Let Us Give Graciously to Save Children’s Lives This year, we decided to call the Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest “Magnolia Magic: A Celebration of Gracious Giving” because we have personally witnessed the beauty and generosity displayed by participants like you, year after year. It’s with great appreciation for the millions of dollars that have been raised thus far, and with great hope for the future of Southwest Florida’s children that we welcome you to the 2016 Grand Tasting & Live Auction. Only when you look into the eyes of a child who is healthy and thriving because of the special care they have received at Golisano Children’s Hospital, and watch the hands of many caring and talented young professionals at work, learning to provide lifesaving care at Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida SouthWestern College, do you begin to understand the true magic of this signature event. We have seen the results of your donations first hand, families held together, children undergoing the lifesaving care they need and deserve, and students realizing their dreams to help young patients in need. It’s an honor to be part of this special event that touches so many lives. We hope you find this year’s wine fest to be a truly magical experience, steeped in southern hospitality, as we celebrate gracious giving!

The Future of Pediatric Health Care Is Now When you give graciously at the 2016 Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest, you save children’s lives. In fact, 100% of the proceeds from this auction go directly to the beneficiaries of SWFL Children’s Charities Inc., a non-profit whose sole mission is to support lifesaving pediatric health care in Southwest Florida. This charity’s primary beneficiary is the Golisano Children’s Hospital, for which SWFL Children’s Charities, Inc. is the second largest donor, next to Tom Golisano himself. Through this event, the charity has already surpassed a $10 million pledge to help build the new hospital, and it recently committed to raising another $5 million. Additional proceeds will go toward the educational needs of future pediatric health care professionals. Graduates and interns of local higher education institutions are already serving the children of Southwest Florida, thanks in part to the $1.6 million SWFL Children’s Charities, Inc. has donated to educational programs in our region over the past seven years. The funds raised will help fulfill the most recent pledge of $2 million in scholarships and equipment over the next five years, $1 million each to Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida SouthWestern State College. From building a state-of-the-art hospital that provides lifesaving care close to home for our area’s children to supporting the next generation of pediatric health care professionals in Southwest Florida, SWFL Children’s Charities, Inc. welcomes you to help us build a better future for local children today… Because the future of pediatric health care is now. 10
100% of Funds Raised Support Three Remarkable Causes SWFL Children’s Charities, Inc. is the second largest donor to Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, where children receive lifesaving care close to home. The new hospital is this event’s primary beneficiary. Having recently fulfilled a $10 million pledge to the hospital, the Trustees proceeded to raise an additional $2.5 million with a community matching challenge. Now, SWFL Children’s Charities, Inc. has pledged another $5 million over the next five years, earning a naming opportunity, with which it will dedicate the new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) to Dr. Bob Arnall in recognition of his passion, leadership and advocacy for pediatric health care in Southwest Florida. With every donation, we help children get the lifesaving care they need and help families avoid the physical, financial and emotional strain of commuting to a hospital far away. The College of Health Professions and Social Work at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) is cultivating the next generation of pediatric health care professionals in Southwest Florida. Having previously granted $950,000 to support this program, SWFL Children’s Charities, Inc. has pledged another $1 million over five years to provide scholarships to local deserving students who are receiving state-of-the-art training to meet the need for pediatric health services in Southwest Florida. These dollars are already making an impact, as many of the scholarship recipients are now volunteering, interning or working at Golisano Children’s Hospital. The School of Health Professions at Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) prepares students to work with children in diverse areas such as nursing, dental hygiene, paramedicine and physical therapy. The SWFL Children’s Charities, Inc. Simulation Center at FSW is named in recognition of past donations totaling $650,000. The Trustees have pledged ongoing support in the amount of $1 million over the next five years to provide much-needed funding for scholarships, equipment, technology, software and continued pediatric training for FSW. Strengthening programs like FSW’s will ensure that children receive the most advanced care from a team of well-trained medical professionals. 11
A Million Reasons Children are not little adults. They aren’t the same size, and they don’t communicate the same way, but they do deserve lifesaving care that is equally safe and effective. This requires special tools, equipment and technology that are made just for them. To help provide the special surgical instruments and communication and monitoring technology that a state-of-the-art children’s hospital needs to serve its most vulnerable patients, SWFL Children’s Charities, Inc. presents “A Million Reasons to Give,” an opportunity to help give the new Golisano Children’s Hospital approximately $1 million in equipment and technology that will ensure quality care for young patients. “Emerging technologies are critical to providing the highest quality care to our patients and families,” said Kathy Bridge-Liles, chief administrative officer, Golisano Children’s Hospital. “Just as many professionals rely on technology to achieve their goals, we will rely upon the latest technology to help protect the little ones in our care.” “I can’t give you a single reason to give, because every child we treat is special and worthy of the best surgical care and the right-sized tools for optimal healing,” adds Dr. Amy Stanfill, pediatric surgeon at Golisano Children’s Hospital.
