Ferrol Vello, A Magdalena and A Costa: Three places in Ferrol very popular with tourists Ferrol Vello is the oldest area in Ferrol. It is near the harbour area where you can walk and watch the sea. It is a nice area. There are some old buildings and there is an old Catholic church and some cafés. There and also some shops where you can buy food and clothes.

A Magdalena is another area in Ferrol. Its design is a typical design from the 18th century. It is very popular with tourists. There are three old Catholic churches and there is a market where you can buy different and very good sea products.

The coast in Ferrol is very beautiful. There are a lot of good beaches and high cliffs. On Ferrol’s coast you can do a lot of nautical sports and you can enjoy beautiful views from A Coruña to Malpica de Bergantiños.

REINA SOFÍA PARK It’s a big park in the centre of Ferrol, and it’s very popular with tourists. You can see a lot of animals there (peacocks), and it’s a great place to have a picnic. There are sometimes concerts and parties in summer. It’s open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day. MAGDALENA MARKET It´s the best market in Ferrol. It’s a great place to buy food, and you can also buy clothes and jewelry. There are some cafés in Magdalena Market, and it’s also near Ferrol’s shops and restaurants. It’s open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every day. DONIÑOS BEACH Doniños Beach is the best beach in Ferrol, and it’s very popular with young people. There are a lot of places to eat in Doniños, and there are also some nice cafés. It’s a great place to have a picinic.

THREE PLACES FOR TOURITS IN MY TOWN

THE PORT – The port of Ferrol is an old port from the Middle Ages and very important in the 18th and 19th Centuries for the Navy. The navigation is very interesting because the ships sail between two old castles.

THE NAVAL MUSEUM It’s an old building near the Port. There are a lot of interesting things to see about the sea, navigation and the Navy in Ferrol. It’s open from 10.00 am to 1.30 pm. It’s free.

CANTÓN PARK It's a beautiful park in the centre of the town. There are some interesting plants and trees. It's a nice place to walk and relax with children. There are also a lot of cafés.

The military Arsenal was built in the eighteen century. There, is the Naval Museum, it is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every day, except Saturday and Sunday, it cost adults 2 euros, children free. In the Arsenal we can see "El Dique de la Campana", "Cuartel de Instrucción" and "La puerta del Dique" , which are very interesting and important constructions.

We can visit the Magdalena district in the old city center with a teathre, Art Nouveau buildings, beautiful parks and squares. There are also some nice cafés and tapas bars with a lot of people.

The Jofre Teathre

There is a hill surrounding the city. From there we can see panoramic views, great beaches and a lake, also, the ruins of the ancient meteorological station is a good place to stop and have a break. Mª Belén Castro Gómez

“The Chamorro Chapel” is a great place to visit. It´s a tradition in Ferrol and a festival. It´s after Easter Week, a Monday during all day. The typical food is rosquits. The people walk on foot and put a candle. There are a lot of people, eat and things to buy. It doesn´t open very often and it´s free. There are good panoramic views of Ferrol. “The Jofre Theatre” is the best theatre in Ferrol and it is in the center of the town. There are a lot of interesting shows to see. The Jofre building is very beautiful. There are restaurants, cafés, taxis, supermarkets, buses, shops and town hall near the theatre. It´s open every day and it costs different prices. “San Felipe” is an old castle and it is at the entrance of the estuary. The building is beautiful. It´s in front of the other old castle. Its name is “La Palma” castle. It has a lot of visits from tourists. San Felipe is open from 11:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. in winter and from 11:00 a.m. to 20:00 p.m. in summer. It costs 1€. THREE PLACES FOR TOURISTS IN MY TOWN

Magdalena Market

Magdalena Market are two old Art Nouveau buildings placed in the centre of the town. You can buy fruit, vegetables and meat in one building and you can buy all types of fish and shellfish in the other building.

San Felipe Castle

San Felipe Castle is a military fortification placed on the right side of Ferrol’s estuary. It’s open from 10.00 am to 19.00 pm every day and the visit costs € 1.

Doniños Beach

Doniños is a long beach of white sand, with about two kilometres in length. It’s very popular with the young people because it is near the town and you can go by bus. In addition, it’s good to go surfing. By Miguel Angel Váquez Castro


THREE PLACES FOR TOURISTS IN MUGARDOS • The village of O Seixo is a small and beautiful village of fishermen. There are a lot of small and old stone houses, and there's also a small port with many boats.

• Mugardos harbor is in Mugardos. In summer, there's a boat (lancha de Mugardos) that does tourist tours by Ferrol's ria. There's a tour at 11.00 a.m. and another at 4.30 p.m. The tour price is 5€ per person. • The Castle of La Palma is an old military castle that defended the entrance to

Ferrol's ria (estuary). It's in ruins, but from it you can see a beautiful landscape.

