In case of painting and art work India has a long history which dates back to several centuries. There are mainly two categories can be found in painting in India and those two are wall paintings and miniature paintings.

Among the various Indian paintings Tanjore painting is one of the oldest one and now in the verge of extinction. These painting are very significant and said to bring positive energy to our home.
In case of the history of Tanjore painting, it is said that the first Tanjore painting is around 40,000 years old. It was made in a place named Thanjavur, a city in Tamil Nadu, India and to design this painting lot of original precious stones and gold foils were used. To maintain its bright colour and long life oil paints also were used.
Tanjore painting design: There are two types of design mainly used in Tanjore paintings and they are Chettinad design and Mysore designs. Chettinad Tanjore painting: The originated place of Chettinad Tanjore painting was Thanjavur, the city in Tamil Nadu where the first painting also was made. To made these paintings artisans balance every line of the painting by keep in mind and they use thick lines, bold colours, appropriate shapes designed with no out of shape question. The colours used in these paintings are also very appropriate. It is found that Chettinad Tanjore paintings were lived around 1600 A.D.
Mysore Tanjore painting: Mysore, a city in Karnataka was the birth place of Mysore Tanjore paintings and they were lived around 2nd century B.C. to 7th century A.D. and tell us about the history of that time. The main specialty of these kinds of Tanjore paintings are delicate lines, intricate brush strokes, graceful delineation of figures which are mostly gods and goddesses as they were designed for inspiring the feeling of devotion.
Tanjore paintings are very different from other paintings as they are very unique and authentic. It is also said that by bringing Tanjore painting home, one also brought very positive type of energy to the house. Most of the artisans as ornaments and clothing used lot of precious and semiprecious gems and gold foils for graceful figures which are Mythological Hindu Gods like Shiva, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Sarastwati, Parvathi, Krishna, Radha, Nat raja, Ganesha Tanjore paintings and many more.
