Boy Scouts of America Project Book
Why The Boy Scouts of America? I have been in the scouts and as soon as I achieved eagle scout and went to college it all just stopped. There was no more for me to do as I thought at that time. The organization became unappealing. My younger brothers thought it was droky and wanted no part of it. I realized that Boy Scouts shaped me into a great person. It was a vital part of my development. Now my younger brothers wish they stuck with it.. My undergraduate degree was paid for by a full-ride scholarship because of leadership. If I can change a brand to allow more people to want to participate in an organization then that would be an amazing accomplishment.
Before We Begin...
I believe that at one time they were delivering a compelling and effective message. I seems that they have fallen behind in the times of keeping up with the trends and are slowly losing members and face as a respected organization. They still hold true to their current brand and values but it seems that people have moved pass that on are concentrating on other things since times past. Reenergizing the brand such as the YMCA did just this pass year, the Boy Scouts and continue and grow and go past 100 years.
I have experience with the Boy Scouts of America ever since I was in second grade and joined. I know what it takes to become an eagle scout and I believe that once things have been properly researched and considered we can not only bring the Boy Scouts of America out of the 90’s and into the new millennium. The organization will see that there is room for improvement and growth and these things are vital to keep an organization moving in the right direction.
This project is in no way undermining the current logo or stlye of the Boy Scouts of America program. This project book is to give options to the organization so that whenever they decide to change different elements of the brand or want to venture out and make new designs this can be a guide to a possiible go to for those situtations. The best outcome of this book is to show the scouting program that there are other possibilities in design for the organization. We all know that brands are never changing and are always evolving. This project gives sight into the possible future for the organization.

Abstract The declining numbers of the 100 year old organization: The Boy Scouts of America is due to the unfocused nature of the organization’s lumped effort of all advertising works for all target markets. The segmentation of the Boy Scouts of America will bring new opportunities to develop new identities, marketing strategy, and a new base for new design across many platforms.
Before the Boy Scouts of America can create segmentations of the different subdivisions the organization must first control personal company information from the public and also control the social media content before it gets out of control. New media for new subdivisions of the Boy Scouts of America will ensure that the organization will continue to grow for years to come and re-invent its self as an up-to-date and current organization.

Taking back control of the brand on the World Wide Web will help grow the brand in social media and promoting the growth of the overall organization. The Boy Scouts of America have to take responsibility for all content that is put on the Internet and also for information distributed to different councils. By dividing and becoming more focused on the different subdivision of the Boy Scouts organization the Boy Scouts will be able to more effectively pursue the correct target market. This segmentation of the Boy Scouts of America organization will make it easier to pursue new design and more creative advertising so that no one group is missed when trying to promote to the masses. The website will be more focused towards the target market and will be a resource that is easy to navigate.

The Competition The Boy Scouts of America compete for government funds and private investments from many of the groups in the Sports and Lesiure sector. The main organizations that compete with the Boy Scouts of America are Campfire USA, Boy and Girls Club of America, and the YMCA. Each with a specific reason that they are considered compeditiors.
Campfire USA was founded in 1910 originally for young women who wanted to learn and help their communities. Later the membership was offered to young men as well in 1975. Like the Boy Scouts of America they strive to prepare members for the future. Also they provide sport and leisure activities that children can participate in and also enjoy the environment.
Boys and Girls Club of America stated as a group of mothers in Hartford, Connecticut who wanted to show roaming teen boys that there was a better alternative than a life of crime in the year 1890. The Boys and Girls Club started to become nationwide in 1906. The overall purpose is to monitor community children and teach them skills they can use in their futures. They have an extensive celebrity alumni base. The activities of the club are mostly urban and stay close to the city that the chapter is in.
They YMCA was started back in 1851 as a pray group for men. Over 160 years later the YMCA has over 10,000 worldwide providing community services and programs which vary from branch to branch. Many offer summer children programs and year long daycare. Also the YMCA offers leadership training for children that want to be a positive role model in their community. The YMCA just went through a rebranding face and changed it’s entire image.

Boy Scouts of America Project Book
What I have learned from this project While working on this project book. I have learned so much that I have come to love. Buliding a brand isn’t easy but rebranding an existing brand is something that is even harder. I have learned new things about the Boy Scout organization and relearend some things that I have forgotten on my own trail to becoming an Eagle Scout. The Boy Scouts of America is a great organization and has great potential to teach young men life skills and responsibility. Targeting the different subdivisions would be a great way to make sure that we are not only getting parents excited about the scouting program, but we also make sure that young children, young men and women are excited as well. I also had tough times working on this project book understanding the inter workings of a complex organization and seeing things from the eyes of current members and current branding. This adventure has been exciting for me and I am thankful for God’s guidence and directing me to choose the Boy Scouts of America as my project. I hope that anyone reading this can see the possibilities of the designs I have offered. A brand is a living and breathing being and it is up to people who really care and want to see an organization survive another 100 years to develop it and progress it for years to come. Even though this project book is finished I feel that there will be more to come. The possibilities are endless. I feel apart of something that I have been missing for years and I hope that shines through in this project book.
