Today, Barbanera stands for a dynamic and modern operation focused on export to Europe and beyond. Initially concentrated only on wines from Tuscany, the growing demand in recent years for wines from other Italian regions such as Puglia and Sicily has led to a broadening of the range of wines offered as well as a constant process of updating the winery’s technology. As a result and complementing Barbanera’s own lines such as Duca di Saragnano and Barbanera itself, the wines and their packaging can now be tailor-made to suit the customer’s needs. As part of the process of targeting new markets and new trade sectors, the company has also achieved certification in the principal organizational quality control systems: ISO, IFS and BRC. The town belongs to the “Buffer Zone” of the UNESCO World Heritage “Vineyard Lands – Langhe-Roero-Monferrato”. It is here that Piedmont growers produce high-quality DOCG wines. The grapes of the cooperative‘s members are evaluated according to a quality system from 5 to 30 points. Thus, the higher the grapes quality, the higher the grapes price. Over the past 10 years, we have consistently focused on low yields and high quality of bottled wines. The investment in the winery has been significant. Currently the winery La Maranzana uses modern equipment for a controlled winemaking process. High-quality red wines are refined and aged in oak barrels combining technology with tradition.

Umberto’s and Bruno’s important job and dedication today, over 40 years after the foundation, is matched by that of their sons who are working side by side with them: Danilo Notarnicola and Pietro Violo. Cinciano is property of Garres who bought the estate in 1983. During the past thirty years, renovations and improvements have been carried out and they still continue today. Cinciano is also renewing its vineyards with Sangiovese 100%, the symbol of the Tuscany in the wine world. The hill stands out in the sun in front of San Gimignano on the opposite side of the valley. It is the last hill at the west border of Chianti Classico. Today, Cinciano extends over an area of 370 acres, 82 of those are vineyards 99 olive trees and the rest is forest. Here, Martina Moreale carries on the project of her husband Roberto, founder of the winery. Day after day, the land diligently cared for offers its best fruits, harvested to create high-quality wines. In Friulian language, the name “Roncal” means a terraced estate on a hill. Our vineyards are favored by an excellent exposure and the sandstone/marl soil ideal for growing grapes. At Il Roncal, the grape harvest is delayed on purpose in order to pick the grapes when they come to their full ripeness. The process is then carried out within the factory cellars, with traditional methods and under controlled temperature. Here, tradition and modernity live together in harmony. That’s why, for example, near the shiny cold steel basins stand the sweet-smelling oak casks, where the wines mature and the fragrance becomes full-blown.

Region: Piedmont La Mesma is a family business meticulously run by the three Rosina sisters: Paola, Francesca and Anna. It is located in Monterotondo (Province of Alessandria) at the very heart of the Gavi DOCG region in Italy. Nestled in the peaceful, green countryside between Piedmont and Liguria, seemingly far from the sea, the region benefits considerably from coastal influences. The estate’s Gavi La Mesma DOCG production relies on 64 acres of Cortese grape vines planted in fine medium-blend soil on southward exposed hillsides at an altitude of about 984 feet. Their aim is to make expressive wines through hard work on the vineyards and minimal intervention in the cellar. La Mesma wines must preserve varietal integrity, vintage and a sense of place. They are exported all over the world. The farm is a currently in organic conversion. Their goal is to ensure a long and healthy life to their vines. La Mesma encourages biodiversity: their vines are pruned with the Simonit and Sirch method. A final selection of grapes is made during picking, prior to soft pressing.

Region: Piedmont Le Ginestre is a winery located in the village of Grinzane Cavour, approximately 4 miles from Alba in the Langhe hills in Piedmont, in northwestern Italy. Grinzane Cavour is one of the only villages in this outstanding wine-growing area where Barolo can be produced. In the XVIII century, during the reign of Emmanuel II, most of the land around Grinzane Castle belonged to Count Camillo Benso of Cavour, the political architect of the Unification of Italy and Mayor of our area for 17 years. When the estate was sold, the land was purchased by local farmers, including our forebears. When Franco Audasso took over this smallholding in 1980, he began to sell his wines with the help of his wife, Giulia Vacchetti. Later their children, Gian Luca and Barbara, started working in the company as well. Over the course of the years the initial property has been extended with the acquisition of other vineyards, that have been partly replanted using the clones that are best suited to the type of soil. Franco takes care of the vineyards; Gian Luca manages the cellars and Giulia and Barbara are responsible for sales.

