Progetto Manifattura Green Innovation Factory About us n Project Progetto Manifattura - Green Innovation Factory is transforming a 9-hectare (22-acre) historic tobacco facility into a business, innovation and research hub for green building, renewable energy, and environmental technology. The project is the premier green technology partner in Italy, offering turnkey business solutions, a supportive environment, and excellent connections to northeast Italy and Europe. The project is focusing on business development in a framework of a regional strategy to promote climate change accountability. Using business and public strategies in the context of a landmark facility, Manifattura will demonstrate how to reach carbon reduction targets, achieve sustainable growth and adopt responsible behaviors. The location will inspire innovation by offering attractive spaces in historic and new eco-sustainable buildings.
n Company The autonomous Province of Trento created Manifattura domani in 2009. It is a private company held by Trentino Sviluppo, the province’s economic development arm. Headquartered in Rovereto, the company’s mission is to create and manage a green technology hub. The company carries out strategies that promote growth in eco-sustainable business.
Opportunity Progetto Manifattura will host and incubate around 50 small to medium sized enterprises in con three uabili main areas: green building, renewable energy and environmental technologies. Companies that locate at Manifattura can establish a powerful presence in northern Italy at a landmark space that is both urban and integrated into the natural environment. Companies will take part in a unique fusion of private enterprise, research, and education that is designed to catalyze innovation and promote growth. Ecosystem for innovation The Province of Trento is taking a lead role in green growth strategy, and has the tools and background for success. As an autonomous province, Trentino can provide the legislative and financial instruments to foster research and innovation. The province is especially supportive of initiatives that protect and sustain the natural beauty of the mountainous region. Support for Progetto Manifattura is also strong in terms of business community involvement. Over 300 companies are taking part in the Habitech green-building consortium, one of the project’s key tenants.

Environmental Leadership. The province was the first in Italy to adopt LEED standards. All new residential buildings must meet Class A energy efficiency.
Incentives. Companies and groups that locate in Manifattura are eligible for incentives and financing from the province. Examples include contributions for industrial research projects. Incubation. Trentino Sviluppo manages seven Business Incubation Centers in the province.

Strong University. In 2010, Repubblica-Censis ranks the University of Trento number one in its annual census of Italian universities. Excellent Schools. OECD PISA test ranks Trentino schools first in Italy and top tier among member countries.
Research and Development. More than 2,000 people work in the province’s research centers. Year to year, the province invests 1.38% of its GDP in research, 30% higher than the national average. Research centers include: Bruno Kessler Foundation, University of Trento, Microsoft – University of Trento Center for Computational and Systems Biology (CoSBi), MIT Mobile Experience Lab, and Fiat Research Center.
