Area of interest The framed areas mark the proposed building. It is located in the hardwick village near the river.

The selected site of the project is situated in Hardwick village in the Clumber park in Nottinghamshire, managed by the National Trust. Clumber park is missing a focal point to elevate the overall experience and become a ''place to go'' for the next 50 years. The design process is based on enhancing what was found on the spot; flowers. As such, the development of

This project researches and redesigns the adaptive reuse of a historical building in East Anglia. Located in Clare, Suffolk, the building is set within a parkland bounded by a variety of mature trees to preserve and is accessed by a private driveway. Old historical buildings are always full of memories with strong atmosphere.

Site model The intension was to capture the warmth of the old structure and the simplicity of the new work. The design approach is based on creating a new extension through the properties, enabling interaction with the existing building. A new contemporary house is inserted into the old building.

The aim of the project is to create a studio space for a ceramist. The selected building is the engine hall of the old fire station located on Shakespeare Street in Nottingham. The ceramist resurrects the techniques used to make classical Ancient greek pottery to produce modern pottery.

Traditional manufacturing skills and the traditional Attic black glaze were lost over centuries. The aim of the design is to engage people with the making process in order to bring in life the almost lost Athenian tradition. Elevation 13

Excerpts from Dissertation entitled ''How are we supposed to remember events we did not actually experience? Traces of memories in Nicosia''.

''Multi-sensory'' experience visual

16

Architecture reinforces the sense of human existence in the world setting the body in constant interaction with the environment and vice versa (Pallasmaa, 2005). Architecture is a ‘’multi-sensory’’ experience where all senses are equally important to the perception and experience of the place and must be dealt with at the same time (Pallasmaa, 2005). All the sensory experiences are merged in the body and are activated as soon as the body interacts with space. The sensory approach to architecture is to create buildings that promote human understanding of the world through the experience of space, mediated by the senses to evoke emotions (Pallasma, 2012). Thus, a space with experience evokes an emotional attachment that will afterwards generate a memory. The experience of a space is a personal process, an interaction between the build and the person experiencing it (Pallasmaa, 2012). A space can accommodate every human activity leaving intangible traces in it. The body plays an irreplaceable role in the architectural design. The ergonomic features of the human body are used to understand dimensions and proportions in architectural spaces (Pallasmaa, 2011).
