Vision of development: The main idea is creating a network of pedestrian and cycle paths composed by two different system in functions and typology to improve the sustainable mobility of the city. The first system is composed by paths sourrinding the town with a landscape and sport character, and the second is a system inside the city with an historical characters and a day-to-day base. Aditionally an analysis of the territorial tourist mobility considering both private and public long-distance accessibility to manage a potential number of users increase through transport point interchange interchange and through the implementation of new points of bike sharing.

Geneva Urban farm Urban agriculture park - International open competition Selected ŠScob

Site: bernex- Confignon, Geneva, Switzerland Team: S.Carulla, O.Blasco, M. Galante, S. Sanna, C.Ruiz To the west of the canton of Geneva, Bernex aims to become a regional center, welcoming new residents, jobs and public facilities. The objectives of the competition is the design and implementation of public spaces with an agriculture component. The entire park is designed as an in-situ observation of natural, urban ecology and sustainable development. In this sense, the proposed water cycle is configured as a system that can see and visit, small channels large retention basin and depuration. In addition we found really interesting to extent and continue the wooded fringe located at the western boundary to maximizes ecological connectivity with other biodiverse areas located north and south. The creation of a linear timber functioning also as a filter to reduce noise and discomfort caused by environmental infrastructure. The ancient plots structure are recovered to organize the space and provide a cross connection with the park. They also help improve the management and organization of the territory vis-Ă -vis future development areas.Equipment market, services, storage and playground for children are arranged along the new public space on the system limit is strengthening its urban character and facilitating the management. A diversified, organic and biodynamic production, with the creation of an agro-forestry system is preferred. This agroforestry system will support the economic infrastructure of the barn as the continuity of the park in green infrastructure with the natural environment protected from the RhĂ´ne River. The composition and the principles of planning and management of the site are designed according to the concept of Permaculture (which describes the design as a systemic and sustainable approach towards natural and anthropogenic means). Plant structure revolves around a stepped arriving to crop edge. A curve of decreasing vegetation from west to east, consists of forest vegetation, a bushy belt, herbaceous hem.

#Baixem - Collserola Urban strategy Urban transformation & participatory urbanism First prize ex-aequo Š Lacol

Site: Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain Team: Lacol, Margherita Galante, D.La PeĂąa, P. Gonzalo, Raons publiques & SCEA Stakeholders: Barcelona municipality, Collserola park & citizens community association The competition aim was to explore criticisms and possibilities for the backside green spot of Barcelona city finding out new urban solutions for the sixties district of Canyelles and Collserola Park. The methodology adopted was from neighbourhood communication phase up to collective web mapping, historical research, interviews, and community walking and finally design workshops. The community desire were especially directed to preserve and maintenance natural habitat, create new bicycle connection, new market place, picnic areas and community edible garden. The large members of stakeholders committed could switch on a strong neighboured network and some micro interventions proposed in competitions phase are now going on thanks to voluntaries action group.

WIND FARM AS CULTURAL LANDSCAPE Landscape characters assessment, Rewable energy and earth excavation reclamation Best Master final project 2012 on UPC-commons

Site:Vallé del Agly, France Mentors: Maria Goula, Anna Zahonero, Martí Franch, Pepa Morán Team: Margherita Galante, Israel Martinéz Vallés, Francesca Ciuppa This competition entry deals with the question how to create a profitable wind farm witch’s profits not only form a new source of income for the local population, but also contribute to a further improvement of the existing landscape by investing part of its revenues. Herewith a new landscape can be create, existing core landscape values by strenghtened and can weakness be tourned into strengths, benefiting the overall perception of the landscape. The proposed scenarios intend to give an important impulse to local tourism, given the fact the French wine production is decreasing. These economic changes have left their marks within the project landscape, having tourned many vineyard into abandoned plots. The stategies intend to use neglected landscapes to improve the ecological connectivity and biodiversity of the systhem as a whole, applying ecological principles like patches, borders and vegetation strata. Additionally the wind farms want to become a ‘green’ landmark within the landscape and therewith form a new identy for the region and attract sustainable tourism. This can either be achieved by its strategic placement close to singular landscape elements as well as traditional agriculture systems, historical villages or post-industrial sites. To reach maximum results with the visual integration of the wind farms in the landscape, tourbines will be placed in such a way that they reinforce the existing topography lines.

Ecopark inverness Landfill reclamation, industrial statement and renewable energy Site: Inverness, Scotland Tutor: Lisa McKenzie Edinburgh College of Art Considering the Energy and the Waste plan of Highlands region, the project wants to improve the use of renewable energy and recycled materials. The landfill site closed in 2003 and in the Ecopark develop the relamation action time is supposed to be around 50 year. Reconverting the Longman industrial estate as central point of the recycle process where the recycling materials are collected, recycled and trasform in ecodesign products in the some area. All the ex landfill area is thinking to be energy productive in a short time period with cropfield and forestry plantation for biofuel and biomass a and at the same time this land use help the bioremadiation of polluted soil. After the contamination critic periods an ecoschool will settle to work on the environmental learning of the young generation. By the time part of the space in the ecopark will be manage from the students and renewable energy strategies (solar, little wind tourbines and storm water system) could support the cost of the project along the time.

fort william city waterfront Marina, waterfront and urban regeneration Site: Fort William, Scotland, UK Tutor: Kenny Fraser Edinburgh College of Art The challenge is the reintegration of the town centre with its waterfront through the creation of a new, bold and distinctive urban quarter. The site is approximately 5.5 hectares and broadly lies between the two roundabouts which mark the extent of the dual carriageway section of the A82 parallel to Loch Linnhe. It extends back to meet the old High Street and is bounded to the west by Loch Linnhe. Given the linear nature of the site and the opportunity presented by the waterfront location. Two issues which must be addressed are the retention of a suitably scaled down A82 and a proposal which ‘heals’ the ugly rear side of buildings on the west side of the High Street which were not designed or intended to be viewed so prominently. Our proposals for the built environment will be mixed use; they should be of a high quality that will accommodate a range of uses including retailing, office space, cafes and restaurants with the predominant upper floor use being apartments. In our proposal we incorporate approximately 250 housing units and should also accommodate a hotel, a hostel, a new market square and library/ museum and a new marina. We also include waterside open space development incorporating some reclaimed land to have more space for cycling track preference. The aim is to link the cycling track facilities of the city with the Grean Glen Belt already connecting the outside of Fort William to Inverness crossing all Highlands region. Lastly, overall, Our proposals try to concentrate on placemaking, making unique places and spaces which respond to the site context creating a social, cultural and leisure hub based on proximity to the seafront and integration to the town.
