Vorwort “Von nun an wird dieses merkwürdige Ding hier ein Cover haben. Wir wählen es. Das ist schön und sehr demokratisch.......sehr demokratisch. Ansonsten hat sich nicht viel geändert. Das 2. und 6. Semester sind jetzt mit an Bord und mit jeweils einer Person vertreten. Das ist nicht wirklich demokratisch, kann sich aber noch ändern. Tja. ” M.O.Q ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt der Studenten des Studiengangs Fotodesign der HS München. Eine Schirmherrschaft Seitens der HS, des Fachbereiches Design oder einzelner Lehrender oder Mitarbeiter besteht nicht. Eine eventuelle Erweiterung auf alle Studenten der Fakultät Design ist angedacht. M.O.Q versteht sich als Werkschau und Forum außerhalb des Unterricht und des darin festgelegten Regelwerks. M.O.Q entsteht ohne Redaktion. Jeder Autor ist alleine verantwortlich für die von ihm eingereichten Seiten und deren Inhalt. Jedem Autor stehen maximal 3 Doppelseiten zur Verfügung. M.O.Q ist ein Experiment

The world that we know, be it town or countryside, has been planned and constructed over millennia. Observed holistically, we are simply part of one small phase that carries on what others have begun - and in fact they too were stewarding the instinctively planned inheritance of their time.

Auf einer von Gleichheit geprägten Fassadenlandschaft der Versiegelung, hinter welcher minimal individualisierte Stereotypen hausen, spielt sich der Kampf von zwei gesetzten Positionen ab. Die 10 lila Geschütze der Finanzwelt, die Schöpfer der Stereotypen, wirken künstlich und umstellen den
Kontrapunkt omnipräsent. Im Zentrum wächst der grüne Baum der Ausgeglichenheit und symbolisiert die umweltbewusste Innovation. Von der Bildmitte fließen Abläufe zu den Rändern und tragen gebrochenen Willen in umliegende Regionen um diesen von grün nach lila umzufärben.

A natural park is by definition “a preserved landscape which has arisen through action, use and cultivation. The intention is that this valuable cultural landscape be preserved in its current form and at the same time marketed to tourists.” (Source: Wikipedia)
This very apt definition of a natural park includes the idea that the land has been optimized by humans for their use and furthermore that it should be profitably preserved in this calculated state.

These photographs show construction processes and provide an insight into the variations of German politics about forests. Variety is reduced to artlessness. If you let your thoughts repose long enough on the subject matter in an open way, the scale becomes comprehensible. Paths pervade ad-
equately cleared out monocultures of different ages on bleak soil. Changes in type and appearance occur in breaks that are just as hard as the clear lines drawn by the edges of the woods. The search for nature in the greenery appears in vain. (oju)

By definition, a green space is “a piece of land covered with plants”. If you take the word literally, the original thought behind the green spaces becomes manifest. For evolutionary reasons, the color green is relaxing for humans; we associate it with nature. Only through the absence of nature was
it possible for the artificially fabricated “green space” to develop. “Green space” encourages personal discourse on topics like nature and sealing off, here and now, past and future, right and wrong, other people and myself... (oju)

On the topic of “Paradise Lost”, the work “Herrschaftszeiten” has been developing in southern Germany in the years 2008 and 2009. The store buildings typical for discount supermarkets become the focus of a debate on aesthetics and minimalism, on the void and on interchangeability. With
all the stylistic devices and statements they make, these photographs move very close to the spirit of their time. (oju)
