delhi. Many surgeries were done but no one could bring the original face and body back. She cannot part her lips fully. Skin was taken from her thighs and grafted on her
shoulders and back. The skin around her nose melted which covered her nostrils, for which small pipes were inserted to help her breathe. She is now living in New Delhi and studying for Medical Entrance Examination as she wants to specialize in Ophthalmology. The accused are in jail out of which two claim to be juvenile, hence their punishment will be much less than what they deserve. She laments "I would see them everywhere and replay the incident in my head". She rightly says "If there is quick and efficient punishment, commensurate with crime, only then people will think twice before ruining someone's life this way.” Despite sale of acid being banned by the Supreme Court of India, it continues to be sold in various shops across the national capital, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has claimed. The women’s body had conducted an investigation during which the commission staffers went to 30 shops in 2 days and were able to procure acid from 23 shops. According to Subhas Chakarborty, executive director of the Acid Survivors Foundation of India “Every year, the lives of hundreds of young Indian women are destroyed by jeolous lovers or bigoted parents, their faces melted into gruesome masks". Maimed and blinded women find difficulty in getting jobs. They have to pass through 15-20 surgeries depending on the wound. The government is supporting the victims with all sorts of free aid treatment in all hospitals, but the change which is required is in the mentality of society. United hands of government and society are the ultimate cure. Tuba Tabassum and numerous other young girls like her, after surviving an acid attack, did not lose their lust for life which is all-consuming. Their stories and their vigor set an example. "The enlighment of a new nation is yet to be found, a change is what we dream, and the action is yet to be taken" —Megha Madan BA(H) English, 4th Semester

In memory of Dr. O.P. Bhalla, My Dearest Friend and Founder of Manav Rachna M M Kathuria
T
he fear in man about the hereafter has risen from his failure to appreciate the logical continuity and perfect sequence that is ever formed in life. To consider that death is the end of existence which started with the accident of birth is a philosophy too rudimentary to be considered complete and exhaustive. In fact it is only with a stretch of imagination that we can consider such a theory as philosophy. Daring intellects bravely pushing a head in the quest to understand and comprehend the laws of life and the meaning and the purpose of the universe cannot but accept that the existence of an individual in its present embodiment is but a single pearl in the necklace of infinite beauty adoring the bossom of truth. The present is the product of the past and thought by thought action by action, knowledge by knowledge; we are creating for our self in the present, the blue print of our future. Therefore, the belief in the previous lives as well as the future births for all embodied souls is right and is called the theory of re-incarnation The hereafter is ordered by the actions performed and the motives entertained here. Actions in the life can be mainly classified as good and evil and the pursuers of evil can only slip down the path of evolution. Those who are doing good work alone can start their climb on to the higher points on the tower of their spiritual progress. Even here there is a distingution between ( a ) action performed with desires and (b) those that are performed in a spirit of dedicated love & in a sense of divine worship . Those who are pursuing selfless worship of the lord without the desire for heavenly enjoyments gain more and more easy integration and as a result of it they become dynamic minds capable of the highest meditation. This theory gives a lot of insight into the present day fallacy which gives such an exaggerated importance to ones unhealthy environment and makes every one polish against one’s surroundings. No doubt in some ways than is a creature of his environments; but the same statement when viewed through the glasses of philosophy gives also insight into the fact that the individual in their own
freedom had themselves ordered in the past their own present environments. By merely changing his environments, the individual concerned cannot progress, Examples like Shankra, Christ, Budha, Gurunanak dev ji and other great master can be considered as supporting this philosophical theory. Such men of brilliant genius who from then very early youth exhibit superhuman knowledge and godly wisdom are no doubt rare. A man who had in the past lived in life of self control, study and practice gather into himself those cultural traits and he in his life, in spite of himself and in spite of all his adverse circumstances, environments and conditions of life cannot but instinctively come to exhibit in his attitudes to life and in his behavior towards the things and beings in the world, a tranquility and a balance, which are a surprise even to himself. This is not mere theory. The truth of the statements above is simply evident everywhere in any society, in all strata of its life, in all its professions and in all departments of its activities. Even a candid chieftain can, overnight turn himself to be a determined seeker and ere long become a great poet of the land, a valmiki did in the past. Hundreds of such examples could be noted from our recent history and even amidst us today .In all those cases the only satisfactory explanation will be that the individual mind and intellect was expressing through its given physical structure its own characteristic tendencies which it had by itself in the past incarnations through its own willful actions and deliberate motions. In the universe everything like moon, sun, planets, weather day & night black hole are moving on certain principles. Human & other living existence can’t be without principle. How is that one is born rich and the other poor, one is born healthy and other weak, one survives for long and the other vanishes early. This also proves the theory of reincarnation and that life is a continuous process. He must also therefore act in a disciplined way and work for the divine duties, love and respect other beings as all are the products of the same source and all have to go to the same source.
