At the start of lockdown our team was overwhelmed with requests from schools and
parents for bilingual help. Many parents worried about being able to support their children at home, as they felt their English wasn't good enough. One of the positives of lockdown
for our bilingual children was that they had this chance to practise and improve their home languages with their parents. We decided to help them celebrate that and give families a reason to work together bilingually.
Many of the poems in this book were written by children with help from their parents. All our support was online during this time, meaning that parents and children also had to learn new IT skills.

My house is as big as a castle. Always nice, always tidy.
My dog, Paka, is a little soft angel.
Sometimes playful sometimes noisy. My family is a super team which supports each other.
Never leave me behind, Never make me cry.

Green juicy grass, wild as a jungle,
Zielona, soczysta trawa,
A round rock as sharp as a dinosaur’s teeth
Kwitnący kwiatek, kolorowy jak tęcza,
With strong green bushes
Wysokie drzewo, tak wielkie jak mój dom,
A silvery silent swing, big and cosy,
Domek dla małych ptaszków,
A bright bird, singing lovely songs
Obślizgły ślimak, gładki jak szkło,
A terrific trampoline, jumpy and springy,
Niewinny insekt, brzęczący szczęśliwie dookoła,
Lavish flower as colourful as a rainbow,
Dzika jak dżungla,
A tall tree as big as my house,
Okrągły kamyk, ostry jak ząb dinozaura,
A homely place for little birds,
Z ogromnymi, zielonymi gałęziami,
A slimy slug, smooth as a glass,
Srebna, cicha huśtawka, duża i wygodna,
An innocent insect, buzzing happily around,
Jasny ptak, śpiewający cudowne piosenki,
A fierce fence, reaching sky.
Ogromna trampolina, skacząca i sprężysta, Olbrzymi płot, sięgający nieba.

Is big and warm and smells like strawberry cake.
Mój dom jest duzy,
When I look at him I feel happy.
Pachnie jak ciasto z truskawkami.
and my family is our treasure.
We are not even afraid of storms and winds
a rodzina to nasz skarb.
I feel safe in my home.
Ciepły i wspaniały,
My home is our heaven on earth
W moim domu czuję się bezpiecznie.
This is my house as colourful as a spring meadow
Moj dom to nasze niebo na ziemi
Because our home is as strong as our family.

Precious family moments, surrounded with love
Outstanding nature - high mountains and salty sea, Laughing children - cycling on their bikes through the wide countryside,
Adorable little cousins chasing you every day wanting to play
Nice neighbours shouting across the fence, “Come and play with us,”
Dreams about happy moments
When will they happen again?

I like my house a lot. It is big and beautiful. A lot of people live. It makes my life happy.
Everyone has their home. The bird is in the nest.
The caterpillar is on the leaf. It’s mine is beautiful. The turtle and the snail, take home where they go. And I take my heart.
Each house is different, whether big or small.
Everyone who comes in it, live happy and content. No matter your yellow or blue or green colour The important thing is love.
I like my mother, my father, my brother
Because in this house there lives so many people People of my heart.

My house is surrounded by greenery
Casa mea e ȋnconjurată de verdeață
It is the dearest place in the whole world
It is my house from another country
E casa mea din altă țară
A place where there’s always a little dog.
Acolo este veșnic un cățel.
This house is always welcoming
Ea e mereu o casă primitoare
And it is built by my parents
E construită de părinții mei
It is as pretty as a flower
Și e frumoasă ca o floare
And it is there where I feel at home.
Acolo eu mă simt ȋn largul meu. 13

In the city,
It’s dizzy labyrinth
In a road, long and busy
Lay a house, your house, your home In this house, nice and cosy Lay you and your family, Nice and peace
This is the rhythm of a little house
With its family silent like a mouse.

I really miss:
Naprawdę tęsknię za:
the grassy garden green as fresh leaves,
trawiastym ogródem zielonym jak świeże liście,
fresh delicious cakes,
pyszne ciasta,
very squishy sofa, soft as a pillow,
bardzo miękką sofa, miękką jak poduszka,
I hope I will see them soon.
Mam nadzieję, że wkrótce je zobaczę.
my golden grandmother, sweet as honey,
moją złota babcią, słodką jak miód,
the old oven that bakes
starym piekarnikem, który piecze świeże,
the quick quad bike, fast as a flash,
szybkim quadem, szybkim jak błysk,
the cheesy chicken yellow as a lemon.
serowymi kurczakami żółtymi jak cytryna…

This is my home, this is my place!
I love our home! It’s warm and wonderful!
At dinner sometimes we play music. My mother cleans and sings. Dad fixes something, again!
There are also magic fairies in the house who have magic divisions.
They help me with my lessons and cleaning and when they go to sleep They sometimes sing,
There are many surprises in our house and they last for a whole year. I love this house the most in the world and you will never take it away from me!
To jest mój Dom.
To jest moje miejsce. Kocham nasz Dom!
Jest ciepły i cudowny!
Podczas obiadu- czasami- gra nam muzyka. Moja mama sprząta i śpiewa.
One pomagają mi w odrabianiu lekcji i sprzątaniu a kiedy idą spać czasami śpiewają. 17

A place that appeared to be a dream
In which the sun created a place of peace
The flowers seemed to be from paradise
Iar casa mă păzea de toate.
My house protected me from everything.
Multi oameni mult s-au necăjit
Many people lived their lives in sorrow
One by one abandoning their homes
Fugind încet, încet de-acasă,
Yet I, for one, will always love you
Dar eu mereu te voi iubi,
Moldova mea, iubită casă.
My Moldova, my beloved home.
Eu pot să zic că “Paradis”
I could say that “Paradise”
Is that one place you can call home
E locul care îl poți numi tu casă,
No matter where I’d be, I know
Oriunde-aș fi eu știu că pot găsi
I’ll always find a place to call my home.
Ceva ce pot numi tot casă.

I am standing in the light but I feel blind.
I’ve been put in this hell which I have to call life. If they only knew what life was really like
I am sure they wouldn’t have wanted to even be born.
I miss you, I miss you
When I close my eyes I can see you cry.
But I will make you right with me in your heart. Although your child has left you in person I am here still with you
through the pain that I feel
I miss you and without you I am hopeless.

Tell the Corona to manage her life.
Spreading fears throughout the country;
The world stood up to you and melting with its fear; All countries in the East and West were disrupted;
China has silent fear, and creatures been trembled; Where to go? Or where to escape from that pest; Paris where is the science where is the progress; Rome shouts who answers her;
The pandemic roamed our country
in the Kaaba of God, and its people;
Even our small mosques were evacuated,
their minarets mourned, and their men were absent; Even our playgrounds were suspended,
And the earth appears in the roundabout paralyse it, And the airplanes stopped despite them, And people live in fear in spite of it,
Today it appears to the sleepers that, They are nothing, life is for its Lord.