12
“From my heart, I believe each child represents a Million Reasons to Give.”
10 Years of Child Artists Illustrate The Power of Nothing illustrates the reason Golisano Children’s Hospital is the primary beneficiary of the Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest better than the child artist program. Each year for the past ten years, a young patient of Golisano Children’s Hospital has been selected to work with artist Ellen Sheppard to create a one-of-a-kind work of art to be auctioned off during the festival. The child artists’ stories are incredibly moving, and their works are precious reflections of their individual personalities, hopes and dreams. Auction participants have fallen in love in these works year 2013: Ella Sterling, age 5 after year, bidding generously to support the patients of Golisano Children’s Hospital. Bids for the artwork will start at $5,000, and last year’s child art raised $500,000. Traditionally, the works are then donated back to the hospital, depicting the healing power of art, as well as the generosity it inspires, in a gallery where medical staff, patients, families and visitors can glean inspiration from these images.

Avery McCaskill, of Naples, began treatment for leukemia at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida when she was four years old. Her watercolor portrayal of the wise old owl is precious. An orange and yellow creature perched on a branch, the owl’s eyes say it all with an inquisitive twinkle that Avery’s mother assures us is a window into her daughter’s personality. The sky indicates a sunny outlook, and the optimistic tone is moving considering the magnitude of the young artist’s health struggles. Then again, she is triumphing over her disease, and there is good reason to believe in blue skies ahead.
“Owls are pretty,” says Avery, adding that she feels she is “even wiser” than the owl. Her drawing will be put up for bid during the live auction. Avery is the 10th child artist to contribute her talents, and the original works of child artists have been donated to the hospital and displayed on a wall named for Jerry Schmoyer, a longtime Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest supporter who lost his battle with cancer four years ago. Over the past five years, the children’s art has raised nearly $1 million!
14
Changing of the Guard Ellen Sheppard, the artist who guided Avery, and nine other child artists before her, in the artistic process, is passing the brush to a new art mentor, Joelene Black. Next year’s artist will work with Black whose daughter Sophia was the 2015 Child Artist. “It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years,” says Sheppard. “It’s the highlight of the year for me. I’ve been blessed to be able to do this for 10 years, and I’m going to miss it. I really am.”
2017 Art Mentor, Joelene Black with protégé, Ellen Sheppard
2016 Art Mentor, Ellen Sheppard with husband, John Sheppard and 2016 Child Artist, Avery McCaskill
Sheppard is optimistic about the future of the program under Black who she calls “a wonderful lady with new ideas.” Since the program began in 2006, child art has raised nearly $1 million at auction for the Golisano Children’s Hospital. As Sheppard puts it, “Sadly, we have a lot of children who need this hospital. It’s really beautiful that this is taking place.”

The Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest is proud to have Williams Selyem Winery as the 2016 Honored Signature Vintner, and we welcome head winemaker, Jeff Mangahas, to our signature event! With an array of vineyards and growers throughout California, the internationally-acclaimed Williams Selyem Winery offers a premier selection of hand-crafted wines, including pinot noir, chardonnay, zinfandel and port vintages. The winery’s mission to make the best wines, from the best grapes, from the best growers has culminated in an assortment of complex and delectable wines that will excite the palate of any wine connoisseur. Head winemaker of Willams Selyem Winery, Mangahas offers a unique perspective into the development of fine wines. A native of Washington, Mangahas graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. Upon launching his career as a research scientist in Seattle, Mangahas explored the deep, tannic vintages of Washington’s varied wine regions. When his career took him to New York City, Mangahas discovered another facet to his fascination with wine through the art of pairing it with fresh and passionately prepared cuisine. During this time, Mangahas also visited the wine regions of France, where his scientific roots, desire to understand the process and ongoing curiosity to discover what made wine taste a certain way, ran wild. He traveled the French countryside of Burgundy and Bordeaux, sampling and discovering how place and climate can create subtle variations in the flavor and complexity of a bottle of wine. Mangahas realized his hobby needed to become his career, and enrolled in the Enology program at the University of California, Davis, graduating with his master’s in 2003. He has since cultivated his expertise through his work at Artesa Vineyards, Dutton-Goldfield Winery and Hartford Family Winery, before joining Williams Selyem.