Region: Tuscany At the Villa Triturris Winery, Luiz Barichello decided to follow the tradition and the selection of the varietals with the valued Sangiovese, and the modern influences with international varieties, Merlot and Cabernet. As pioneer and innovator, he also decided to challenge the territory by planting an entire vineyard with Malbec. The cellar is located at the ground floor of the main house at the center of the amphitheater of vineyards. The space inside is simple and functional, following a philosophy that is not distracted by the large decorations but dedicates all the attention to the production of wine. The modern and practical steel drums sit along the large oak barrels (10 and 50 hectoliters) that give the wine body without creating overly pronounced notes. In these barrels, wines evolve for period of one to three years, then, they rest in the bottle other one to two years.

Region: Apulia Produttori Vini Manduria is the oldest active wine cooperative in Apulia. Nowadays, we manage 2,223 acres of vineyard (mainly Primitivo, the most important vine in Apulia). Most of the vines are grown with the traditional sapling syste, by 400 local farmers called “Maestri in Primitivo” (Masters of Primitivo) due to their deep knowledge of this ancient grape. The wine production mainly consists of the indigenous Primitivo but the winery also grows and produces Negroamaro, black and white Malvasia, and Fiano. Currently, the annual production is around 800,000 bottles. The old tanks of the winery host a rich and important ethnographic and anthropological Museum. Its aim is to illustrate and teach about the millenary relationship between Manduria’s peasantry and the art of making wine. Produttori Vini Manduria is an important stage for Italian and foreign wine lovers, who can visit the winery year-round and take part in guided wine tastings and pairings with typical food of rural tradition.

The unique microclimate that distinguishes this area is a mix of different features: first, the Judrio river that flows at the feet of the hills, then, the Bosco Romagno Nature Reserve in the surroundings and, finally, an exceptional exposure to sunlight. The Eocene marl in the soil, the so-called “ponca”, does the rest, imparting a distinct minerality, intense aromas and a good structure to the wines. Region: Apulia The origins of the Vallone family’s estate can be traced back to the end of the 17th century when, in 1690, Angelo Vallone in 1690 began acquiring land in Terra d’Otranto, the area known nowadays as Salento. Three centuries later, Vincenzo Vallone established the Santi Dimitri brand with the aim of preserving the cultural and entrepreneurial heritage of the old family business by focusing all efforts on quality production and seeking to instill a territorial identity to its products through extensive research and a careful selection of grape varieties. Since 2014 a new generation of the family is honoring the tradition. Recently, the vineyards have been re-zoned to make sure only the best grapes ultimately make it to the bottle. New agricultural protocols have been introduced to finetune production, respect the needs of the vines – in other words “listen” to them and further reduce chemicals in all stages of production. If we learn to “listen to the vine”, in time it will reward our efforts.

Sasso dei Lupi was born in September 2008 as a spin-off of one of the leading cooperative wineries of the area that had been producing bulk and bottled wines since 1967. Nowadays, Sasso dei Lupi counts more than 510 associated vine-growers and its vineyards extend on more than 1,482 acres, mostly located on mild Perugia’s hills. The name Sasso dei Lupi literally means “Wolves’ Rock”; it suggests the wolf as a symbol of uncontaminated woods and landscapes, widely extended on those lands. The wines proposed by Sasso dei Lupi widely represent native grapes as Grechetto, and Sagrantino, as well as international varieties that in Umbria found their perfect environment and expression into fine wines. Apulia has been producing wine for one thousand years and, during the Middle Ages, a considerable production was recorded: no wonder that Dante Alighieri, in his writings, describes Apulia as “a thirsty land where the sun turns into wine.” The importance of wine-growing development was also well understood by Frederick II, although he didn’t drink: he had about a thousand grapevines imported from Campania and planted in the Castel del Monte area. The wine Tufara Donvito hides ancient stories, as its vines are deeply rooted in the history of the land to which Gino Donvito and his daughter Luna are immensely bound: “Time not devoted to Land or Art is time wasted.” By taking care of his vineyard, Donvito not only is a passionate winemaker: he is also the artist waiting for inspiration to conceive a new artwork. He signs his art with an olive branch, sending through every work a message of peace that is, at the same time, the tangible mark of his extraordinary love for Apulia.

