Project 01: The Orange Youth Center

Location: Congregación Calles, Montemorelos, México Year: 2015 Located right out side the small mexican town of Montemorelos, there is a rural poverty site called “Congregación Calles”. This congregation holds ground to a local youth center which provides shelter and care for foster children of various ages throughout the locality. This site is considered the orchard of the state of Nuevo León for its fertile lands and growth of grains and fruits. Due to its high quality of citruses, Montemorelos is known as the Orange Capital.

5

The youth center design derives from a conceptualized masterplan which responds to the different community needs. These include various units of accomodation for the children and the guardians, as well as spaces to give place to teaching and extracurricular activities. In furtherance to help the community self- substain, small commercial ventures are initially proposed. These units will intend to merchandise local farming goods and benefit the master plans startup.

The motion of the masterplan intends to provide different areas adaptable to the users needs. The site has enough space for the suggestion

of an area to shelter the children, dwellings for the gaurdians, and employees. Accomodation por a potential rentable camping area for other

users can be integrated to the program, as part of an economical benefit to the youth center along with the units selling the farming goods.

8

The upper side of the units were given a 25 degree slope providing the inner spaces with natural ilumination during daylight hours increasing the sustainable use of energy. An imaginary axis is traced from the main entrance of

9

the complex and creates a walkable path upon it connecting all the units together. The units are unified through a layer of translucent polycarbonate sheets, providing the user with shade and protection in an affordable way.

The structure of the units are put together through the use of steel IPR columns and beams. They are intersected to grip the brick facade and curtain walls together to compose the buildings skin. All of the modules are anchored through the same structure allowing the modules to be repeated along the pathaway as many times as needed.

Project 02: Inside loft cube interior renovation Location: Monterrey, MÊxico Year: 2016 The loft cube is an interior renovation inside a 40m² loft in an apartment building. The design of the loft intends to create different spaces inside the apartment with individual uses in defiance to the small space. White tones of bricks and paint where selected as materials for the walls as for the white wooden doors and furniture to create an illusion of a more open space. The loft has a full glass fa-

15

cade that leads to a terrace which allows natural light pass through the whole apartment. The bedroom is placed on the upper side of the services area to gain more range throughout the loft. The stairs used to access the bedroom can also be used as shelfs for more room storage. The apartment is then accentuated with green plants and warm light tones for a comfy and natural experience.

Project 03: urban rehabilitation

Location: Monterrey, Mexico Year: 2017 Located in Mexico’s third largest city Monterrey, the Park in Felix U Gómez metro station is an initial prospect scheme responding to one of the overly populated cities biggest problems facing today; inadequate urban infrastructure. For years Monterrey’s rapidly metropolitan growth has led to deficient urbanism specially in the center of the city where a good part of the natural vegetation and flora has been considerably vanished away

23

by industrial building and consumption. This has led to be a big difficulty for the inhabitants of the proximate zone specially for a city like Monterrey which is designed prior for cars and on second thought for pedestrians. Park in Felix U Gómez is a cradle proposal to alternate spaces of the city center which are connected by walkable distances; granting a regenaration of the neighborhoods life, sustainability, and quality of life.

Distances

Connections The initial site to intervene begins in one of the most chaotic nodes of the city center where a highly frequented metrostation intersects (Metrostation FĂŠlix U. Gomez). The station is adjacent to a city square which in its mayority is deserted and counts with

25

two small public university faculties in the corners. A diagonal 1.2 km long axis is traced between the Metrostation and one of the largest and only parks in the city center (Fundidora Park.) The main function of the axis is to fragment a footprint in the urban area

via a flux inner connection between the areas, and evidence a green path for the pedestrians and cyclist restrictive use while improving the sites conditions.

Due to the implementation of this axis a new path is created to fill the new connections between the metro station and its surroundings, allowing the area to become a new space filled with natural vegetation

of the area by shortening the walking distances in the proximities of the expanse. Vertical apartment buildings are proposed on the masterplan in the venture of rehabilitation of the zone. The projects main

purpose is to conceive a sense of belonging and a community for the people who carry away their activities in the area.

Project 04: Mixed use

Location: Monterrey, Mexico Year: 2015 The project is located in of the most important sites of Monterrey´s historical center. It is an area where important events take place, and also has a big impact in Monterrey´s commerce, and tourism. The terrain is hedged in important milestones within its resemblance. The proposal involves an office building combined with mixed use. The first three levels combine spaces for the public including restaurants, galleries and stores. The rest of the buildings levels intend to accommodate facilities for office employees and executive suites. The building’s scheme intends to unite its scale and pres-

31

ence, at hand with its characteristic surroundings. The concept begins with a rectangle shape segment which is later altered due to the different needs in the distribution of the buildings form. Ultimately the building intends to be further open in the first levels captivating a more open space for public use. The rest of the buildings levels intends to be perceived as more private yet aspire to have considerable glass spaces which allow the users to enjoy the view. The concrete framework aesthetic is diverged with the use of green hanging plants along the buildings slab.

MIXED USE

Eight levels of office where created, each one counts with a main cubicle section, spacious meeting rooms, and common areas. The next three levels up give space to the executive suites, which count with three different types of suites, each one accommodating different necessities. The back part of the building facade faces an existing public square which is let opened so the building is unified as a transition of outer and inner space.

Project 05: HFT Exhibition Line Location: Stuttgart, Germany Year: 2014 The HFT(Hoch Schule fßr Technik Stuttgart) Exhibition Line is an experimental scheme for a flexible working space which will reside the HFT architecture faculty building and the campus main concurrences. The concept stands in a simple two level rectangular shaped building, using wood as the prominent material and glass for the façade. The building integrates a multi-use space in the direction of students needs for a place to design as well as meetings for

39

the staff at the HFT Architecture faculty. The main function of the building is to ease professors and expositors experience of semestral work display as well as perpetual revisions directed toward students throughout the school year. The multi-use space also intends to grant the HFT students with sufficient open areas where they can exhibit their project models and presentations to the public temporarily throughout the course of each semester.

Project 06: A9 Unit Dwelling

Location: San Pedro, Garza GarcĂa, Mexico Year: 2013 A particularly arranged 9 apartment building with an atypical shape, provides three different apartment typologies that can be adapted subsequently to the individual users needs. This provides a playful diversity of style of living in the locality, which creates an opportunity to choose a unique dwelling that adapts to each distinct requisite naturally improving the quality of living experience of the inhabitants. Responding to the natural condition

45

of the terrain and the surrounding limits, the projects planfloor level is raised one floor, allowing the space to be covered with much more needed vegetation, visually creating a greater open space. The use of natural wood as the principal exterior material intends to blend with the scarcely visible concrete slabs furnishing a contrast within the existing buildings around the zone, conceding the dwelling complex to create its own character sole.

Extras: ILLUSTRATIONS

There are several reasons behind the use of architectural drawing. For me it can become an opportunity of experimental alternatives from the boldness of the contemporary practice. It is an exploration of translating architectural conceptions in a progressive way, allowing each participant to root around the variant fundamentals that constitute an architectural project. Architec-

51

ture itself, is the process of planning and designing, however representation should be allowed to remain unbarred, as a constant continuity of self exploration and creative expression. The following drawings are a compilation of my selected works in which i translate ideas into a current representation.
