2018 - Medical Tourism Professionals Fly-In
Join Us The Medical Tourism Professionals Meetup USA (December 9-15) is USA's first seniorlevel gathering of health and wellness tourism and medical travel industry leaders, facilitators, healthcare practitioners and hospital and facility executives. We'll be meeting up at a spectacular destination resort just 120 miles north of Las Vegas amidst the splendor of vermillion cliffs and spectacular red rock canyons. This relaxed and casual setting is like no other medical tourism industry event in the world. This first time fly-in, produced by the faculty members themselves is open to industry professionals to learn and grow their skills for the business of medical travel and health tourism. The fly-in is 100% free to register as our gift to our colleagues and clients and users and prospective clients who may not yet have budget for expensive conferences and dubious certifications. We are confident this will be the professional development and networking event of the year and that you'll reserve time and budget to join us each and every year to come. The Meetup’s faculty includes numerous esteemed experts from healthcare business administration, marketing, branding, IT, and security, along with physicians who will explain the details every facilitator needs to know to keep patients safe and expectations about their destination treatment as safe as possible.
Why is it free to register when other medical tourism events charge so much? This event is an informal meetup that is solely focused on education at a peer level, led by a powerful faculty that has agreed to do participate as a favor to Maria Todd, the event organizer. We've kept costs down and each participant will cover their own expenses for food, travel and lodging other than the informal cocktail events hosted by the faculty. There won't be any exhibit booths, no wallpaper certifications, no dancing elephants. The venue isn't requesting huge deposits because Maria Todd brings business there on a regular basis for other Master Classes she offers through the year. When you don't go overboard, you can keep costs low and value high.

What our globally-renowned faculty have to say: "Our role as health travel and tourism professionals is to create awareness, and maximize opportunities to help one another grow our businesses, coordinate care travel and recuperation. Our ability to do so begins by inspiring one another. " "Stepping out of the whirlwind of my medcal practice and talking to other professionals and practitioners and medical tourism facilitators provides me a really valuable perspective on the challenges I’m facing. It's helpful to learn from what others have tried and their results." "I agreed to attend, share and sponsor this event as a way to give unselfishly to our industry and take home new insights that will help me help my other clients. Maria has organized this event to fill in the gaps of what has been missing at all the other events around the world, and rounded up other high-profile, in demand faculty members and trainers who aren't found at the other medical tourism events because of date conflicts and other contraints." "The meet-up is the only week-long event bringing together Healthcare, Marketing, and Clinical leaders from for a discussions on actual strategies and implementation from the trenches. We hope you can join us for the entire event, but if your time is limited, come and participate for as long as you can." "You'll network with friends and colleagues in a relaxed, casual setting. Bring business cards, brochures, and an open mind ready to learn. Acquire new skills form the masters of the health tourism industry in an award-winning resort spa setting. Attend fam tours, cocktail hours, lectures, workshops and more. Bring your family to enjoy the scenery in this spectacular outdoor paradise setting like no other in the world. Checklist development - you owe your best to your clients/patients. Use checklists to make sure you avoid preventable errors and service delivery failures. Based on the writing of surgeon, author and now CEO, Dr Atul Gawande, our faculty follows through with Atul Gawande's checklist discipline to help facilitators and surgical team members address the problems and challenges of modern medicine when combined with medical travel and how professionals in health tourism deal with the increasing complexity of their responsibilities. Verifying credentials and privileges of medical and dental practitioners - learn the steps in the process and the framework for your documentation. If you don't do this, chances are high that you won't be accepted by underwriting for professional liability insurers. Hotel inspections and site visits - Not only will we inspect hotels in case you decide to negotiate provider contracts and do business here, but you will learn as Maria Todd shows you what to look for as you inspect hotels and accommodation options for your clients. She'll also share a hotel inspection checklist developed and refined over the past 10 years. Bring your checklists to compare notes. Let's share generously in knowledge transfer among professional colleagues! Trip planning and length of stay insights - why do doctors expect people to remain at the destination and for how long? It varies by procedure. Listen as physicians and nurses explain their reasoning from their professional viewpoint. Set client expectations appropriately without struggling for an explanation. Page 8

Demonstrations Meet & Treat™ - learn how surgeons are acquiring licenses and privileges to accompany their patients and peform surgery on their patients at lower cost and/or resort destinations in an interesting alternative business model. This increasingly popular trend supports the ultimate in care continuity and is a much easier sell than referring clients to a surgeon they've never met and will likely never encounter after their procedure. It is growing in popularity as medical boards around the world open licensing opportunities to foreign specialists and surgeons in exchange for consultations on local patients where specialists and surgeons are in short supply. Another driver of this trend is knowledge transfer and the opportunity to learn from the visiting specialist or surgeon as part of a visiting surgeon/specialist grand rounds activity. Understanding US Healthcare Prices - So much FAKE NEWS is circulated about prices of healthcare in the USA. Many medical tourism sellers outside the USA make tremendous blunders when they market price comparisons with the USA. Readers and listeners who understand the system will not only be suspicious about what you say, but also about why you are saying it. Any trust you might earn will immediately be lost. The system is complex. Learn how it works, and how to use the information online published directly by the US government, rather than rely on hearsay and rumours. Learn how to critically evaluate prices you read and hear and understand how to "follow the money" and ask probing questions. Page 9
