A WORD FROM THE EDITOR Mother Nature is having quite an impact on my life right now, mostly positive, but not entirely! I’m looking after grandma’s chickens for a few days while she’s away. It’s not difficult: put them in, let them out, give them some grain… job done. Except not this time! Last night one of them went missing and I found myself clucking around the garden for about an hour in torrential rain trying to find her. I can only imagine how ridiculous I looked but I most certainly wasn’t laughing. Of course I didn’t find her so spent a restless night wondering how to tell grandma that Blossom was done for. When I went to let the others out this morning, there she was waiting for me in all her glory, perfectly dry, well-rested and seemingly happy. A bit too happy for my liking! Meanwhile, back at home a mummy blackbird (I’ve called her Marilyn because she’s very beautiful) has taken up residence under the roof of our little outdoor lean-to, a place I like to sit with a book when the weather allows. She’s busily feeding four babies, constantly flying back and forth all day long. I must say I admire/envy her energy and it is a rather beautiful thing to see, but she’s making my garden a no-go area as every time I open the door she abandons her chicks and sits on the wall until I leave. I imagine she’s sitting there muttering “here she comes again… what is it this time… can’t she see I’m busy… what is she wearing?”. I end up feeling guilty for invading ‘her’ space so I retreat indoors and leave her to it. I haven’t even put the bins out this week because I’m afraid to scare her away. How would I cope with four baby blackbirds? Not very well I suspect. I don’t suppose she and her babies will be there for very long and despite the inconvenience (and the mess, but let’s not go there right now) I’m glad we have given them a safe place to hatch. I do love living in the countryside. Even those of us who live in Suffolk towns and villages are never far from a wide open space and a big sky view. We really are incredibly lucky and when better weather lands, as surely it must, I hope you have the opportunity and the means to get about to explore or simply admire our surroundings. You may not have to go very far, unless your garden is out of bounds too!

NEWS BRAMFORD PARISH COUNCIL Even with summer now upon us, the parish council continues to work behind the scenes making sure things run smoothly. Our street cleaners are often busier than usual when the days are long and people get out and about, unfortunately sometimes dropping litter indiscriminately as they go. And after we’ve paid a small fortune out for littler bins over the last twelve months too! Talking of money, all went well with the council’s audit in May, indicating that we’re doing alright when it comes to providing services efficiently and spending public funds wisely. Bramford residents are welcome to book an appointment during the first two weeks of July, with our clerk, Diana, to inspect relevant documents if they wish. Much rumour has been circulating about money being available to the parish council through new housing. Funding is available for certain projects, but the processes have proven to be considerably more complicated than many had us believe. It’s hoped, that by the time you’re reading this, the first of these projects will be successfully underway. Fingers crossed! Finally, a few dates for your diary. Our meetings for the next few months are as follows: 15 July, 16 September, 21 October, 18 November, 16 December, 20 January 2020, 17 February, 16 March, 20 April, Annual Parish Meeting 27 April and the Annual Council Meeting 18 May. Please feel free to pop along and get involved.
SUFFOLK ENERGY-FROM-WASTE FACILITY Suffolk Show 2019 Our team was back at the Suffolk Show in the Suffolk Waste Partnership marquee. This year the theme of the display was Wonderful Waste Free Woodland. Local schools kindly donated foxes, owls, deer and other woodland creatures which they had crafted out of waste materials. There were plenty of activities to take part in, including a litter pick of a woodland floor, a crafting table where old CDs were transformed into owls and a quiz about rubbish and recycling. As well as answering questions about energy-from-waste and inviting people to open days and tours, SUEZ brought along a cycle-powered scalextric track where visitors could use the electricity they generated from pedalling a bike to race a car around a track. Over the two days more than 4,000 people visited the marquee. We had a great time this