Region: Apulia Vespa Vignaioli per Passione is the name by which the company Futura 14 was presented to the Italian and international markets since 2014. Bruno Vespa is a television journalist in love with the wine world since the 70s, when the great Luigi Veronelli teated him to love also the men and the women who were part of this world. From decades Vespa tells the story in his articles and one day decided to become winemaker and create a family estate, together with his sons Alessandro and Federico. The Vespa family owns the beautiful Masseria Li Reni located in Manduria, in Puglia, and has over 25 hectares of land for which a large part already under vine. Their Masseria Li-Reni will soon become a relaxing getaway with a small luxury hotel and SPA. The wines are internationally awarded: “Raccontami” and “Noitre” won several important prizes, “Il Rosso dei Vespa” was considered the best quality/price Italian wine in 2016. “Il Bruno dei Vespa” is the first wine produced by the winery and best-selling one. 'Il Bianco dei Vespa' was served to his Royal Highness Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace. The rose’ “Flaro’” pays tribute to the company of two great athletes from Puglia, Flavia Pennetta and Roberta Vinci, who centered the historic U.S. OPEN final in 2015. The new masterpiece of the winery is “Helena”, a new reinterpretation of the Nero di Troia grape, full of balance, character and elegance. It will be released in 2017 and is intended to become the flagship of Vespa Vignaioli, the expression of highest quality production. Vespa wines are distributed in Canada, United States, Asia and in the major European countries as well as in the entire Italy.

Apulia/Salento is an area well known since the ancient Greeks for its rich, fruity and full-bodied wines. The production focuses on eight labels; seven wines and one Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Primitivo-Zinfandel; Negroamaro; Chardonnay; White Malvasia; Black Malvasia; Malvasia Rosè. All are made to IGT/IGP standards and correspond 100% to the type of grape. The winery cru is the Santa Croce - Salice Salentino Riserva (DOC/DOP) - made from a blend of Negroamaro and Black Malvasia grapes (80%-20%). It is aged for 12 months in French oak barrique and then 6 months in bottle before release. The Reale family have owned the property for over one hundred years and have been making wine since the early 20th century. They have a passion for producing only the best wines and, after so many vintages, this makes them one of the most respected wine producers of the entire Apulian region.

The vineyards of the family, dating back to the early 1900s, are located on the hills of Verona in the areas of Soave and Valpolicella. Region: Apulia Participating with Consorzio Di Tutela e Valorizzazione Dei Vini ”Salice Salentino D.O.P”e Dei Vini “Salento I.G.P.” "Vini Menhir Salento” is a young winery founded by Gaetano Marangelli. It produced its first wines in 2005. The company takes pride in telling the story of the territory located in the Southern part of Apulia, Salento, specifically, the areas of Minervino di Lecce, Maglie, and Otranto, close to the Adriatic coast. In a short time, Marangelli has successfully created a comprehensive system of terroir, vines, nature, hospitality and high-quality cuisine. In 2011, the company opened ‘Origano – Osteria & Store’, a mix of hospitality, quality contemporary cuisine and great wines. Origano sources many of the ingredients from a local organic farm. Menhir Salento has always used natural and organic viticulture and enological processes that respect the traditions of local winemaking, while emphasizing the uniqueness of Apuglian autochthonous grapes (Primitivo, Negroamaro, Susumaniello, Aleatico, Fiano, and Verdeca). The result is elegant wine, characterized by structure and balance: N. Zero (100% Negroamaro), Quota 31 (100% Primitivo), Pietra (60% Primitivo and 40% Susumaniello), Pietra Susumaniello (100% Susumaniello), Salice Salentino DOC and Salice Salentino Riserva DOC (80% Negroamaro and 20% Malvasia). Region: Friuli Venezia Giulia Participating with Friuli Future Wines VII Giorgio Zaglia Winery produces quality wines in Friuli, in the far northeast of Italy in the Latisana DOC wines area, where the existence of a consolidated winemaking tradition is unquestionable. The estate, stretching across a surface of about 30 hectares, is situated in the area of Precenicco and Pocenia, in the southwest of the Province of Udine between the Stella and the Tagliamento rivers, where the clay soil, rich in mineral salts, and the nearby Adriatic Sea, producing warm and salty air currents, create an extraordinary microclimate ideal for vine growing. The vines are grown according to low environmental impact standards: the grapes are picked strictly by hand; the vinification, based on refined physical techniques rather than chemical, is implemented in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature. Eventually, the ageing process both in steel and barrique gives birth to a series of balanced white and red classical wines from Friuli with appreciated genuine and noble features.
