Since the bedroom area has an open view to the aquarium, it becomes a challenge to design the lighting on how it shouldn’t be exposed from the public museum in the across side. So we decided to dim the lights automatically when the viewing panel is raised. Just like in the theatre when the movie is about to begin. And we set the lighting ambiance color in blue to match with the ambience of the aquarium.
The construction of S.E.A. Aquarium. On the left side which is the solid blue area with openings is where the Ocean Suite located. This whole massive area was built to be the aquarium filled with hundred thousand of marine animals.
The fluorescent lamps and downlights are covered with Zenith Blue color filter to match the blue ambience from the aquarium. The objective of matching the blue color from the aquarium is to blur the vision of the visitors from the musem in the accross side to view the inside of hotel room when lights are litted.

PLAZA MANDIRI TOWER, JAKARTA Bank Mandiri as the largest bank in Indonesia demanded a visual transformation for their corporate identity by changing their logo, giving a new tag line, and reforming the lighting façade for their main tower in Jakarta. To achieve a better lighting image, they called all lighting consultants in Jakarta to compete a new design concept for the tower in a tender phase. Working in a very tight schedule, we developed the lighting concept first by studying their background history of the visual transformation. The reason why they need to reform the façade lighting is they want their building to be the prominent building from all other buildings around the location. Then we tried to approach the preliminary design through the philosophy of Mandiri’s brand logo which consists of three main colors: blue, yellow, and white. Blue shows their professional way of running their corporate, trustable, and stable. Yellow is a symbol color of wealth, prosperity, and glory. White describes a tough characteristic and purity. The yellow ribbon shape in the logo represents a liquid gold waves that well-known also as a symbol of wealthy. In further phase, we developed these elements to the architectural lighting. We put a cool white metal halide spot lights on the tower body and podium to show its strength. Then a yellow LED at the highest tower to bring the wealthy nuance. We keep the existing spot lights on the roof to wash its blue color. On top of the roof, we added a Tuokong strip lining LED as a master crown of this tower. Tuokong is a an ornament in chinese roof. We study the history of this roof that has an identical look with Betawi Roof, a local traditional roof of Jakarta clan that influenced by the Sundanese, Javanese, and Chinese culture.