year and are already looking forward to next year’s show. Come and have a look around Are you interested in finding out how your household waste is turned into energy? We are hosting a series of open days throughout the upcoming months. We have places available on the following dates: 19 July at 10am, 6 August at 6pm, 28 August at 2pm, 9 September at 10am and 24 October at 6pm. There are up to 20 spaces available on each day, and pre-booking is essential. Email suffolkefw.uk@suez.com or call 01473 839149 to enquire about a space. Can’t make the dates? We host tours for groups or five or more people, or alternatively we can contact you when our next open days are scheduled. If you have any queries about our operations, please do not hesitate to contact the facility: 01473 839149 / suffolkefw.uk@suez.com OTHER USEFUL CONTACTS To book a visit: 01473 839149 / suffolkefw.uk@suez.com Environment Agency: 0800 807 060 SUEZ Communities Trust: 01454 262910
GIPPING VALLEY COUNTY & BLAKENHAM DISTRICT COUNCILLOR JOHN FIELD SCC Children’s Services ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted have given Suffolk County Council Children’s Services an ‘Outstanding’ rating, one of only seven to achieve this and a testament to the hard work of frontline staff. The council struggles to fill social worker vacancies, but work in such a highly regarded service should be attractive. Care-leavers Accommodation BBC Newsnight reported a large number of care-leavers housed in unregulated accommodation. The figures for Suffolk were the fourth largest rising from 24 in 2009 to 113 in 2018. We were assured that there are support workers living on site or paying regular visits, that the council is fully aware of the risks and has the issues under control. Scrutiny Scrutiny will set up Task and Finish groups to investigate education issues, such as home-to-school transport and SEND placements. I am working with the chair of Scrutiny to get these up and running and open to the public and the press. Our June meeting was dedicated to Elective Home Education where there is a fear that some schools faced with challenging pupils are ‘Off Rolling’ them to improve the school’s educational ratings. We will be doing more work on this. Our July meeting will cover the poor progress on the production of education, health and care plans, a significant part of the county’s SEND performance issue. New System for Sponsored Bus Services Funding for sponsored bus services will be fixed by a new system devised by a cross-party panel. It will consider: • Number of single passenger journeys per day of operation • Percentage of Concessionary Travel Scheme journeys • Number of entitled students on bus route • Type of service, days operated and alternative services • Integration with commercial bus services • Average cost per passenger journey Babergh and Mid Suffolk’s Local Plan The Local Plan starts with an estimate of the housing need in the Ipswich area and defines a hierarchy of settlements and policies that will allocate development to areas and villages. A series of councillor meetings have looked at the draft text, but not the plans or detailed allocation of housing. The time was short, but I hope we were thorough. We did find a number of issues and asked for the text to be cleaned up to remove ambiguity and errors that make it difficult to understand. It’s important you know what it means. Consultation should start in late June. If you have any queries, please ring 07545 423808 or email: john.field@suffolk.gov.uk
SOMERSHAM/CHALLAIN-LA-POTHERIE VILLAGE LINK We were delighted to once again receive our visitors from Challain to Somersham at the end of May. Local families hosted 46 visitors, the weather did us proud and a very happy time was had by all. A warm welcome awaited our guests, thanks to Mark and his team, on the Thursday evening. A day in Norwich was organised for Friday, with guided tours, lunch and free time to discover all the delights of the city. Saturday was a day for hosts and visitors to do their own thing, with an international tournament arranged for the early evening. A tasty
4
barbecue and entertainment at the Duke of Marlborough rounded off a very enjoyable weekend. The international tournament took the form of a version of English bowls on the playing field. This was great fun and a highly amusing with the home team winning by a small margin. The French team took 22 points and the English team won the trophy by winning 23 points. We look forward to keeping the trophy when we have a return bout in Challain next year.

