DRAGONS IN THE COMMUNITY Recognizing that true ownership to any sports team lies with the citizens in the community, the Dragons are proud to have initiated many programs that directly promote, highlight, and give back to those in our community.

Take a look through the following pages to see what we have already accomplished.

MVP PROGRAM The Dragons MVP Program uses the marketing power of the Dragons as an educational tool for 35,000 fourth and fifth grade students in more than 1,100 Miami Valley classrooms. The program allows teachers to motivate and reward students in their classroom at no cost to them. Fourth and fifth grade teachers in a five-county area (Clark, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, and Warren) receive an award kit to recognize five students in their classroom for any reason they see fit. Each student honored as a Dayton Dragons MVP by their teacher receives rewards including; tickets to a game for themselves and their family, a Dragons MVP hat and certificate, and a special field day at the ballpark with the entire Dragons team and other MVP award winners.

Throughout the summer, Dragons MVP schools are selected to receive visits from Dragons players and mascots. Ten MVPs across the Miami Valley are selected to appear in local newspaper ads and in MVP radio spots. Plus, at each of the 16 MVP game nights, we select an MVP to throw out a first pitch, another to have an on-air radio interview, and yet another to participate in an entertainment skit during the game.

GIVING BACK SUITE DONATIONS Making a difference in a child’s life is a great thing. The Dragons provide a terrific life experience for a select group of children from organizations such as:

Every season, the Dragons have donated several nights in a luxury suite, complete with food, beverage, souvenirs, and a visit from one of our mascots.

COMMUNITY GROUP PARTNERSHIPS The Dragons have also partnered with the following groups to increase their exposure within our community and provide resources to their constituents:

GOING GREEN RECYCLING PROGRAM

VOLUNTEER CONCESSION FUNDING Every season, the Dragons have managed/run a non-profit concession stand program, where volunteers from local groups work our concession stands during Dragons games.

Each season more than $300,000 is earned by these non-profit groups with a cumulative total of over $5 million to these organizations in the Dayton community.

MASCOTS & PLAYERS IN THE COMMUNITY Over 2,000 visits have been made by players, front office executives, and mascots to festivals, schools, and hospitals during the Dragons 18 years in Dayton.

OVER

2,000 VISITS!

DONATIONS The Dragons make both monetary and in-kind donations to hundreds of groups each year. Since 2000, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been donated to a wide range of groups throughout the community.

50/50 PROGRAM The Dragons 50/50 program is now in its third year. It has raised more than $160,000 for charity at Dragons games. Currently, the Dragons Foundation is partnering with another great charity, the American Cancer Society, to share the charitable dollars raised and help both organizations. Fans can purchase tickets from sellers or a kiosk at the main gates during every Dragons home game throughout the season.

WE DO A LOT IN OUR COMMUNITY,

BUT WE WANT TO DO EVEN MORE!

Sports teams have a greater power to influence people and impact their lives differently than other types of businesses.

From the very start, the Dragons made it a point to be more involved in our community than any sports team across the country. We knew that to succeed and to help this region grow like it has, we would have to play an active role in the lives of our fans, not just when they attend one of our games. The Dayton Dragons Foundation is central to our organization’s effort to be more involved in the community than any other sports team across the country. The Foundation provides necessary funding and resources to support the countless donations, charitable giving requests, in-kind donations, unique game experiences, and community-wide programs (such as the Dragons MVP program) which the Dragons support every year. We know our work will never be complete when it comes to building ourselves into the fabric of the Dayton region. Every year, we strive to do more and make a larger impact through our position as Dayton’s hometown team, but we need your assistance to help build the Dayton Dragons Foundation and continue to grow our involvement in the community. By joining us as a “Dragons Community Partner” you’ll be assuring that no family and no child will miss out on the joys of a summer night spent at the ballpark or getting to meet their favorite player (or mascot!) and spark a lifelong love of the game. Please consider joining us with a financial contribution to help us make an even bigger impact in the Dayton region.
