MARC BOMBENON’S MENTORSHIP PROGRAM AND LEADERSHIP BITS OF ADVICE

Along with being a business advisor and a successful Chairman of SureCall Contact Center, Bombenon is a mentor and active leadership role model. A part of Marc Bombenon’s coaching work and the most effective tools that power up the coaching process is — Leadership Journal. Marc explains leadership similar to the sport you love to play; when you analyze your moves in the playing field, you learn what works and what does not work and fine-tune along the way. He coaches people on how to improves stress levels, their health, and feeling of well-being by use of journaling. The benefits of his leadership journal are enlargement of self-awareness and effective stress management.

One of the fundamental qualities of a leadership journal is that it drives your emotional intelligence by giving awareness of your strengths, your energizers, what challenges you, what derail you. Emotional intelligence can also be called as a critical driver of leadership success. Another critical quality of a leadership journal is adequate stress management. Your dayto-day work stresses affect the overall well-being of yours. However, journaling about them can be useful to process them, discharge the negative emotions, and eventually enable learning effectively. The combination of our physical and emotional well-being is a crucial driver of energy that we bring to the workplace. The strongest emotion and inspiration we have, the higher is the impact of our work. To uphold an excellent immune system and brain for positive emotion, journals play a significantly important role.

In his coaches mentoring, Marc gives tips for successful journaling practice; his tips include some self-asking questions such as what is present to me now? This is an excellent question to get into present know what is going on at this moment inside you. Initiate with a few deep breaths, close your eyes, and bring awareness to your body. Stretch and release any tension you are feeling. Know your inner self. Observe the emotions that are present. Often, we rush through our day without checking in with ourselves.

Another self-asking question is, what is challenging? What is creating that challenge? Concentrating on what needs to be improved for learning and growth rather than what went well. We often initiate by blaming — others, ourselves, or circumstances when we find some challenges. Acceptable — a perfect human nature! Though, you can start by looking deeper within yourself. Know beliefs, attitudes, or actions you contribute, when some challenging you found? This enthusiastic process of holding responsibilities is a crucial driver to feel empowered as a lead instead of a victim of circumstance. Besides, it allows you to try out various other ways of effective leadership in management.

On the side of mentorship, Marc has one key to a truly successful mentorship relationship that is building a sense of accountability early on. Establishing accountability from the beginning will help both parties in the mentorship relationship to benefit from the exchange actively. Often, mentorships end up fizzling out because the mentor provides advice, connections, etc. to a protégé who does not understand that they must be an active member of the partnership. One of the first things that a new mentor should do is have an active discussion about accountability with their protégé and create an outline of what accountability will look like moving forward.