NEWS CHERNOBYL CHILDREN’S LIFELINE & CHARITY SHOP As a follower of our charity you may be aware of the recent interest in the Chernobyl Disaster revitalised due to the broadcasting of the Chernobyl miniseries on Sky TV. We can tell you the mini-series is very factual and what you saw is very close to reality. The producers made great efforts to stay true to the facts. We were extremely proud to have been honoured by a visit from one of the few surviving First Responders from the Chernobyl Disaster. Colonel Andrei Mizko (retired) was one of the helicopter pilots sent in to try to put out the fire by dropping sand and other materials directly into the reactor. Many died and of those surviving few are able to travel to the west to tell the true story. On 18 June Colonel Mizko gave a talk revealing the events of that terrible night when he was dragged from his bed and sent into Chernobyl, and the events that unfolded from then on. In this live witness account from a true Chernobyl hero, Colonel Mizko also talked about the surviving firefighters and others who were directly involved in the tragedy, together with information about those still having to live with the after effects. Such is the power of television that tickets were almost sold out within a week of our announcing the talk. I am told by friends in Belarus that the series is getting top rating, but as told to me: “It is very sad, no one wants to watch it but we must, it is our history and our future”. At the time you will be reading this newsletter the summer group of children will have arrived and we will be doing our very best to ensure they go home with forever memories of their time in the UK with us, all thanks to the support of people such as yourselves. On behalf of the children, a massive thank-you very much! Link Chair Elizabeth Parker 01449 760343 / enquiries@ccllmidusffolk.org.uk FB: @Ccllmidsuffolk
SOMERSHAM AND DISTRICT COMMUNITY SHOP The Playing Field, Princes Gardens, Somersham /
01473 833416
OPENING TIMES Monday to Friday: 8am-6pm / Saturdays: 9am-1pm A COMMUNITY SHOP FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND RUN BY THE LOCAL COMMUNITY Saturday 6 July is when we are offering a cup of coffee (tea, chocolate, cold drink) and biscuits to all our customers to help celebrate the seventh anniversary of our opening. We’ve achieved a lot over that time and become a social centre for the area as well as providing fresh local products and other household goods. It’s good to know people locally, to know what events are taking place and to be able to keep in touch with each other. We are very happy to welcome Mary Carter to our management team. She has lots of thoughts already for the way forward and one of these was to hold Meet up Mondays when people can come along to have coffee with others and chat. Sounds an excellent idea and can hopefully be put in place in the near future. Any interest in that? Let us know if you think it’s a good idea. Shopping locally and buying locally produced items really does save on travel miles. We have always embraced recycling and caring for the environment. Bring your once used carrier bags and egg cartons for use again and paper bags are our stock-in-trade for mushrooms and anything else that needs bagging. We also have strong Community Shop shopping bags on sale. They fold up, are easy to take about and can be carried on the shoulder so are a good size. Have a look when next in the shop – they’re very useful and environmentally friendly as well. Our local-grown tomatoes are delicious and sell very quickly, and local, new season honey is now on sale. Local eggs, cakes, juices, pies, cheeses, meat and vegetables all produced within Suffolk. What an excellent way to protect the environment, give employment to local people and help the local economy to thrive. We all love our summer holidays and eagerly look forward to them. Our volunteers are no exception to this, but it does mean that when volunteers are away others may work more shifts to cover. So we always welcome new volunteers, especially to help cover for holidays or other life-events. Volunteering really does include us in the community and allows us to get to know so many people. If you are new to the village, have just retired, are a student on holiday, or want to be involved for any other reason, please come along and join us. And don’t forget our services; dry cleaning, newspapers, Coffee Corner, book exchange, deliveries to those with mobility problems. There’s a lot to offer from our local shop. We look forward to seeing you. Management Team: Lucy Barrett – 831890; Sue Browne – 831321; Mary Carter; Stephen Bullard; Janet Hodge – 832296; Peter Jousiffe; Anne MacFadyen – 831288

CHARLIE HAYLOCK “The History of Spoken English”
PLOUGHMAN’S LUNCHES AND PLANT SALE St Mary’s Church, Bramford on 11 May Being the organisers of the plant sales section, my good friend Barry Earthy and I were absolutely delighted with the excellent response received from all those wonderful people who most kindly supported us by donating or purchasing plants. To all these devoted supporters we express our most sincere and grateful thanks. Despite these years of austerity and financial restraint, it was evident a strong desire exists to support our beautiful church and its ancient wealth of history. Briefly dashing back to gifts of plants, we welcome these with open arms for not only do they broaden the choice, but also provide added interest. Stella and John Alderton, Olivia and Herbert Godbold and Diana Johnson appear to find us plants from their patches like a conjuror pulling rabbits out of a hat. Also, of course, we happily receive in either large or small quantities! I must also thank Valerie Mather and her most excellent kitchen team for being such excellent neighbours, and to Heather and Peter Hart for frequent top-ups of liquid refreshments.
Thursday 18th July 7.30pm In the Church Guests £5 Includes refreshments 8
To conclude, Barry and I were delighted to hand the church £145.50 proceeds from the sale, a most welcome addition to the church income! Dennis R Page Bramford Fun Day is on Saturday 6 July. We will be there and look forward to your magnificent support once again.

