A crucial factor in making any website run smoothly is the control panel it utilizes. The majority of people currently use the cPanel control panel. Many people have yet to even hear about the lesser known Vdeck. Vdeck is fairly new to the internet world, and many of even the most experienced "webmasters" really do not understand exactly how it really works. People are buzzing about it, but can it really stand up to the better established cPanel? Vdeck is a very useful tool to build and promote your website if you have limited HTML knowledge or experience. It comes with pre installed and configured design templates, content manager controls and advertising programs and services. It is practically a complete system for the business orientated webmaster to use, as it certainly has a little more depth than cPanel. This depth however is why so many users still prefer the user friendly approach and easier interface that cPanel offers to its clients. One of the most popular applications for use with cPanel is the impressive Fantastico, which encapsulates sub applications such as Joomla and TikiWiki. Regular users love the functionality, and this is something they do not get with Vdeck. Regular users of cPanel tend to look at Vdeck as overcomplicated and cumbersome in comparison to the platform they are used to. Which is probably why it is the control panel of choice for large hosting sites like the popular Blue Host to offer its customers as the standard control panel. This may go some way to account for Vdeck's lack of widespread popularity, as so many webmasters turn to large hosting companies like them to service their needs. As easy as it is, there are some downsides to cPanel. Webmasters really only have fairly basic tools to employ in site construction and maintenance. If you are trying to build a complicated e commerce site, cPanel is probably just too simplistic and limited to be of great use to you. This is the area where Vdeck really scores. Its search optimization function is superb, and it has a great submission service which is almost crucial to the smooth running of a successful e commerce website. The choice between cPanel and Vdeck must be made on an individual case by case basis in the end. Both are undoubtedly great control panels. CPanel may almost certainly be the better choice for personal websites and non commerce content pages, as it is so simple to use, and most of these kinds of websites do not need the more complicated features of the Vdeck panel. For the webmaster setting up an e commerce geared website however, Vdeck probably is the better of the two control panels to choose to use, as it is specifically geared towards this kind of

venture. It is harder to learn to use, no argument there from me, but it may well be worth the extra effort and study required to master its use if you want your ecommerce venture to reach its' maximum potential.
