While reading the title of the book, what comes out from the very first reading is, obviously, that from a visible to all phenomenon, the objectivity is not the one that follows, but what really follows is the subjectivity of things, when the last are analyzed like the light passing through the prism does.
The elements that constitute the aspect of facing phenomena and being affected by them are place and time; in fact, they are so strong, that they come able to shape commonly accepted views about phenomena, thus, affecting the subjective character. Cavafy’s hero is of the typical examples; he is put in sea, which brings up memories and thoughts new or older, the buried ones. Sea (place) bonded with time, interferes in an unexpected way with the Antikythera shipwreck, brings up memories and huge cultural treasure.
