INTRODUCTION M&Co is one of the largest, privatelyowned international multi-channel fashion retailers in the UK and has been selling quality clothing for more than 50 years. Originally a small family business of only six shops owned by the McGeoch family, M&Co has over 260 stores in the UK, a growing international website and a turnover of nearly £200 million per year and still owned by the McGeoch’s today. We process over 200,000 transactions per week and pack more than 450,000 items into M&Co carrier bags every week! We are mostly positioned in market towns, from the Shetland Isles in the most northerly part of Scotland to

Penzance on the edge of the south west coast of England. In 2012 our first international stores opened in the UAE and we now have over 25 stores in 10 countries. International is an important market for M&Co and other regions such as Russia and Eastern Europe show great potential for the future. Specialising in Womenswear, menswear, kids and pre-teen fashion, as well as lingerie and accessories, we also have a home living department. COMPANY HISTORY

We are committed to running M&Co as a family business, and have been so ever since Neil McGeoch opened his first Mackays store in Clydebank in 1953, and our expansion shows that it works. Our current chain has grown organically from a small family business of just 6 stores and now amounts to

over 260 stores in the UK, over 20 international and a successful shopping site online. Between 2005 and 2007, the store portfolio was expanded and upgraded, and Mackays successfully re-branded to the more contemporary M&Co fascia.

We currently employ around 3,500 staff, with 3,200 of those based in-store and the remainder in our Glasgow Operations Support Centre, or in our London Buying Office. Almost a quarter of our staff have been with us for more than 10 years, with some outstanding individuals having worked in the company for more than 30 years. M&Co is known for its family culture. With attractive, modern surroundings, we’ve taken the style & personality of the M&Co brand and spread it right across the company. Re-branded,

We supply over 6000 products to our customers each year. We offer quality and value for money and the type of fantastic customer service that is lacking in other stores.

M&Co CUSTOMERS Our Womenswear collections are aimed at the 40 to 60 year old market with a core customer of 45+ who lies within the A - C2 demographic profile. We have broad appeal, attracting women buying for themselves as well as the family and the home and grandparents buying for their grandchildren. Our customers are brand loyal, purchasing on average 6 times a year each. We constantly communicate with our customers to identify their needs and desires and most importantly to seek feedback on our clothing ranges and our levels of service.

M&Co LOYALTY The Loyalty programme has gone from strength to strength since launch in 2011. We now have over 2.4 million customers on our database and on average 65% of sales have a Loyalty card associated with them. Our Loyalty customers continue to remain engaged with M&Co, 90% of spend currently comes from existing customers. We also know that they spend more than a non-loyalty customer, on average they spend ÂŁ2.60 more per transaction. We send over 5 million direct mail units to the database every year, including exclusive Loyalty Event invites six times a year, quarterly Loyalty statements and seasonal catalogues.

M&Co PRICE POSITION We are positioned on price in line or below M&S and Next on comparable product. We also have a premium Womenswear offer, M&Co Boutique, which is a stylish, up-market collection. Boutique is exclusively designed with luxury fabrics for the more discerning customer who wants to spend a little more for that special occasion. Boutique commands price points around 30% above the core collection and is presented to the customer as a shop within shop concept with its own unique area within the store.

Womenswear… Flattering, versatile and stylish Womenswear, aimed at 40 - 60 year olds. Our designers interpret the seasons’ trends into wearable collections covering everything from casual everyday essentials to gorgeous occasionwear.

Boutique… A premium collection for M&Co designed to be a fully co-ordinated range, offering something special for the existing M&Co customer. With the focus on quality and design, we have used superior fabrics and detailing such as silk, French crepes and metallic finishes along with beaded or sewn embellishments and trims to help us offer a unique product. M&Co Boutique is currently available in over 80 stores throughout the UK.

Petite… Designed especially to fit the proportions of women 5’3” and under, our Petite range maintains our signature handwriting, encompassing designs for day and evening which are unique to the Petite range, as well as some of the key items from our main women’s collections.

