Mariana Parisca received a BFA in Studio Art and Anthropology in 2015 from Washington University in St. Louis and is an MFA candidate at Virginia Commonwealth University in Sculpture & Extended Media for 2020. Mariana, born in 1992, moved to Toledo, Ohio from Caracas, Venezuela in 2000. Her work deals with issues of contemporary mobility in relation to the formation of self. She currently lives and work in St. Louis, MO. Mariana has exhibited in various group shows including the Prelude to the Flood, 2018 at New Works Gallery, Chicago IL; Overview, 2017 at Bruno David Gallery, St. Louis, MO; Surface In-Tension, 2015 at TechArtista, St. Louis, MO; The Real World, 2015, Des Lee Gallery, St. Louis, MO; Are You Gonna Eat That, 2015 at 2626 Cherokee Street, St. Louis, MO; Adventures of a Photographer, 2015 at Weitman Gallery, St. Louis, MO; Pulse, 2014 at Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis, MO; Cabinet of Curiosities, 2014 at Libreria di Arte Contemporanea, Florence, Italy. She received an Artist/Writer Grant for Vermont Studio Center in December of 2015, and was an artist in residence with the St. Louis Story Stitchers Artist Collective from 2015-2017. At Washington University, Mariana was an Eliot Scholar and received the John J. and Marjory B. Lewin Photography Prize in 2015.
