Tina Klinesmith (T.J. Kline) Tina Klinesmith (T.J. Kline) found she had a love for stories at the ripe age of 2 when her mother found her trying to read a romance novel. Kathie Isacc-Luke Kathie Issac-Luke lived in San Jose for a number of years, where she was program director for Poetry Center San Jose and editor of the journal, caesura. Her poetry appears in numerous journals and anthologies. Her poetry collection, Chrysalides, published by Dragonfly Press, was selected as runner-up at the 2014 Los Angeles Book Festival. Kathie’s short fiction appears in The Call: An Anthology of Women’s Writing, published by Dragonfly Press. Her short story, “The Collection,” was nominated for a 2010 Pushcart prize. Roh Morgon Roh Morgon discovered the magic of stories at an early age—those in books as well as the ones she made up in her head. Her fascination with other worlds led to an interest in costuming and renaissance faires, where she learned how to handle swords, knives, and bows. She now writes fantasy for middle grade readers and paranormal romance with a twist of horror for young adults and adults. Linda Knoll Linda Knoll believes seasonal fruits, vegetables, and other produce from local farms

Ryan Goldsberry As a young boy, Ryan Goldsberry spent most of his time drawing portraits of his favorites, the Ninja Turtles, Star Wars and of course, Mr. T (google him). Now that he’s old, he’s found that the subjects of his drawings really haven’t changed all that much. At some point he also realized that he needed a respectable job so he works as an animator making video games. Most recently he worked on Tomb Raider. That’s right! He got to make everybody’s favorite video game heroine move, walk and talk! Ryan has a wife and five kids, which technically, makes him insane. Rick Goldsberry Rick Goldsberry loves kids, stories, and humor— not necessarily in that order. He has written jokes for comedians, radio programs, and nationally syndicated cartoonists and at one time was a syndicated cartoonist himself. He is mesmerized by stories, he loves to read them and write them. Rick has done extensive field work in childology. Kids and teenagers—two different species—surround him. He has substitutetaught kids in all grades; he hires teenagers at his fast food restaurant; and he has six kids of his own. He can’t get enough of kids—until he collapses in bed at night.
Lauren Talbot Lauren Talbot was raised in New Jersey and studied at the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. She is both a Certified Clinical Nutritionist from the Natural Healing Institute in Encinitas, and studied closely with celebrity nutritionist, Natalia Rose of “The Raw Food Detox Diet”. She has been a student of nutrition for over a decade and is now married with three step-kiddos, and a thriving private practice in Dallas. Moris Senegor, M.D. Moris Senegor, M.D., is a neurosurgeon who has practiced in the Central Valley of Northern California for more than twenty years. Born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey,

At the University of Chicago he earned both his undergraduate and medical school degrees, and began a residency in neurosurgery under Sean Mullan, M.D. Dr. Senegor spent part of his six-year neurosurgical training in San Francisco, where he completed a six-month rotation at the University of California, San Francisco under Charles Wilson, M.D., then the chairman of neurosurgery. Dr. Senegor has performed more than eight thousand neurosurgical procedures involving brain, spine and peripheral nerve surgery.
Frances Purnell Dampier Frances Purnell Dampier was born in Winona, Mississippi and grew up in the small town of Greenwood, Mississippi. She is presently a retired educator after thirty-nine years of service. Frances taught English at Sunnyvale Middle School for over twenty years and was honored as Teacher of the Year. She later became Assistant Principal and Principal in the Sunnyvale School District and in 2009 became Management Team Member of the Year. As the Principal of Sunnyvale Middle School, Frances was appointed as ACSA’s Middle School Representative for the State of California. Frances also served as the Principal of Bishop Elementary School in Sunnyvale, California for seven years. Frances acquired her Bachelor of Science Degree at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi and her Master’s Degree in Administrative Services at La Verne University in California. Frances is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, LinkedIn, NAACP, National Professional Women Association and the Tracy Community Church.
Matthew Berlin Matthew Berlin is a sixteen-year old independent author who enjoys writing Action/Adventure and Fantasy novels. He began writing Embark, the first book in the Legends of Lustria series at 14, and self-published the completed novel at 16. Matt is currently writing Prevalence, which is the second book in the series. Matthew is also co- writing a book with a friend and fellow author. Matthew is very fond of fantasy, and was inspired to write Legends of Lustria after enjoying successful franchises such as The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and a variety of others. Pamela Atherstone Pamela Atherstone never set out to write a book. Selected as Rebecca’s Reads Choice Awards Fiction Book of the Year 2013, and first place Historical Fiction, this award winning venture came as a result of being forced into disability retirement. Needing something to keep her busy during a life-changing transition, she soon found the Modesto Institute of Continued Learning (MICL) at Modesto Junior College, and the Writer’s Workshop offered in the curriculum. As the greatgranddaughter of German-Russian immigrants, and an amateur genealogist focusing on Russians of German heritage, she soon found herself writing “…Like Footprints in the Wind.” This is a fictional tale about the real experiences of the people of German heritage living in Russia just prior to WWII. Few people know about the “Purge of the Kulaks” by Stalin’s armies. She feels the importance of introducing non-GermanRussians to this saga is through fiction. A mother and grandmother, Pam is a lifelong Californian, and has lived in Modesto for nearly 40 years with her husband, Jim, and her horses and dogs. She is currently working on a sequel.

