Woof and Warp

Tea For Two

Sheryl Johnson’s (Temecula Quilt Co) newest collection is named for the essential foundation of any piece of fabric. Warp threads run lengthwise, while the woof are the threads that run crosswise. Woof + Warp is full of the fresh shades of spring. Sky blues, grass greens and sunshine yellows all work together in a fresh, playful mix of floral and geometric prints. “The overall look lends itself beautifully to Vintage Basket blocks. Imagine a Pinwheel Picnic on a warm and breezy spring day.”

Cindy Staub returns to her childhood memories to draw initial inspiration for her Tea For Two collection. The line mimics designs of her mother’s teacup collection, combined with more recent inspiration from Cindy’s own love for tea and coffee shops.

“While designing this line, I dug thru my cupboards and hutches for teapots and fancy cups and lined them all up to inspire me while I drew. I also grabbed my favorite apron and tea cozy for dimensions while designing the sizing for them. My bestie and I love to visit tea and coffee shops and I love all of the tea flavors and can spend hours smelling the different blends.” Cindy Staub

Just Rosy

Pretty, mixable roses, whether tossed, bouquets, toneon-tones, buds, florets or silhouettes, are always a welcome addition to the quilter’s stash, especially in softer pinks, blues and greens with cream. Inspiration from the Smithsonian collection adds to the appeal of these traditional favorites.

Plumberry III

Not long ago, it was difficult to find purple historic reproduction fabrics, but Pam Buda (Heartspun Quilts) aimed to change that, Plumberry III is her effort to provide quilters with plenty of options to choose from! “This collection continues my mission, with twenty new purples! From lilac to aubergine, plum to lavender, I chose pretty prints for the six lights and fourteen plums that you simply must have!”

Pam’s Patchwork Stars

The success of Pam’s Log Cabin, has inspired her to do another engineered design, and she’s taken it up a notch by creating a six pointed star motif! “It’s chock-full of a wide variety -- I used nearly every print I have ever designed for Marcus! This star print is so very colorful and can be used for so many things far beyond a fun backing. It can be a wonderful addition to any quilt, would make a gorgeous bed runner, tote bag, project bag, zippered pouch, not to mention a beautiful jacket!” Quilters will also love Pam’s six companion prints as borders, backgrounds, binding, tote bag lining or whatever you want them for!

Mercantile Flannels

Don’t you love soft and comfy flannels? So does Pam Buda (Heartspun Quilts)! She’s designed a collection of eighteen premium quality flannel prints that you can cozy up to. Some are versions of her favorite prints, while others are brand new print designs. Pam has also designed a very simple quilt for this collection, letting the flannel itself take center stage!

Elegant Estate Collection

Combining Smithsonian collection inspiration with the signature style of Judie Rothermel (Schoolhouse Quilts), this group begins with the beautiful stripe, taken from a wallpaper dated 1860. Black and beige are highlighted with shades of rose and teal. “All of the prints in the line would complement a beautiful Estate home of the mid 1800s…or a home of today.”

Jacquard Prints

Twelve beautiful shades add sophistication to this lacey, dimensional tone-on-tone print, a mix of paisleys and florals on a textured ground. Quilters will love to create with these blenders on their own, as backgrounds for embroidery or appliqué, quilt backs, or mixed in with their favorite Marcus collections.

Dressmaker

We’ve partnered with the Smithsonian for another beautiful collection, designed by Marcus design director, Monika Zhu. The calming palette of inky blues with neutral tans and beiges. Vines and leafy florals pair with a stylized stripe and texture prints, all with a subtle influence of traditional batik. The look is perfect for quilts and home décor projects.

It’s easy to imagine how a stack of ladies’ sewing magazines from the turn of the century at a flea market in Paris became the inspiration for the latest collection by Dawn Heese.

“Tucked inside one was a large, folded page with embroidery designs. They were dated 1909 and had beautiful writing that included a Paris address and numbers for the different designs. Right away, I imagined what a great fabric that would make. I imagined a lady of the time making her clothes and stitching and the Dressmaker collection was born.”
