2013/2014 Location: Zurich, Switzerland Size: 1000 m2 The plot is located in “Seefeld in Zurich. The building, like most of the surrounding ones, consists of a mixed residential and commercial use. The upper bourgeois apartment building is interconnected with a commercial construction at the lower ground floor, a former mechanics garage.

Mehrfamilienhaus Feldeggstrasse

Gus WĂźstemann architects private commission

The aim of the project is the conversion of both into a purely residential building. At the Zollikerstrasse apartments, the stone walls are rediscovered, bringing to the living space the ambience of the mass and materiality. The industrial character is taken up to the apartment lofts at the Feldeggstrasse lofts. The raw materiality brings the authenticity to the space. Interior space becomes as exterior, on a smooth transition between the urban and residential lofts.

Master house, it is created as the individual relation between men and island, the individual paradise. The upper floor contains the master suite, embraced by a light wooden structure, sleeping well protected, below the stars. At the groundfloor, the light and sophisticated atmosphere creates a space for contemplating, surrounded by an exuberant nature. It opens the view to the landscape. The office is the center, the heart of the house. It disappears to an underground world, a new atmosphere. An intimate relation with the mass. A space fot thinking. Feeling the coolness of the earth. A sharp framed view opens up to the sea.

Jean-Frédéric Luscher Architect private commission

Set on a countryside village overlooking a vineyard landscape, the proposed new winery building complements an existing complex. Dated from the 19th century and expanded continuously since then, the complex is composed by three disconnected parts, both functionally and aesthetically. Consequently the project’s main premiss is the creation of a new identity by renovating the existing winery and conecting it with a new wine processing building. The old and new winery spaces are separated overgound. The underground level rooms for the wine tanks is connected.

2010 Pavilion in the Park The building stands in the park as a pavilion between the trees and links the museum to the park. The most characteristic and visible part from the building is the dark, lifted from the ground, irregular body. There, the main exhibition spaces are presented. In contrast, the ground floor is an open and neutral which allows and empowers the perception of the plasticity of the upper volume. The underground storeys include services, technical and delivery areas as well as an auditorium and special exhibitions room. Location: Frankfurt am Main, Germany

Master’s Dissertation: Architecture and City: Extensive Cultural Landscape Abstract The dissertation, subject to title Architecture and City: Extensive Cultural Landscape, begins with the final Project in Architecture. The Project was developed in the Basque Country, but the idea of Extensive Cultural Landscape as humanistic construction easily transports us to other places, such as the city of La Paz. It begins by exposing the Project under the geographical and spatial, theme and program points of view; it explores the concept that formed the basis and, finally, the actual development, culminating with its final representation. A historical analysis was made, exploiting the developments in the City and Culture from Classical Antiquity to Contemporary. The ideia of cultural cosmos, considered to understand the space-time temporal dimension of urbanity, demostrates that the proposed project takes a historical and architectural influence and creates a Humanized Cultural Landscape. The next item is the study od a city in particular, La Paz. The general context, the vernacular architecture and the population and housing issues introduce the analysis of the city, that focuses on geographical characteristics, ethnic, cultural and urban model, ending with a critical reflection of La Paz while Extensive Cultural Landscape. In a moment of theoretical analysis of the City and its image, discusses the phenomenon of human perception of the shapes and the environment and, with reference to the study of K. Lynch, integrates the concepts of imageability and urban mental map in the analysis of urban La Paz. The urban culture in its heritage and globalization, the essay of R. Koolhaas, which integrates the concepts of identity and vacuity and the urban voids as spaces of contemplation and memory are the following subjects. At the end, a small part of the text was transferred to an appendix that complements - with the reference to Saussure and semiology, to inhabit of Heiddeger, to Schoulz’s space of perception and poetic, and the poetics of space of Bachelard - ideas underlying, which constitutes aspects brought with this dissertation and that could be developed later.