Meet The Authors is known as Trevis by his friends, enjoys playing basketball and football. In fact, he was awarded defensive player of the year! In addition to sports, T.J. is both an honor student and a member of the Gifted and Talented Program known as G.A.T.E at his school. T.J. has a gift for writing. Whenever he gets a moment, he sits down and composes short stories. His grandmother who is an author loved his stories and encouraged him to keep writing. The Illegal Child is his first in a series of published work. T.J. has a loving family consisting of his father, mother, two sisters and a brother and a host of relatives.
John Brantingham John Brantingham’s work has been featured on Garrison Keillor’s Writer’s Almanac, and he has had hundreds of poems published in magazines in the United States and England. His newest poetry collection, The Green of Sunset, is from Moon Tide Press. He is the writer-inresidence at the dA Center for the Arts.
Robert Reinarts Robert Reinarts is founder and coordinator of the Heritage Writers Community, with the goal of providing a nurturing community for the creation of literary products and to establish and operate a variety of platforms for this community to present their work to the public. Robert has worked as a mathematician, computer analyst and programmer, management consultant, educator and business owner. His most important Civil War novel “Charon’s Daughter” was recently published through Amazon, available in “e-book” format. This self-published novel was awarded the first prize winner by the prestigious San Francisco Writers Conference of 2014. Robert currently serves as an Ombudsman, County Commissioner, advocate for seniors, and member of the Community Action Board. Robert lives in Stockton with his wife and dog.
Ethel Brennan Ethel Brennan is a writer and photography stylist. When she was a child, she and her family lived in Provence, where her parents owned a goat cheese farm. Although her family returned to California while she was still young, most of her childhood summers were spent traveling in France from Paris to the rustic countryside of Provence where her parents kept the farmhouse. She is now based in San Francisco and travels frequently to France with her twin boys and French husband. She is the author of Herbes de Provence, Baby Gifts and coauthor of Citrus, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Goat Cheese, A Children’s Kitchen Garden and At the Farmers’ Market with Kids.
Robin Burcell Robin Burcell, an FBItrained forensic artist, has worked as a police officer, detective, hostage negotiator, and criminal investigator for nearly three decades. Michael Burwen Michael Burwen, although raised in New England, has lived in California for decades. A retired high-tech industry consultant, he is an avowed foodie and lifelong amateur cook. He traveled the world for 40+ years, collecting recipes (bribing chefs and waiters) that form the core of his cookbook, Easy Gourmet Recipes for the Frugal Cook.
Jennie Chadwick Jennie Chadwick has been writing seriously for about 5 years. It all started when she used to make up funny stories for her two girls when they were little. As her girls got older they said she should write these silly stories down, for other kids. So one day she did! Her kids books are action/ adventure for six to ten year olds. Jennie has received unique acknowledgements from bookstores and schools, where she held book signings. The kids always seem to gravitate to her silly readings! Jennie says, “I love watching and working with kids, they help me keep the silliness in my grown up life. Laughing and playing, that’s a kids job! My job is to write books that kids like and can relate to.” Jennie grew up and makes her home in Modesto, CA.
Shawnie Clark Shawnie Clark knows writing has always had a place in her life. At a young age, she wrote stories about her hopes and dreams. As she reached young adulthood she continued to write with a little more focus, writing various articles for newspapers and magazines. As Shawnie raised her children, all five, they inspired her to write children’s stories and poetry. She’s had some poems published in anthologies (book of poems by various writers), and over the years she has continued writing articles for online magazines and websites. Claudia Hagen Claudia Hagen’s Hanford’s Secret Clouds of Despair is the third nonfiction book by this local author and Our Grandma Flies A Hot Air Balloon is her first children’s book. The Night A Fortress Fell To Fairfield, and The Mystic High Adventures of Fannie Flame & Crew, were her first published works along with numerous medical and aviation related articles. James Neal Harvey James Neal Harvey, a Syracuse University graduate, has written for TV, newspapers, and magazines, and is the author of eight books. He’s also played trumpet on tour with a jazz band, and served in the US Merchant Marine. He’d studied abnormal psychology in college and has long had an interest in the criminal mind. Throughout his advertising career he freelanced crime stories in magazines such as True and Men’s Adventure, and while still running his agency began writing crime novels. Karen is also a Christian fiction author (Anessia’s Quest and Raider’s Vendetta) who writes about real-life conflict and struggles. Her stories do not sugar-coat the trials that humanity must endure, whether it is abuse, abandonment, addictions or the need to discover the purpose of life. Mrs. Arnpriester resides in Manteca, California, and is a wife, mother, grandmother and adoptive mother of her two daughters. Amy Elizabeth Smith Amy Elizabeth Smith, originally from western Pennsylvania, teaches professional writing, creative writing, and literature at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. She has an undergraduate degree in Music from West Virginia University and a Masters and Ph.D. in English from Penn State. This summer she published a nonfiction travel memoir entitled All Roads Lead to Austen: A Year’s Journey with Jane. Maya Torngren Maya Torngren, author of Maya: The Story of a German War Bride is the life story of a German girl growing up in Germany during Hitler’s regime. She spent the night of her fifteenth birthday huddled in the basement with her family as her home town of Augsburg suffered its largest air raid of the war, during the coldest night of that year. Life was very interesting for the teenager after the war ended and the American troops entered the city, bringing with them the Big Band Sound. Five years after the war, she met and married an American soldier. Moving to America was just the beginning of many different experiences that awaited her. When the couple had four children, aged thirteen, twelve, nine, and six, they left the U.S. to embark on an elevenmonth, once-in-a-lifetime trip to Africa, the Canary Islands, and Europe. Paula Treick DeBoard Paula Treick DeBoard lives, teaches, and writes in Northern California, although her fiction often takes her to out-of-the-way places, real and imagined. Ken White Ken White recently retired from the worlds of advertising, corporate communications, and interactive entertainment to concentrate on writing and community service. He received his A.A. degree at Modesto Junior College, his B.A. and teaching credential at UC Davis, and his M.A. at San Francisco State University. He has taught mass communications and film appreciation at Modesto Junior College. Born in Lathrop and raised in Modesto, he continues to live in his home town.
