Limestone Flooring Patterns Limestone is a unique and versatile natural stone that is ideal for flooring in your home and should not be overlooked when it comes to renovating. Limestone tiles come in a range of colours and finishes and when used in conjunction with each other can turn your floor into an array of beautiful patterns. You can create patterns with limestone by using different sized and coloured tiles. At Marble Matters, we stock a wide variety of limestone tiles so you can achieve the perfect look for your home flooring. This post is dedicated to taking a look at some of the exciting patterns and designs out there to hopefully give you some ideas when it comes time to designing your limestone tile masterpiece.
Using Small And Large Tiles When tiling your floor with limestone try using different sized tiles to add variation. Mix it up a bit! Create a pattern using three different size tiles, then replicate the model continuously until the whole floor is eventually covered. This will add a unique dynamic and dimension to your floor. There are no set rules in this technique – all you have to do is make sure you’re happy with the initial design before proceeding to cover the whole floor. Once the tiles are set in place, it’s a difficult job to rearrange them. When designing your pattern be mindful of the pattern’s ability to tessellate with other tiles, so you don’t end up with unsightly gaps.
Colour, Colour, Colour Limestone tiles come in a variety of colours, and a DIY artistically-minded person will revel in the challenge to utilise multiple colours to make beautiful patterns. Firstly, decided on the finish. There are a number of different finishes and it’s best to use the same finish throughout the entire room. That being said, it’s not set in concrete. If you can make the use of multiple finishes look amazing, then do it! Some finishes will go better paired with others as will the different colours. One colour will usually dominate the design and cover most of the floor. Choose a colour that you find appealing, then use different colour tiles sporadically to add flair and texture. Again, don’t be afraid to experiment and have fun with it.
Different Types Of Patterns •
There are many kinds of patterns on the internet to take inspiration from or mimic entirely. • The basic brickwork pattern is simple yet effective and works well in the kitchen. Try using the brickwork pattern and every now and again splash in some colour by using a different shade of limestone tile. • Another pattern is using a large tile as the centrepiece and scattering smaller tiles around the outside of a different colour. This effect works great and is a unique and fun solution to your flooring needs. • The old faithful checkerboard pattern looks terrific and is one of our favourites for the bathroom. You’re not necessarily limited to black and white. Try experimenting with different colours and sizes of the tiles. We prefer using big tiles when using this pattern. • It’s all a matter of preference really, so go with your instincts and you can’t go wrong. When you’re ready to embark on your limestone flooring endeavour, don’t be afraid to give us a call, and our friendly staff will help you achieve your dream result.