FERROL’S TOP PLACES Doniños is a beach from Ferrol. It´s between two beaches, Penencia and San Jorge. I always go in summer. I like it because on DONIÑOS BEACH there are big car parks, but in summer it´s very difficult to find a place for the car. There are buses, too. There are a lot of surfing boys and girls. There is a snack bar next to the shore. If you´re stressed, you have to go there and you will wind up very relaxed. You can walk to the hill and you can have a picnic, too, because there is a nice picnic area.

Santiago is next to Ferrol, it´s 50 min. from there. It has a big cathedral. There are a lot of people there. If you want, you can do Santiago´s way, from Ferrol. You have to walk four days, about six hours a day. There´s an Old Town and a New Town. It´s beautiful, there are a lot of hippies who sell leather bags. There are streets with cafés and restaurants. There isn´t a sea. You can buy souvenirs around the cathedral. By Elena Yáñez.


THREE PLACES IN MY CITY FOR VISITORS First place, Reina Sofia Park. It´s very beautiful and it´s a good place to walk and see big and old trees. There are a lot of birds, some beautiful peacocks, white gooses and ducks, too. There´s an old fountain, WALLACE”. It´s from 1889.

In summer there are a lot of concerts in Reina Sofia´s Park.

Second place, is Magdalena´s Market. Its doors open every day except Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is good place to buy food, clothes, jewellery and old things. There are some Cafés and snack bars. You can also have breakfast or lunch, because there are restaurants with good food over there.

Finally, in Ferrol there are a lot of beaches. It´s a great place for visitors, because these beaches have white sand and they are fresh and very beautiful. In summer there are a lot of people and they are good beaches for open air activities and sports, for example surfing

I live in Ferrol, it´s a beautiful town around the sea, there are a lot of beaches, a great seaport and a wonderful countryside. In the centre of town there are a lot of old and new buildings, place and churches. The Jofre Theatre is the best theatre in Ferrol, it´s open at the weekend from 8,00 pm to 11,00 pm., near here there are good cafés, pubs and restaurants, it´s very popular with tourists. The old building opposite is a Post Office. The Queen Sofia Park is a great place to relax, to read a book or to play with the children, with good weather. It´s open every day and it´s free. There are two Museums, the Naval and the Fine Arts museums, they are open from 10,30 am., to 8,00 pm., every day. There are a lot of churches. Sightseers or tourists can see and visit six or seven churches in the centre of the town if you are walking. To finish the tour, I recommend going for a walk along the seaport. PLACES TO VISIT IN MY CITY

I think that the best place to visit in my city is the coast. There are beautiful beaches to walk, have picnic, play sport, swim in the sea or for a drink with friends, because there are some nice bars here.

In my city, there are some old buildings that you can see if you walk along their streets.

FERROL´S TOP THREE PLACES San Felipe is an ancient military castle in Ferrol. It is very popular with tourists because it´s the place of Brion’s battle against the British Navy. THE CENTRE OF FERROL It is popular with tourists. You can go by bus or by taxi. It’s a great place to go shopping. There are some parks, stations, some shops, cafés and restaurants. There are a lot of old buildings. They are also beautiful. CASTILLO SAN FELIPE It Is a good place to visit. You can see the ria of Ferrol by boat and ship. It’s a very beautiful scenery. It’s not open every day, but you can visit it at the week end with your family. SAN ANDRES DE TEIXIDO It is a great place to visit. My city is Ferrol, it is a nice place for the summer, because it has beautiful beaches, like Doniños Beach. It is a place for surfing, there are tourists from Holland England, France.......also, you can see concerts at the weekend in Muestras Ferial. Magdalena’s neighbourhood is very important and it has long streets. Stone houses are typical and are very interesting. The Arsenal is a very important place in Ferrol, because there are the shipyards. Ferrol has two castles, San Felipe and Palma, they are at the entrance of Ferrol´s estuary.

AND FINALLY…..Three beautiful Places to visit in Peru Cusco: Machu Picchu Cusco is the capital of the Inca Empire, it has a long history. It is also the natural base to access the archaeological city of the Inca, it is very popular with tourists. There are interesting places to see. It is very famous for its architecture and history. There are two ways to get there: walking the Inca trail or by train. There is a market called Pisac. It is open every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. You can also visit the "Hot Water", it is a village at the bottom of Machu Picchu Sanctuary. It is open every day of the year. Foreigner adults 40 Euros, Foreigner Students 20 Euros, and children (8‐18) 20 Euros. Adults from the Andean Community nations 20 Euros, children and national students 11 Euros. Huaraz (The Lagoon Llanganuco) Start at the Huascaran National Park in White Mountain Large. It is very popular with students from colleges. It is also preferred by the Mountaineers. It is the base of the city of Huaraz, capital of Ancash department, located 420 km north of Lima. It is open every day, and it's free! Ica (Ballestas Islands, Nasca Lines) There are plenty of things to see and visit. There is a regional museum showing costumes, pottery, and mummies. There are iconic Nasca Lines; there are forms of animals and many meters long. The Ballestas Islands are located 20 kilometers away and there are many birds, including penguins.