OUT & ABOUT BRAMFORD WI Our next meeting will be a very special one as we will be celebrating our centenary. An afternoon tea party at Helmingham Hall has been arranged on Monday, July 8 from 1.30-5pm, with a stroll around the walled garden, herb garden, plant sales and gift shop included. This will be followed by a vintage tea party. We are also able to visit the local church. There will be no charge. This event is only for Bramford WI members. The windmill pictured here was built by members of Bramford WI in the garden of the Bramford Cock to commemorate the centenary of Suffolk East Federation of WIs which coincides with our own. It was inspired by their logo and was built using old plastic milk cartons to help highlight the use of plastic nowadays. This is one of the many which will form a windmill trail of the WIs in East Suffolk so keep your eyes peeled.
BRAMFORD LOCAL HISTORY GROUP This is a special month for us as we have just finished our 25th season. As a special treat we have a special speaker – Charlie Haylock. Charlie is famous for his Suffolk dialect and he’s going to tell us all about the origins of the English language. It’s going to be an interesting, informative and entertaining evening and will be open to non-members. This talk is on Thursday 18 July in St Mary’s Church which will be open at 7pm for a prompt start at 7.30pm. Entry for non-members is £5, but there will be free refreshments and a raffle. Don’t miss this special evening with the one and only Charlie On the Huh Haylock.
GREAT BLAKENHAM CRAFT CLUB The club is open to anyone living in Great Blakenham and the surrounding area. We meet in Great Blakenham Parish Room from 2-4pm every Monday from February to December (other than bank holidays). Our Summer Sewing workshop in June involved making picnic table and plant pot mats and coasters. Our July project is A Bit of Bling.

RIVER GIPPING TRUST It’s that time of year when Himalayan Balsam starts appearing along the River Gipping. Himalayan Balsam is a non-native, invasive plant species which grows so quickly that it crowds out native wildflowers. Clearing Himalayan Balsam benefits both native plants and animals. Its stems are easy to pull out and leave the ground with a very pleasing ‘pop’ which makes it a fun family activity. We are seeking volunteers both young and old to help remove the plants along the river before it has a chance to go to seed. Volunteers are being asked to take just five minutes out of their walk to pull up the stems, snap off the root and stomp down on it to speed up the rotting process. It has reddish stems and pink-purple flowers. Our volunteers have already removed thousands this year, but there are millions left! For a free information pack and free gloves visit: www.waterways.org.uk/himalayanbalsam Later into July and August the trust is planning a major restoration project at Pipps Ford lock. To complete the lock structure, ready for lock gates, we need to install a temporary steel piling just in front and just behind the lock so that we can pump out all the water in the lock between the two steel pilings. We need the lock empty to make provision for the easy installation and removal of stop planks so the Environment Agency can better manage the river levels and flows. The trust has installed stop plank facilities at each of the four locks between Needham Market and Baylham. Pipps Ford is the only lock in this stretch of the river that has no flow control facility. You’ll find work progress photos and more information on Himalayan Balsam on our Facebook page.
SOMERSHAM WOMEN’S INSTITUTE We’ve had a busy few months at Somersham WI. In April we had a fascinating talk from Alan Seager, a beekeeper from Baylham. Some really useful advice was around swarms of honeybees in our gardens – firstly, they’ll probably go in a few hours, but if not then contact someone from Suffolk Beekeepers’ Association who will collect the swarm for you. In May we listened to Brian Heard who worked in police forensics during the 1960s and 70s and had such good tales about crime fighting in those days. It was quite grisly at times, but we did find ourselves laughing at many of his stories. Did you pop into the Somersham WI cake and craft stall at Wheelie Fun Day? We had a steady stream of visitors all day and hope you enjoyed our homemade cakes and other goodies. Speaking of handmade creations, those of you visiting the village hall over the summer will notice a large windmill model in the main entrance. We are taking part in the Suffolk East Federation of WIs centenary windmill trail; keep an eye out across Suffolk for windmills dotted around the county. Ours is based on the need to ‘reuse and recycle’. We obviously have a talented group of WI ladies as we are also now the current holders of the Millbrook Group Rose Bowl Trophy thanks to Pat Woolhouse’s winning Limerick at the Millbrook meeting of local WIs in May. Maybe we’ll publish it next time! The next meeting on 15 July is a birds of prey visit – we have to wait until the day before to find out if the birds will be flying, but we are really looking forward to this meeting. We have August off, so will be back on 16 September with Zelda from Viking Stained Glass in Needham Market. Guests are more than welcome at our meetings for only £4, which includes a cuppa. WI membership is available throughout the year, so do pop along and see what we are up to. www.somershamwi.wordpress.com www.facebook.com/SomershamWI

