Tanjore Painting: A Visual Art of India



The history of art and painting of India goes back to the several centuries in the past. The painting of India can be classified into two categories and these are wall paintings and miniature paintings.

Mysore Tanjore painting: Mysore Tanjore paintings were originated in Mysore which is a city of Karnataka and they tell the life and history around 2nd century B.C. to 7th century A.D.


The most distinctive things of these paintings were delicate lines, intricate brush strokes, and graceful delineation of figures of Hindu mythological gods and goddesses. In the design of these painting bright vegetable colours and lustrous gold leafs can be seen and use to bring feeling of devotion.
