Purpose 2: vase design
This project explores the design aspect of parametric process. Using equilateral triangles made of metal wires, a hexagon is created. The structure itself was inspired by natural habitats that uses triangles to construct similar forms. For examples, beehives. The triangular shapes which made up each of the hexagon section utilises the structure, sustain the strength of the whole structure. The project also discovers the possibility of multi-functionality of the sculpture in order to assign roles that is more than just ornamental purpose. In purpose 1, the design of the lamp gains the element of lght.by adding paper to each of the triangular unit, a new look and meaning has been added to the sculpture. Purpose 2, on another hand, expand the purpose of the sculpture based on its own 5

The Challenge
Software used: Revit Architecture 2013 December 2013 February 2014
The purpose of this project is to provide solutions to today’s land use crisis in urban areas. This project involves an architecture design for a space/area challenging dwelling: A case was presented on the Japanese reality show “Before & After Extreme Home Makeover”. The design resolved the spacial issue by eliminating the walls between rooms, making the purpose of originally isolated rooms ambiguous. As a result, rooms would share serving roles and swap between functions according to the owner’s need. Secondly, In order to widen the visual space view, the hypotenuse wall was replaced with clear glass. This allowed for wider and farther view sight, which greatly reduced the oppression caused by the angle.

Sculpture coexisting
Materials used: wax, plaster, plastics, silicon, tree branches, fruit seeds. Spring 2013, Fine 228, University of Waterloo 12
The purpose of the coevolve project is to create multiple casting replicas of a random object using materials that differ in texture, appearance and colours. The replicas will then be used to create a sculpture which can either add additional, inverse or irrelevant meaning to the original object. In this case, 13 copies of a sea shell had been casted in plasters, plastics (three colours) and wax. Replicas were assembled with the tree branches to create an unique form. The branches functions as a host, making it seems as if the sea shells were opening up and blooming. Thus a sense of vitality can be delivered to the audience. In addition, fruit seeds were added inside the shells to mimic the look of flower bud and pearl. 13

The aim this project is to aesthetically narrate this year’s unusual winter weather in Ontario using the natural elements that originated the storm. This piece tried to capture the essence of the chaotic winter chill. The form is a personal understanding and tangible representation of the disaster, which was invasively outstretching and mercilessly destructive. The hole in the center of the sculpture resembled a storm eye. On another side, the concave shape contradicted the front face, the space is just enough to accommodate one person, implying the adaptivity and resilience of mankind. The material been used for this project was the natural element which had caused the storm. This