INDEPENDANT AGE – A completely impartial charity offering help and support to the elderly Whatever happens as we get older, we all want to remain independent and live life on our own terms. Independent Age, as its name suggests, is an independent charity set-up to support and advise elderly people with many issues that affect them as they grow older. That’s why, as well as offering regular friendly contact and a strong campaigning voice, Independent Age can provide you and your family with clear, free and impartial advice on the issues that matter: care and support, money and benefits, health and mobility, etc. A charity founded over 150 years ago, we’re independent so you can be. Loneliness is a major issue facing our communities and having someone to catch up with regularly for a chat can make an enormous difference to someone who feels lonely. A regular telephone call or visit from one of our friendly volunteers can make all the difference – even if you only need it for a short time. It gives you the chance to have a regular chat with someone friendly and trustworthy. Our volunteers are people who enjoy listening, talking, and getting to know people. They are trained by Independent Age and have all the checks you would expect. Some people receive regular phone calls and some receive visits at home. If you feel you can benefit from this, the first step is to call Independent Age. We will discuss needs and preferences, and then together we will work out what would work best for you. In addition to the befriending services, we have an extensive library of printed guides that are all available free by calling our freephone helpline. These guides cover a very wide range of topics including money (scams, debt, pensions), housing options (staying safe at home, types of housing, security), health, bereavement, caring for others and driving. Call our freephone Helpline on 0800 319 6789 if you would like to order a guide, obtain advice or would like to discuss receiving regular friendship calls or visits. All advice is free and our advice and information services are completely impartial. We do not sell products or services and we do not receive a payment from any organisation for recommending their products or services. www.independentage.org

BRAMFORD PRIMARY SCHOOL Bramford Primary School has been working alongside Buglife to promote an environment for our all- important pollinators. In October 2018 a large area of the playing field was excavated along Cock Alley and school children scattered seeds and planted plant plugs to provide a home for these creatures to feed and pollinate. We have been monitoring the area closely and are pleased to share our success with you, a beautiful wildflower swathe, full of colour and wildlife. It has been a successful project and we look forward to it continuing for many years to come. We will be using the area for many curriculum based projects and will continue to learn from all it brings to the school. We invite you to stroll down the alley and see it for yourselves. You don’t need to access the school to see it, but don’t wait too long as they will begin to fade! We challenge you to create an area in your garden for the bees; they need all the help they can get!
CLAYDON HIGH SCHOOL As another incredibly busy academic year nears its end, there is just time to catch up on what has been happening and what we can look forward to in the last few weeks of term. Year 11 students have now left school and while it is sad to see them go, I am very proud of their successes and achievements, both personal and academic, over the last five years and I wish them all the very best for the future. Students have enjoyed trips to the University of Suffolk for careers and taster days. Food and Business students participated in the Food and Farming Fair at Hollow Trees Farm, where, supported by more than 50 farming professionals, they had the chance to explore this industry as a career choice. Language students visited Cambridge University to experience university-style language teaching in French and Spanish. Duke of Edinburgh students completed their qualifying expedition for the Bronze Award and we have had two overseas trips, one to the Battlefields of Belgium and France and the other to Poland to visit Auschwitz and Birkenau, both very poignant trips, particularly as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Landings. The arts faculty has been particularly busy this term as staff are preparing for the GCSE Art, Textiles and Design Technology Exhibition. Practice is underway for field and track events ahead of sports day and drama and music rooms are buzzing with the sound of students rehearsing for the upcoming production of Schools Will Rock You on July 9 and 10. We look forward to updating you with more news of this in the next edition; tickets are now on sale from our school reception. We still have many events, such as the Community Tea Party, Praise Tea Party, Year 5 Arts Festival, Year 6 Induction Day and Sports Award Evening to look forward to before we break up. The PTA have also organised a Quiz Night on 4 July, 7-9pm at the school. Please do join us, your support at these events is greatly appreciated. If you would like to visit the school and see us in action, please telephone my PA, Ms J Saunders on 01473 836110 to book a place on one of our open mornings in the autumn term. Headteacher Ms M Taylor