Benovia Winery Benovia Winery harvests grapes from estate vineyards that span more than 71 planted acres in three distinctive locations across the Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast and Sonoma County. The goal of proprietors Joe Anderson, Mary Dewane and Mike Sullivan is to get to know each vineyard block intimately, learn its special qualities and stay attuned to each vine’s needs - all to promote the optimum ripeness and flavor development of their fruit. The passion they have for winemaking is in every bottle of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel they produce. www.benoviawinery.com
Carter Cellars & Envy Wines Carter Cellars has exceptional Cabernets, Merlots and Bordeaux Blends in barrel and bottle. For well over a decade, Carter Cellars has been sourcing grapes from the most legendary vineyards in Napa and creating some of the finest Cabernet, Merlot and Bordeaux Blends available. Mark Carter and veteran Napa winemaker Nils Venge, who became fast friends while sharing their all-encompassing passion for great wines, began looking for a permanent home for Carter Cellars. In 2006, they founded Envy Winery, a 17-acre property specializing in Estate grown Merlot, Cabernet and Petite Sirah that would become the new home of Carter Cellars. As Carter Cellars continues to create amazing wines from some of the best vineyard sites in Napa, Envy continues to receive recognition for its high-quality handcrafted wines. www.cartercellars.com | www.envywines.com | www.ancillarycellars.com 24
Checkerboard Vineyards Renowned Winemaker Martha McClellan has directed the winemaking and winegrowing programs at Checkerboard from its first vintage in 2006 to the current harvest. Martha’s absolute commitment to the highest standards of vineyard and winery practices has created teams at Checkerboard that reflect those standards to their fullest. Checkerboard is blessed with significant variations in elevation, soil composition, sun exposure and rootstock and clone combinations. The fruit carefully nurtured from this rich landscape and masterfully transformed is Checkerboard. www.checkerboardvineyards.com
Dakota Shy From carefully selected vineyards, produced in very small quantities, and artfully crafted to reflect a sense of place, Dakota Shy wines are a testament to Napa Valley’s reputation for producing the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines in the world. Dakota Shy was formed out of the passion that friends and colleagues, Todd Newman and Tom Garrett, have for the wines, history and vineyards of Napa Valley. Their goal is to craft wines of substance and place that rival the best of what Napa Valley has to offer; from the pinnacle of quality and luxury to world-class Cabernet Sauvignon that can proudly be placed on the table and enjoyed every week. www.dakotashywine.com

Gamble Family Vineyards Tom Gamble is a farmer first with the philosophy that “good wine begins on the vine.” In every wine produced at Gamble Family Vineyards, their goal is to capture the essence of its Napa Valley vineyards and the grapes grown thereon. Seeking balanced, nuanced, complex wines, they let the land dictate the varietals grown and apply only natural farming practices to ensure the full expression of the fruit. They harvest their grapes in micro-lots, picking the fruit at its peak ripeness. Gamble Family wines are produced in small quantities, with the careful attention to farming Tom’s forbearers would expect. www.gamblefamilyvineyards.com
Husic Vineyards On the Husic’s hillside property, overlooking the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley, Julie and Frank set out to realize a life-long dream. In 1997, moving endless rocks and sculpting narrow terraces that cling to the mountain’s edge, they planted three small, extremely steep Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, which peacefully coexist with the region’s wildlife that have yielded a limited amount of magnificent fruit. The Husic Family is very grateful for the beautiful land they live on, and the incredible grapes produced by their three, small, rocky, steep vineyards overlooking the Stags Leap District. Husic Vineyards produces six wines: the estate grown Husic Vineyards Cabernet and Palm Terrace Cabernet, Husic Vineyards Chardonnay, Husic Vineyards Pinot Noir, Husic Vineyards Late Harvest Semillon and Palm Terrace Rosé from Pinot Noir. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes are purchased from vineyards on the “true” Sonoma Coast, near Occidental. The Husic family is proud to share these beautiful wines with you. www.husicvineyards.com 26
