According to U.S. News and World Report of the 50 states Georgia ranks 30th in health care, we rank 26th in education, and 29th in crime and corrections.
The Georgia Department of Revenue indicates that the state will once again run a surplus. Leaving it with a record level of cash on hand and a full “Rainy Day” savings account. After the Rainy Day account is filled with funds as mandated. The law calls for the cash to go into a separate account of unobligated money to be used at the state government’s discretion.

Is There No Balm In Georgia?
The expression “putting your money where your mouth is” is a great indicator of the priorities of the people charged with running our state. With these low rankings and our leaders desire to do nothing about them it must be true that there is no balm in Georgia?
Is there no balm to pay teachers a living salary? Is there no balm to pay our first responders more and train them better?
I know that money does not solve problems. However, with our rankings in the lower third of these important categories, it must be asked “Is There No Balm In Georgia?”