CLAYDON PRE-SCHOOL We can’t believe this school year is nearly finished. There has been lots of work getting the children who are leaving us ready for their new venture to ‘big’ school. We will be sorry to see them go. In the meantime, all the children are enjoying being in the garden and watching all the fruit and vegetables continue to grow as well as being able to enjoy some of these at snack time. Summer Fete: Saturday 29 June, 11am-2pm Everyone is welcome to come along and join in the fun at our annual summer fete. There will be lots to do and see including a magic show and balloon modelling from Mr Bean Entertainments. We hope to see you there. As we are open throughout each of the school holidays, we have the option to take children up to five for additional sessions during these weeks, subject to availability. If you would like to book days during the summer holidays (25 July to 3 September), please contact the administration assistant for more details. Don’t forget that from September 2017 the government introduced an additional 15 hours funding for working parents of three and four year olds. You can check your eligibility at Childcare Choices and also register for the childcare vouchers scheme. If you would like an application form or any further information please contact Lisa Read: 01473 831648 / admin@claydonpreschool.co.uk Claydon Pre-school, Old Scout Hut, Thornhill Road, Claydon IP6 0DZ

SPORT BRAMFORD BOWLS CLUB We are well into the season now and are having some good results in the leagues. At the time of writing the A team are second in the Ipswich & District Federation 2-wood League, the C team third and the D team second. Excellent results so far. The Norton Cup was played on 26 May against California BC. On this occasion we were out-bowled, losing 28-48 over the two rinks. We progressed through the first round of the BE Bert Edwards competition against Margaret Catchpole BC and played Boxford BC in the second round on 1 June. This was a fascinating game and the rink of Allen Tredray, David Thompson, Brendon Keagan and Maurice Woollard really put on a show to win by 29 shots to 15. Well done the lads. The next round will be on a neutral green against Felixstowe & Suffolk on 22 June. In the Millennium Trophy our men played East Bergholt on 2 June. Despite losing the 4-wood singles and the pairs they came out winners having won the 2-wood singles, triples and fours. A good result. The Quinton Bowl was played on 9 June against Beccles BC. This proved to be an exciting game and everybody played their hearts out to the delight of the spectators. The total scores at the end of the game were 94 shots for 78 against. This was a most impressive win against a very strong team which included several Middleton Cup players. The rink of Mike O’Shea, Les King, John Sharman and Jason Smith won their rink with an impressive score of 32-13. Onwards and upwards lads! The following have reached the quarter-final stages in the BE County Competitions: • Jason Smith in the men’s 4-wood Singles • Sue Keeble & Julie Witham and Rachelle Barber & Stella Utteridge in the ladies pairs and Jo Whiting, Sue Keeble & Julie Witham in the ladies triples The following have reached the Federation Area semi-final stages: • Lucy Ratcliffe &Mary Saunders in the pairs • Ann Thaine & Mary Saunders in the senior pairs • Ann Thaine, Mary Saunders & Lucy Ratcliffe in the 3-wood triples area final Let’s hope the weather warms up soon – it’s supposed to be flaming June after all! SPROUGHTON BOWLS CLUB By the time you read this the league season will be very nearly finished. Unfortunately, at the time of writing this doesn’t look to be one of our finest seasons for results! We have had some success in the cups so hopefully the next report will be filled with news of silverware and a resurgence in league form. The club has just hosted our annual President’s Charity Day tournament which was keenly contested (despite the best efforts of the weather) by more than 25 sets of bowlers and eventually won by the pairing of Di Roper and Erik Wicko. President Mick Jones’ nominated charity, St Elizabeth Hospice, will benefit from in excess of £800 raised on the day. Many thanks to everyone who contributed.

As I write it is the beginning of June, so this has only just been announced. I hope that we will have the chance to celebrate together before I go, and am planning a party. Please keep your eyes open for dates and times. We will try to make sure that as many of you find out as possible. Just a few useless statistics; during that time I have done over 200 funerals, around 60 weddings, and around 80 baptisms, I have taken nearly 900 church services, not including funerals weddings and baptisms, and written the sermons to go with them, as well as school assemblies and more meetings than are strictly necessary. It has been a real joy getting to know the different communities and travelling with you over this time. My prayers will be with you as you start to look for someone to come and minister alongside you. This is not a particularly quick process, and there are some legalities to go through, so I would ask you to be patient with the churches, I know that they would appreciate any support you can give them during this time, including attending services and fundraising events. I look forward to seeing you before I leave, and will be letting you all know the dates of my final service here and licensing in the new parishes.