Revana Estate Vineyard In 1997, while visiting the Napa Valley, Dr. Madaiah Revana discovered a small parcel of prime vineyard land in St. Helena. Dr. Revana immediately sensed the property’s potential. The area was already known for producing some of the world’s most sought after Cabernet Sauvignon and the property’s gravelly soils, sloped pitch, and excellent exposures seemed perfect for growing grapes. Studies of the soil composition confirmed that it was an ideal location for premium Bordeaux varieties. In 1998, Dr. Revana hired acclaimed vineyard manager, Jim Barbour, to plant and maintain the nine-acre estate vineyard. Renowned winemaker Heidi Barrett has been responsible for crafting the exceptional wines of the Revana Estate Vineyard since its first vintage in 2001. She has left an indelible imprint, and today, winemaker Thomas Brown continues the tradition of making world-class Cabernet Sauvignon in the Revana style. Revana has enjoyed great critical success, including the honor of being ranked fourth in the world in Wine Spectator’s “Top 100 Wines” of 2010. www.revanawine.com
Saint Helena Winery Founded in the year 2000, Saint Helena Winery was created to promote estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon that appeals to curious and cultured wine buyers looking beyond big wine brands for new discoveries. The Saint Helena wines are for people who collect and enjoy rare items for personal indulgence. Winemakers Aaron Pott and Elizabeth Tangney guide the creation of three estate Cabernet Sauvignons, a Chardonnay and a few very small lots of estate specialties. Saint Helena Winery prides itself in making wines that are meticulously crafted with knowledge and respect. www.sthelenawinery.com 27

Pritchard Hill is the source of some of California’s most outstanding Cabernets, with BRAND Napa Valley being one of the newest and most successful wineries in the area. Emblematic of Napa’s new frontiers and grown on a vineyard reclaimed from Pritchard Hill’s legendary boulders, BRAND is crafted by Philippe Melka, one of America’s finest winemakers. Proprietors Ed Fitts and Deb Whitman just released their third vintage to strong reviews. www.brandnapavalley.com
V Madrone Cellars Chris Tilley is one of those rare (and fortunate) people who was actually born in Napa Valley, and graduated from St. Helena High School in 1973. Along with his wife Pauline, they returned to their roots to resurrect an old 1880’s ghost winery on the western hillside just north of St. Helena into the present day family-owned V Madrone Cellars. V Madrone is known for its small production estate Cabernet Sauvignon, produced at its 3.5-acre vineyard at the winery with now eight vintages of Cabernet under their belts produced from the V Madrone estate lands that had been fallow since prohibition. Along with their classic old world Cabernet crafted by winemaker, Chris Dearden, V Madrone also produces small quantities of Old Vines Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and a Chardonnay. V Madrone will join us again for next year’s Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest as our 2017 Honored Signature Vintner. www.vmadronecellars.com

The 100-point wine is a title received by the most extraordinary wines that deserve your attention, offering compelling character that is representative of the winemaker’s attention to quality. Wines that hold the score of 100 can make your wine collection rise above all others, and when each of these wines hold the coveted 100-point rating of international wine critic, Robert Parker, the value of your collection will become even higher. Parker’s ratings are internationally recognized and admired for the interest, knowledge and sophistication of his wine critiques. Parker celebrates the delectable wines that are featured in this collection. “…Sine Qua Non is a result of obsessive attention to detail at all stages of the process. There’s no secret or hidden magic. The incredibly talented and down to earth Manfred Krankl offers up his wine in a voluptuous style. Spectacular, stunning and gorgeous. This wine is not to be missed by any wine connoisseur” Parker said of the Sine Qua Non 2005 17th Nail In My Cranium (August 2013). | Lot 10 The Wise Owl Painting
| Ag e 6 | 2016 Child Artist Like many young children, Avery is naturally drawn to art. As the 2016 Child Artist for the Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest, six-year-old Avery McCaskill had the unique opportunity to work with Child Life veteran and artist Ellen Sheppard, and a new art mentor, Joelene Black, to create the poster art available for auction. A patient of Golisano Children’s Hospital, Avery worked alongside artist Ellen Sheppard to create a one-of-a-kind painting of one of her favorite subjects, a wise and beautiful owl. An orange and yellow creature perched on a branch, the owl’s eyes say it all with an inquisitive twinkle that her mother says, is a window into her daughter’s personality. Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida is the primary beneficiary of the Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest, and nothing illustrates SWFL Children’s Charities, Inc.’s motivation for supporting this organization better than the child artist program. Now in its 10th year, the child artist program has raised more than $1 million over 10 years to benefit pediatric care at the five-county region’s only children’s hospital, Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. 60
