ADVANCES IN CANINE MITRAL VALVE DISEASE September 23rd -24 th, 2011 • Palazzo Trecchi, Cremona (I) OBJECTIVES Chronic degenerative mitral valve disease represents the most common acquired cardiovascular diseases in the dog. The disease share many common aspects with mitral valve prolapse due to myxomatous degeneration in human beings and therefore it is of particular importance for comparative medicine. This seminar is aimed to present and discuss the most updated knowledge on physiopathology, natural history, echocardiographic evaluation and current treatment options for chronic degenerative mitral valve disease in the dog. An interactive section at the end of the seminar will include clinical cases illustrative of sections discussed. This seminar is aimed to veterinarians with cardiology training.
