Entertainment Complex PROJECT OVERVIEW Location: Shanghai, China Area: 116,000 Sq ft Project Type: Commercial
CONCEPT DIAGRAM - Intersection
Entertainment complex is a cooperative includes Theater, Restaurant, Retial store, Video arcade, Bowling & Pool hall, KTV, Wine and Cigar lounge, SPA. The project’s aim is to cater to the people around this area, not only for their physical needs, but also to satisfy their mental pursuits. It will be a perfect place for people to relax, to social contact, to re-charge themselves, to absorb new things and to have some fun. Yu Huashan building was built in 1990, which is a commercial and residential complex. The building is composed of a high-rise building and a four-stories podium. I chose the podium as my project building. Using Shanghai’s unique architectural style - Shikumen as inspiration, I use intersection as a design concept. Eastern and Western cultures, traditions and modernity were intersect-ed here, and co-existed. I plan to develop six elements based on the concept to represent the project. Shikumen architectural style is the most representative of the historical development of Shanghai. I will also use six key elements of the Shikumen style coming from structure, dec -oration, materials to be deconstructed and reconfigured to generate design elements.
Six Eelements - Courtyard - “Tiger window”--Sloping roof window - Gable wall - Lintel of door - Traditional material - Traditional color

Botique Hotel PROJECT OVERVIEW
BUBBLE DIAGRAM
Location: 706 Mission Street, San Francisco, California Area: 10,380 Sq ft Project Typy: Spa The Aronson Building was built in 1903 and is listed on the city of San Francisco’s list of historical landmarks. A developer was planning to renovate this historical building into a boutique hotel. The owner of the new hotel has decided to open a luxury spa on the third floor of the hotel. The inspiration of this design comes from the Chinese landscape painting. I will use several key elements of the Chinese landscape painting coming from structure, drawing skills, materials to be deconstructed and reconfigured to generate design elements. There are lounges, treatment rooms, aroma shower, mineral bath, sauna rooms and an outdoor swimming pool in the this porject.
