This verb form will always need auxiliary or support verbs depending on the verb tense that we are forming gerunds can be the subject or the object of a sentence can also be the object of a prepositions.

When the verb has a syllable or whose accent falls on the last syllable and ends in a consonant. the latter are usually duplicated.

All verbs ending in an –e that is not pronounced must be replaced with ing.
Example:
* He is dating a friend of my sister
* He's not taking it seriously
*He is taking care of a donkey
Rule 3 when the verb ends with -ee, you only have to add the ing.
Example:
*I'm seeing you behind the curtain
*He is not running from jail
* is your dog peeing in the suitcase
Rule 4.
When a verb ends in -ie this letter should be replaced with the letter Y and the ing should be added.
Example: He is lying about what happened
* She is not dying of love
* We are serving you well
