• Most people have a favorite Girl scout cookie flavor. Utilize our residents, and support a great organization by creating a sales event, or space for your local girl scouts to offer their residents these delicious treats.
• Basic Supplies needed: outdoor space, and a local Girl Scouts chapter contact.
• Create a regular scheduled weekly event or single Saturday Afternoon..
• Expected costs: FREE
Contact your local girl scout chapter if there are no residents available. Also visit your local grocery stores on the weekend and offer a date to the young ladies selling their cookies at the front door. It’s a great way to support this great organization.
• With the start of the new year, fitness tends to be at the forefront in peoples minds. Utilize your facilities, a local gym, or our virtual programming to create a fitness competition. Incentivize and celebrate your residents efforts by offering a prize.
• Basic Supplies: Prizes for winners or participants.
• This should be a month long or regularly scheduled activity. Announce results at an event or in next month’s resident communication.
• Approximate Costs: $50 to $200 in prizes or fitness equipment.
With a new year comes new resolutions. Promote healthy living and encourage residents to participate in a variety of activities. Dependent on your community facilities, please contact joeg@weidner.com to identify how to best implemet this easy and positive activity.
• Create a quick game or activity in your leasing office for residents to stop by and have some fun. Encourage residents to share their “stress relief” activities they may partake in at work. Bottom line, HAVE FUN!
• Basic Supplies needed: a quick game or activity that can be played in your office.
• Choose a specific weekday and make it an all day opportunity.
• Approximate cost: $50 for prize and game.
Nothing shortens the work day more than a few minutes of entertainment. A simple game of connect four, Hi/Lo card game, or quick recreational game always lightens the mood. Create a photo area and generate shareable fun pictures from your residents. Everyone needs a break from time to time.
• Meant as another fitness related activity, a walking club, or regular routine promotes health. Including pets is a good way to help residents get to know each other. Friends make the best residents.
• Basic Supplies needed: Pet treats, bottled water, and a walking path.
• A monthly gathering day, or Saturday morning will generate the most participation.
• Estimated cost: $40 for pet treats and bottled waters.
Pets have to go out no matter the weather. So do their human parents, so coordinate a regularly scheduled gathering time for residents to take a walk thru the community. Be supportive and partake in the walk and get to know your residents in a relaxing and healthy environment.
• If you’ve been diligent with hosting resident events, and taking pictures to share on wecare@ weidner.com, then this activity is 90% complete. A photo Album is easy to share digitally and a great attraction to show prospects!
• Basic Supplies needed: Photos from resident events, love notes, or resident submissions
• This is a month long event where residents submit their photo’s via email or post on the bulletin board
• Estimated costs: FREE
By asking residents to submit photos from your resident events, or their own pictures from around the property, you can easily put together a memorable collection of community memories. Create the content in a single day by putting together a festive photo booth and inviting residents to come celebrate the new year in style.
• Host a traditional tea party, or get creative with this fun and flexible “T”themed activity. From characters starting with the letter T, to anything remotely related, it’s just a good excuse to get people together.
• Basic Supplies needed: Variety of Tea’s, decoration, and snacks
• A Saturday afternoon is the perfect time for this easy to produce gathering.
• Cost for Event: $100 for refreshments and decorations. Add in a contest or game to offer a prize.
Break out the fancy Tea set as decoration and enjoy an afternoon of comraderie and civility. A few decorartions will make this feel like a high end gathering. Keep it simple and take time to just engage with residents. Set up your event and get to know your residents.
• A Breakfast on the go, serving station, or gathering works for this event. Provide the basics, and set up a nice display. Splurge on an assortment of bagel options to satisfy everyone’s taste.
• Basic Supplies needed: Bagels, beverages, toppings and spread, and a toaster.
• Any morning will draw a crowd, but best to be hosted on a Saturday morning.
• Estimated event cost - $2 to $4 per serving based on variety and quality of items provided. Shop locally for best quality products.
Residents will only come down for donuts so much. By adding this subtle change to that event, residents will feel this is a special activity and enjoy your efforts. The initial display will play a big part in your attendance. The food brings them to the door, the display invites them in....sound familar?
• This fun play on words allows you to have an in person decorating event, or grab and go style activity. Residents wil be happy to display their finished products and creates a sense of genuine community when displayed collectively.
• Supplies needed: Gnomes and paint supplies.
• Host a decorating party any time or grab and go throughout the month.
• Cost of supplies: $1 to $12 per gnome. Shop high end gnomes to be displayed HERE.
Use this event to introduce new associates to the community. Be sure the new associate participates and decorates their own Gnome. Create a special “welcome to the community” event for recent move-ins to meet their neighbors. Have residents fill out a favorite things list to help build rapport.
• Patience and promotion will help get this regular gathering event momentum. Identify co-creators by inviting residents to put this group together. Simple snacks and beverages is all that is needed.
• Supplies needed: food, and beverages. A book selection may be needed.
• Schedule for a monthly weekday, evening gathering and adjust accordingly based on participants.
• Cost of supplies: Food and Beverage $50 per event.
Where do you start? This activity is not easy to get started, but requires little to no maintenance once it gains traction. Be diligent and promote heavily to identify a resident who will take the lead. Contact joeg@weider.com for assistance getting this started.
• Every Pet Friendly Community should have a Pet of the Month. Collect pet details quarterly. Choose at random
• Event Supplies: pet treats, prizes, or discounts established with local pet groomers, food suppliers, dog walkers,
• People LOVE their pets and love showering them with treats. You can set this up for several months in advance.
• Activity Costs: FREE
Pet of the Month is the best and easiest activity you can maintain monthly. Take a day and find a local pet store, groomer, or pet service location and work out a promotional partnership. Contact Joeg@ weidner.com for assistance.
