Starry Night
ALLITERATION
From distant light She laid under the stars In a field loaded with lavender flowers She was lucky to live in such a place Where the stars looked down upon the land
The night was lackluster and chilly But the view was lovely as always Everything was low-pitched Except for the loud sound of the crickets Now the light has come Just time to wait for another starry night

Summer
ASSONANCE
Summer, The season between June and July You can see the birds flying high And a smile or giggle on everyone's face The sun shines so bright And there are kites in the sky
Everyone’s happy when summer comes around It’s the best season for ice cream It's not too cold for some icy drinks either You can go biking too And even roast s'mores near the campfire There are many lIvely things to do in summer But it only lasts a while, so make it count -4-
The Bells
ONOMATOPOEIA
The first bell rang Ding Ding Ding! People running around the hallways Slamming doors on their way into class Sighing, in reaction of school Kids yawning with tiredness, Having to wake up at six in the morning
It’s time for lunch The chiming of the bell rang once again You hear the shuffling of kids feet As they run into the lunch line Kids sipping ounces of water after a class of PE Gurgle Gurgle Gurgle Even a few burps here and there -5-
Class is finally over The three clangs Led everyone to run Crunch, crunch, crunch Girls giggling over rumors And others calling their parent Ring, ring, ring And now their free The weekend has come

Rainstorm The storm is starting. The green trees sway harshly against the wind. The salty smell of the ocean fills my head. The water crashes loudly against the dock.
I look out the window. I notice my dog outside. I run outside screaming its name. Wet, fresh raindrops slip between my lips, And fall hard on my shoulders. Grabbing my pup’s collar, I walk back inside, Doors and windows shuttered for a while
When the storm subsides, Birds come out chirping defiantly. The grass is fresh and wet. It’s over. No more storms for a while.

I’ve been hiding for about a year now Winter has gone away I take off my winter coat And change the leaves from orange to pink I showered in the wet rain And danced through the fields of flowers The sun's warmth spreads like a grin All my colorful trees whispered as they swayed to the wind All the birds screaming loudly to each other As the signs that spring is here Get bigger and bigger

RHYME
I was really hungry, so I wanted to eat

But I wasn’t sure if I wanted chicken or meat

I took a bite of my chicken

And later, I took my plate to the kitchen

I was really bored and weary

And then i had a theory!

I thought, what if I bake?

Maybe, cookies or even a cake!

After mixing and pouring

It got kind of boring

So I put it in the oven for 1 hour

Finally, I ate it, and it was kind of sour

You can love someone like they’re your one and only Or you can hate someone as much as a surgeon hates failure But sometimes you have to make a big mistake and break the rules
Mistakes can be painful like a big scary needle But it's the only way to figure out who you truly are Change is a new journey you take in your life Sometimes change is for the better
You may like it as much as saving lives Or hate it like when someone close to you dies Breaking the rules can result in what changes your life Even if you need to risk your job in order to save a life Just remember, live your life, if there was no tomorrow

My Dogs
TONE
I love my dogs, Always have, always will There playful, sweet and Always wagging their tail
But sometimes they get out of hand They snatch my food They bark all night long And they even get in the way
They both are adorable And I wouldn't be able to live without them One’s long thin and golden The other is short fat and old But size and color don't mind at all I love them, for what they are - 16 -

ALARMED I walked into the club Alarmed and nervous like a bird learning to fly Hoping my mom won’t find out I started dancing, trying to relax Bang, Bang, Bang! The music was much louder than usual Then, I got a call My mom was on the phone I broke, and I told her She didnt care!

I was full of caffein And my body wouldn’t stop moving Happy and calm, I danced all night Now I know I am not breaking rules I had nothing to worry about! Singing and having fun is what I did I was lucky to live in a place Like Ibiza, I love this city

I had so much homework last night It took me 20 hours to do it all I probably had to read more pages than a lawyer I couldn’t even finish math homework Because I had so much on my mind And don’t get me started on my teacher, She thinks the whole world revolves around her I’d rather kiss a frog then finish my homework I wrote about a million things in my agenda It won’t even close And because of all my books, My backpack ways more than an elephant So basically, I hate homework - 20 -

Last night, I had my first kiss The guy,... he was great He was a real Romeo with the ladies He looked at me like my dog looks at food

I shall attend the social festival On Saturday Eve, shall party commence Thine villagers await my arrival My new carriage announces my presence Glittering jewels shine diamonds like bright Far I can travel for I never end My party begins on mid summer’s night Dancing like lunatics, we shall pretend So jouring through the London West end clubs Alive thy city, all shaking thy bums Royals get intoxicated at pubs Connecting with the rich, avoiding slums Operating is my avocation All leave thy party with appreciation