Plus… Mirroring our Womenswear collections, Plus, the M&Co range for curvy silhouettes, offers a comprehensive selection of fashion items in sizes18–28. Each item is designed with a more generous cut to flatter the proportions of a fuller figure. Our designers adapt the season’s key looks into mix and match separates that the customer can co-ordinate with other pieces from the collection.

Lingerie… Ranging from everyday bras and briefs to nightwear and beautiful sets, all our exclusive selection of bras and co-ordinates are designed and cut to fit precisely and comfortably. Whether its coordinating sets in delicate lace or feminine embroidery, to everyday wear in microfibre and soft cotton, our range of lingerie will ensure you look great and feel great inside and out.

Accessories... From costume jewellery, to high grade hosiery, our accessories department goes from strength to strength with its collection of co-ordinating bags, belts, scarves and shoes designed to complement the clothing collection.

Kids: Girls & Boys 0 -13 yrs... We are renowned for our exclusive quality ranges for kids which offer everything from classic styling to fashion items, from newborn up to the age of 13. Natural fibres and textiles with delicate detailing ensure babies and kids alike are dressed in only the best.

Kylie: Girls 9-13+... Catering for style conscious girls, you can rely on the Kylie range for fresh, funky fashion and accessories. With a definite focus on the season’s key trends, Kylie offers all the hot fashion that a modern girl’s wardrobe requires. Our range of accessories and shoes in sizes 1–5 will complement every outfit, from basic staples to key season must-haves, allowing girls to create fun, affordable outfits with ease.

Home... Collections of easy, affordable and stylish products make it easy to give any home an exciting new look. We offer quality and value for money ranges perfect for the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room as well as branded fashion collections from the likes of Zandra Rhodes and Liz Hurley.

M&Co STORES There are now more than 260 M&Co stores throughout the UK, mainly focused in market towns. We also have our three ‘City’ concept stores in more competitive areas such as city centres or out of town shopping centres and concessions in a number of House of Fraser and Co-op stores in England. This amounts to more than 1.3million square foot (over 120,000 square meters) of retail space.

70% of our stores are in England and Wales, and 30% are in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Our stores range from 2,000 to over 10,000 square feet (185 to 950+ square meters).

MULTI-CHANNEL M&Co Launched in 2006, our award-winning online shopping destination, www.mandco.com, has become the ultimate place to shop all M&Co departments. Our fully-responsive website delivers a ‘best in class’ online shopping experience for customers browsing our range on desktop, mobile or tablet devices.

International orders continue to grow and this year we have invested in new technology to give our overseas customers a localised shopping experience that includes displaying prices in the local currency.

In line with our commitment to offering our customer a multi-channel proposition, a range of delivery options are available, including ordering to and from local stores in addition to home or work addresses.

HELPING THE ENVIRONMENT All of our business uses “Green” energy which means that we are committed to utilising energy from renewable sources.

The newest member of the Mackays family, MEG Renewables, was established in 2010, and is a developer of medium-scale renewable energy projects, with a focus on hydro power.

MEG Renewables’ aim is to develop and operate projects which directly generate green energy for the M&Co retail business, whilst providing benefits for local landowners and communities. As well as underpinning M&Co’s environmental credentials, having a portfolio of directly owned electricity generation projects allows the Group to manage energy costs, which in turn enables the delivery of optimum value to customers.

CHARITABLE INTERESTS M&Co is committed to raising money for charity and has done so with a Corporate Charity Partner since 2003, raising a total of over £2 million so far. M&Co staff vote for who their Corporate Charity will be every two years. Our current Corporate Charity Partner is Cancer Research UK. We began our affiliation with them in August 2010 and beat our target of raising £1m by the end of July 2012 one month ahead of schedule. In 2012 our staff voted to support them for a further two years. Supporting

No matter who M&Co’s Corporate Charity Partner is, our staff are fully behind raising money – they are the people who decide who we support. Fundraising is an active part of each store’s remit and events such as fashion shows, sporting races, raffles and tombolas all help to bring in the money raised.