Each year, a young person’s original artwork is donated back to the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida and featured on a hospital wall in honor of longtime Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest supporter Jerry Schmoyer, who passed away from cancer. This auction lot has become one of the most popular at the Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest, with the 2015 lot raising $500,000. Your winning bid will ensure that Avery’s artwork is displayed on the walls of the Golisano Children’s Hospital as this year’s child artist for the 2016 Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest, and your name will be listed as a special donor next to her artwork. With a minimum bid of $5,000, everyone can be the winner of this very special auction lot. Prepare to raise your paddles and bid high to support Avery and the wonderful children at Golisano Children’s Hospital!

| Lot 24 A Million Reasons to Give
This is more than an opportunity to GIVE, this is an OPPORTUNITY to provide children with the latest equipment making their CARE possible. Children are not little adults, and one tool doesn’t fit all when it comes to pediatric surgery. When babies or children need surgery, the pediatric surgeons at the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida are specially trained to care for their surgical needs. For the child’s optimal health and safety, pediatric surgeons require child-sized instruments, and small tools often cost more. This year, SWFL Children’s Charities introduces “A Million Reasons to Give” to help raise much-needed funds to stock the new Golisano Children’s Hospital with tiny tools and technology that enable pediatric surgeons to provide the highest level of surgical care for children. Last year, you graciously helped us raise $455,000 for pediatric and neonatal care. This year, the need is greater as the list for child-sized instruments amounts to $1 million. With your help, we hope to provide the necessary equipment and medical services needed to expand the new Golisano Children’s Hospital, so no child has to wait for treatment. WHY WAIT to contribute to this special cause? DONATE ONLINE NOW! 96
Visit www.SWFLWineFest.org and make you donation at any time before, or even after, the event. This is a gift that keeps on giving, so please spread the word to your friends and neighbors about “A Million Reasons to Give,” and make a difference in the lives of Southwest Florida children! No gift is too big or too small to help these children. Please be a lifesaver and raise your paddle! We thank you in advanced for your gracious generosity and support. With her expertise in pediatric surgery for children with injuries or disorders that require surgical intervention, Dr. Amy Stanfill understands first-hand the need for specialized child-sized instruments. “I can’t give you a single reason to give, because every child we treat is special and worthy of the best surgical care and the right-sized tools for optimal healing,” said Dr. Amy Stanfill, pediatric surgeon at Golisano Children’s Hospital. “From my heart, I believe each child represents a million reasons to give.” Pediatric Surgery Equipment: 100% of the funds raised through A Million Reasons to Give will support the efforts of providing the required highly specialized and expensive equipment for the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. This is just an example of the equipment that is needed to save lives: • Wolf Infant Urology Set which allows the pediatric urologist to perform intricate procedures on the genitourinary system in our most fragile patients: $99,000 each. • Lap Pylomyotomy Tray’s are sophisticated and comprehensive tools for laparoscopic procedures in babies, children and adolescents, making every intervention as minimally invasive as possible: $22,000 each. • Phoropter which is an instrument used to determine vision in each eye, as well as identify problems such as astigmatism: $1,500 each. • Bone Mill with Cable are used for bone surgery for children who require specialized equipment that will maximize optimal regrowth: $13,200 each. **For a complete list of needs, visit swflwinefest.org. *Bidder Notes: • Please review the Auction Procedures on pages 16-17 within the General Information tab of this auction book for important information.
