NEW CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL : CONCRETE LUMBER (instead of wooden plank)
Introduction Concrete Lumber is a patented stress-reinforced structural cementitious composite that is strong, chemical free and low maintenance. It is an affordable outdoor alternative to wood, steel, composites, LVL and glulams. Concrete Lumber requires basic woodworking skills for installation and can be cut, drilled and screwed using a circular saw with masonry blades and a power drill using masonry bits. When joist loaded, (1.5" thick) Concrete Lumber spans 10% to 20% greater than the same size wood joist. When plank loaded, the same size (1.5" thick) Concrete Lumber plank can span 3 times greater than the same size wood plank and 4 times greater than same size composite plank. When plank loaded, the next thickness (3.5" thick) Concrete Lumber plank spans 5 times greater than a (1.5" thick) wood plank and 7 times greater than a (1.5" thick) composite plank, (3.5") thick Concrete Lumber plank with a one-ton uniform load having clear span of 10 feet and only 0.25" deflection. Concrete Lumber is splinter free and fire resistant, will not warp, burn, delaminate, rot or be attacked by insects. Concrete Lumber joists, posts, beams and planks are made in dimensional lumber sizes for easy assembly using galvanized or stainless steel fasteners and connectors.
Advantages of Concrete Lumber Concrete Lumber has a greater span capacity than same-size wood lumber and will not burn, rot, warp, rust, delaminate or splinter. It does not require any chemical treatment for insects or for ground or below grade uses.
