COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM

Over 15 seasons, the Dragons have been recognized for numerous accolades and awards. In 2012, Street and Smith’s Sports Business Journal selected the Dayton Dragons as a Finalist for “Team of the Year,” making Dayton the first ever MiLB team selected for this award. Other finalists for this award included the Boston Bruins (NHL), Texas Rangers (MLB), Sporting Kansas City (MLS), and Steward Haas Racing (NASCAR).

ALL-TIME PROFESSIONAL SPORTS RECORD FOR CONSECUTIVE SOLDOUT GAMES.

ALL-TIME MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL ATTENDANCE RECORD.

For 15 consecutive seasons (beginning April 2000), the Dragons have sold out more than 1,000 straight games at Fifth Third Field.

We set an all-time single season attendance record for Single-A baseball in 2000; set it again in 2003; again in 2004; and once again in 2010. Dayton has been the top Single-A organization each year in Minor League Baseball.

BASEBALL AMERICA NAMED FIFTH THIRD FIELD THE 7TH BEST MILB BALLPARK!

In 2014, the Dragons ranked Sixth in all of MiLB attendance.

DRAGONS ON THE FIELD

THE DRAGONS EXPERIENCE

ENTERTAINMENT AT ITS FINEST

Our goal has always been to make the Dayton Dragons experience more than just a baseball game ... and for 15 years, that has held true. From our Green Team, to emcees, to mascots, superheroes, dance troupes, and our 7-story high video board, you never know what will happen at a Dragons game. Sometimes it’s more about smiles, laughs, and memories than wins and losses.

DRAGONS IN THE COMMUNITY Recognizing that true ownership to any sports team lies with the citizens in the community, the Dragons are proud to have initiated many programs that directly promote, highlight, and give back to those in our community. Take a look through the following pages to see what we have already accomplished.

DRAGONS IN THE COMMUNITY MVP PROGRAM The Dragons MVP Program uses the marketing power of the Dragons as an educational tool for more than 34,000 fourth and fifth grade students in more than 1,100 classrooms. The program helps the teachers motivate and reward students in the classroom. Fourth and fifth grade teachers in a five county area (Clark, Greene, Miami, Montgomery and Warren) receive an award kit to recognize five students in their classroom. In addition to a fun-filled classroom visit by our mascot, Heater, each of the students selected as a Dayton Dragons MVP receive lots of prizes including tickets to a game, merchandise and a special day at the ballpark with other MVP winners.

Throughout the summer, Dragons MVP schools are selected at random to receive visits from Dragons players and mascots.

DISTRICTS

Ten MVPs across the Miami Valley are selected to appear in local newspaper ads and in MVP radio spots. Plus, MVPs are featured in public service announcements on Dayton’s CW!

183 SCHOOLS

Dragons MVPs are invited to a private Field Day at Fifth Third Field to interact with the entire Dragons team, coaching staff, Heater, Gem and Green Team members.

DRAGONS IN THE COMMUNITY

HOME RUN FOR LIFE The Dayton Dragons and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield have partnered over the past seven seasons to bring fans the very successful Home Run for Life promotion. The program recognizes a number of children who, with the help of their families, physicians and health care professionals, overcame or were successfully battling significant medical events in their life. Honorees have faced cancer, premature birth defects, Cystic Fibrosis, sickle cell anemia and other serious ailments. Honorees were recognized during an inning break at designated Dragons games. During each Home Run for Life night, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield will host the honoree along with his or her support family, friends, doctors and Anthem representatives. This includes complimentary tickets, food, VIP parking, souvenirs, and a behind-the-scenes stadium tour. During an inning break of the game, the honoree and their support team are taken down to the field where the honoree then takes a symbolic lap around the bases as their story is told over the PA system for the 8,000+ fans to hear. HOMETOWN HEROES The Hometown Heroes program is a season-long tribute to those who serve out of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the Springfield Air National Guard Base. At every Dragons home game, a different family that has a family member deployed overseas is hosted at a Dragons game. The “Hometown Heroes of the Game enjoy a game in true VIP fashion with VIP parking, game tickets, a behindthe-scenes tour, souvenirs and Baseball Bucks, rewarding these families with an enjoyable evening as they and their loved ones sacrifice for our country, our liberties, and our freedoms. Periodically, a selected Hometown Hero family is brought down onto the field during an inning break and is surprised with a video greeting of their deployed family member on the video board in front of the Dragons crowd. On two other nights, the Dragons dedicate the entire game to our local military, called Celebration nights. Dragons fans have a chance to see base officials welcome home recently returned Airmen, swear in new recruits on the field, and partner with many different groups on the base to recognize all the hard-working heroes in our community.

GIVING BACK

Volunteer Concession Funding

Rental Suite Donations

Community Group Partnerships

Every season, the Dragons have implemented a non-profit concession stand program, where volunteers from local groups work our concession stands during Dragons games. The volunteers receive either a flat rate or percentage of concession stand sales, whichever is higher. Each season more than $300,000 is earned by these non-profit groups with a cumulative total of $4.5 million to these organizations in the Dayton community.

Making a difference in a child’s life is a great thing. The Dragons provide a terrific life experience for a select group of children from organizations such as the Dayton Boys & Girls Club, Montgomery County Services Board, Daybreak Runaway Shelter, Dakota Street Recreation Center, March of Dimes, Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center, Action Youth Outreach and the Ronald McDonald House.

The Dragons have also partnered with the following groups to increase their exposure within our community and provide resources to their constituents: Cincinnati Reds Rookie Success League, Bat for the Cure, ALS, the Ronald McDonald House, Going Green Recycling Program, Montgomery County Litter Free Day campaign, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Dayton, and Special Olympics.

Every season the Dragons have donated several nights in a luxury suite, complete with food, beverage, hats, and a visit from one of our mascots.

THE DRAGONS COMMUNITY PARTNER PROGRAM

Sports teams have a greater power to influence people and impact their lives differently than other types of businesses. We have seen the benefits of this power during our 15 years here in the Dayton region. We would like to harness this power to positively affect even more people in 2015. We have created another community based initiative called the “Dragons Community Partner program. We would like your assistance in helping us build this program. This will help us affect many of the groups listed on the previous pages and even more groups in the future.
